In India, it costs only less than 3 $ (₹200). But no one will provide even 1 day guarantee. The way you change the port is very professional. Very rare technicians use desoldering wick in India also. BTW, charging port costs only Rs ₹3 per piece in India.

Hi Bro This is Rajan Dhiman from India. Your repair skills are too much good. You always using high quality spare parts, components, flux, solder etc... In india, no one using high quality material in repair. Even customer also want cheap repair. We are not providing any warranty on repair because spare parts & repair was very cheap. That's the main reason of huge difference in repair amount. I'm replacing this charging port just in 150/- indian Rupees. 150/- Rupees equal to 2 doller approx.
Love your videos, especially the quick fixes. Your videos are perfectly timed and straight to the point. You make it look so easy but I know behind that there are many years of experience. I do a bit of repairs myself, still basic, still learning but hope to get at your level someday.
I agree with you. Comparing your prices to a different countries price is ludicrous. You explained it well. I live in Wales in the UK we charge £65 for this service yet in London its £90. Cost of living eg rents rates etc are vastly different. Great videos by the way.
You told the customer to go to a near mall, do you have any idea what this means? You deserve a mayor's reward young man. Trust me, the mayors and the politicians know exactly what this means and it brings, absolutely great, you are an asset to your community. Big businessman's cant do what you did. Keep it up young man.
It is true that repairing cost in India is cheap (For changing a microphone in a smart phone cost 150-200 INR including part and service charges though in big cities the price may go up). But some devices available in India are high price than other countries. Though some companies setup their manufacturing plants to minimal the price of such devices through "Make In India" initiatives.
Never trust important files on a cheap tablet. But sometimes it's what someone will have (cheap). Good just Boss always love your videos. Sometimes I wanna pay a visit but still waiting for something I need to get fixed.
no wonder: imported goods, eco taxes and labour cost. :) and thanks for your tips about soldering: at first sight i was thinking you use way too much flux, but after i tried myself, I was "wow!"
As in U.S., in India cost of repairs are also driven by local economy. In bigger cities / urban areas (cities with 1+ million population) the repair charges can be comparable to bigger cities in U.S. I know because I have stayed in multiple locations in India before moving to L.A. (near where this business is based) and then moved to Silicon Valley for over decade and finally now in smaller town in Midwest. Also yes, there is a slightly different mindset because lot of consumers in India prefer trying to repair things first (partly also because there are so many good electronics repair guys like the host of this channel offering quality work at "locally" competitive prices) versus discarding them and getting new ones (possibly because Geek Squad recommendation that a "2-yr old device is super-old in the pc and computer world" 😁). Great videos, Sir. Keep up the good work.
I have not seen any repair shop that repairs the devices so professionally the way you do. I wish I can be your representative in India as a repair franchisee of yours. :)
You are absolutely right living standards are high if you compare to India .In some cases some local technicians charges as low as 3$ at Mumbai in India....
I understand that in India changing charging port it cost 5$. In Albania is the same it cost a little more 15$ for a poet. But the services, I speak for my county (I don't know haw the service is in India or any other part of worlds) its a totally shit. And not talking for diagnoses like you made. I like your job. And I think you are doing a good job.
Hello sir . I am from India. The avarage sallary in India is about 15000 INR. And 500 Rupees are more for us😂😂😂😂. 500 is about one day sallary . I love your videos sir .I learnt many things from you. Than you
Sir I keep taking a lot of detailed information from you, in video, I do not use this chip level in mobile, but all the components display charging light display folder flex, I can work now India make I am your student 🙏😊
Hello sir I live in India and I daily repair such kind of charging port and charge 2 to 3 doller for this but the customer is stil not happy they want it more cheaper
yeah.. that called "blob" solder .. which doesn't last long.. those solder will crack sooner compared to strong joint solder which is not too much, and not too less..
In Romania, the country of minimum wage, a charging port replacement goes anywhere from 20-50 dolars. The minimum wage is 300 dolars. Remember when I took my Samsung Note 5 for a no power issue next day after a battery replacement. They said it was the battery wich actualy got a bad solder joint when it was installed. After 5 weeks same issue occured, same problem, same joint. The charged me another 25 dolars because it was past the 30 da warranty. They charged me 25 dolars for a cold solder joint they made.
Definitely there is huge difference between Indians annual income & us. In India we make less money but products r available in India r way too cheaper than USA.
for replacing basic keypad mobile micro usb port, repair shops generally charge $2 here in India. as you stated, income and spending both are less here. But if you look at the generic lifestyle, there is a huge gap.. like an iphone will cost the same around the world (excluding the import charge), so poor countries will have less iphone customers, as their income is low. same for automobile as well..
In india in some districts charging port can be changed in less than 1$ few days ago I changed charging port of my headphones it cost me just 50 indian rupees and it working very well
5 USD is some back alley shop maybe. For a micro USB charging port the shop I used to work at charged around 500 to 700 rupees depending on the device. For USB C it was between 1200 to 2500 rupees. We gave a warranty against manufacturing defect and repair defect for 6 months. Shops in India don't offer warranty on repairs because many times people damage the device and try to pass it off as our fault and try to claim warranty. They cause a big scene near workplace and we try to reduce such incidents by not offering warranty. Also replacement culture is becoming the norm. No one repairs things like they did before. I had to fix the broken trace for speaker on my mom's phone because every shop I tool it to only offered to replace the board.
I don't usually accept rush repairs, it's a pain in the ... when a device is opened by someone and you don't know what other damages you will see overtime. Also in my country if I fixed it for short period of time like 30mins they will pay you for cheap price that is not acceptable to the effort I did for it. Also 5 dollars is what they always give to my labor which is unfair.
As you say, same parts are usually quite similarly priced, but cost of services are linked to wages and cost of living. If you're making $300 a month, $5 is half a day's income.
In Algeria, the Charging port Replacement costs five dollars, but the citizen averages five to eight dollars a day, and this price is according to the income of the individual in his country and the expenses in that country.
85$? Now I understand that smile when you fix something
Anyway perfect job
I wouldn't do it for 3 times that
Exactly what Kaiser Soze would say....
here in the philippines we charge these types of fix for about 450PHP or roughly $9 and still people want huge discounts :(
True, a simple port replacement should be like a $20 job

We charge 75 rupees (1$) for charging port replacement and replace approx 50+ ports daily in Karol Bagh, Delhi 😀
Only 2000 ports to cover his rent huh
Another great video Alex. The device was fixed and hopefully the customer is happy with the repair.

I'm sure $85 is his "expedited" rate, probably a lower amount for the regular service.
Besides repairs you give very good business advice on dealing with customer and how to handle situation...

In Costa Rica costs around $16 to $25 dollars. Big differences
Crowd sourcing the database entries for charging port compatibility/cross-reference is an excellent idea.
Maybe you could start a discord server to exchange the database and every users knowledge about repairing things
