This maybe 6 years ago, but man this build is solid, couldn't find the same cooler so ended up with a lifetime cooler about the same size and stye. They make a bigger battery now, so went with a 11000mah battery pack just shy of double the battery life. I also used a set of Rockford Fosgate 6.5's, I did have to use a heat gun and melt the inside to give some extra room for the bigger set of speakers. Solid build and great set up! Very loud!
I sold a cooler at work a week ago, that I nearly fell over when I realized the price of it! It was about $197.00! I did a double take. I told the guy for that price it should have speakers in it like you were planning to do to this one! I saw your video where you tested the length of actual cooling in it. And then how you installed the drain plug. Neat to see it full circle now!
Im been meaning to try something like this for the longest. Your video has great details and infor on how to run everything with out cutting the whole thing open.
I agree. I used to sell plans on making bluetooth coolers in colemans on ebay back in 2013. I had to add much more stuff to make it also. This was pretty much a breeze. I know the connector you listed connects the positive and negative from the amp to the male Y from the battery, but how does the blue from the switch connect to that same Y from the battery. since the other one is for charging. I know it connects from your diagram...but it is never shown and I can't figure out how...please help! thank you.
Do you think it sounds better with speakers facing upwards , I made some with speakers mounted vertically so the they can face me.. But wondering how the upward facing sounds, I wanna make another one
I seen your video and its cool I'm ordering the parts to do it myself. The only thing I'm lost is the picture of the wiring. Can you show me how ? Or is there a better way so see how to Connect the wires? Tia
Would’ve like to seen how you installed the battery and amplifier in the lid as well. Unfortunately you didn’t have footage of that. Great DIY nonetheless. Perhaps you can reply with the steps in how you did install the amplifier and battery though please.
question i ordered one of the docks for a cordless 20v battery do i have to run a voltege stepdown on this amp or would it be fine direct wire to the cordless battery
Could you please show how exactly you got the battery to power the amp please? I’m very visual and trying to figure out how to connect power and ground to that Y off the battery. I’m assuming you have to cut the piece of the Y or could you wire in something that plugs into the Y connector?
Excellent work!!! What's the depth of the lid? Is it possible with these coolers (Ozark) to install everything in the front of the cooler? I'm thinking of doing with with the Kicker PX series amp with BT built in. Suggestions??
Question.. if I wanted to use like a power tool battery like a dewalt 12v and attached outside of the cooler.. where would the grounding point be for the amp etc.. battery?
I have used a pyle amp in other builds. I put it in a enclosed case and it overheated pretty fast and burnt up. Since then, I have added a little 3 inch PC fan in the wall of the cooler to vent the hot air. How do you prevent this one from overheating? Has anyone enclosed this style amp and had it not overheat?

Hey I was going through your links in the description the connectors would not come up on Amazon what is a alternative that will work in going to do this to the same cooler
Im a bit confused in wiring. In the video u said the battery button always stays on. Does the switch turn the battery on and off also if the battery switch stays in the on position? Or does the push button switch only turn on the amp? I guess im wondering that becasue if the battery always stays on does it basically just die on its own when not in use?
It will technically use a very small amount of battery since when you have the battery on it lights up tiny lights that tell how full the battery is. The amount used would not even register though so i wouldnt worry about that. It has to remain switched on due to the build of the battery that requires it to be in that switch position to take a charge.
I watched all the way up until 0:01 when I saw your hat... then I went to the next stereo cooler build. Seriously though, nice job. It would sound even better with Tiger Rag playing!
There are 3 different ones you need overall, the male and female 12v 5amp connectors, these are 2 different connectors sold as one pack though. The the ones linked arent available, however there are other brands available. And then you need the 2.1MM 5A DC power jack socket. The one linked for that shows still available.
He's using a 6ah battery pack so fully charged if the amplifier is pulling 1amp it would last 6 hours. This amplifier has a 10amp fuse so it's going to pull less than that. Just say it pulls 5amps constantly it would last just over an hour. Thing is when playing music your current draw (amps) won't be consistent so there is no way to tell for sure without some testing. I suspect you'd probably get 2-3 hours out of it at most at a high volume level maybe a tad longer. Really depends on the music your're playing etc.
I did the exact cooler off the radio except the 3ah battery. Did a test run today and got over 5 hours playing as loud as I could. Just bought the 6ah to install. Hope this helps!

When I was building the cooler in my head, I ordered another amp that was a bluetooth amp. Once I bench tested it, I sent it back to amazon. The range was less than 10'. This is one reason I stuck with the pyle.
