I still make it to this day after my visit to the states in 2012. Your version sounds better by roasting the garlic first. Will definitely try. Thanks from Sydney, Australia.
I worked for Fridays a little over 20 years ago and we originally made the sauce from scratch. I do remember that it also had a little cayenne pepper in it too. I could've sworn it also had some black cherry preserves in it, but I think that might've been a different sauce for another menu item (we also had a different promotion going on at the time with a different, but similar-looking sauce). Of course, when they eventually added it to the menu permanently, they just started shipping the sauce to us in big plastic bags.
@@colman2005 As far as I know. Even their mashed potatoes come in a plastic bag (at least when I worked there). The recipe in this vid is really, really close. Just add 1/4 tsp cayenne and it tastes exactly like the real deal (but better because it's homemade).

Couple of tips to consider: * CUT down sugar. I bet its way TOO much. I used ca 40% only * you can also cut down a bit pineapple - otherwise it tastes too much pineapple * less water! I did cook it ca 45 min to get good consistency. You can also add in the end starch - 2 tsp * add much more whiskey 2-3x more * I did add also just a littlebit thyme and pinch of rosmary * optional - you can also add some heat, if you wish. I added 1/5 habanero. Be careful here, less is better. Thank me later :D its quite good stuff. Especially I like it on the smashed burger meat

So it should be cooking/simmering while the garlic is cooking for 40-35 mins and then once you add the garlic, onion, and whiskey you cook/simmer for 15 more minutes until thick- making it a 55-50 mins job?
