    Strange to think that Graham Hill had to carry the baton for Lotus following Clark's death and Damon had to do the same for Williams in the wake of Senna's death, Senna arguably being the best since Clark.

    Hill's voice and accent is sooo much like his fathers.

    @Taxman - Could not agree more. It nakes me emotional to think how Damon evolved after Senna's death. The history books say Schumacher won the title but those who know really know Damon won it.

    Indeed. Wasn't to be the only time that season where Schumacher ran into Hill either!

    @TheMazaro Absolutely. It was Senna's superb ability that enabled him to keep up with Schumacher. A power advantage is useless if your car doesn't handle properly!
    Also, claiming Bennetton were innocent of using driver aids just because it wasn't proven is very naive. Senna himself was convinced they were using driver aids after sitting by the track & listening to the cars at the Pacific GP.

    they found source code of a launch control, not traction control. the fuel rig was not illegal, they were allowed to put out the filter. also they were not the first team not using the filter, this was larrousse.

    Finished 6th because Schumacher ran into his front wing on the first lap, so he had to pit and was 1 lap down.

    Some people need to learn about human behaviour. You really believe that a guy who has a family, 3 kids and been always on good terms with all people around him would be so coldhearted as to pretend about his feelings towards Senna. I think he's sincere there and I believe it'd be impossible not to be affected by a fellow driver's death, even more so if it was Senna's.
    I'm not even a Schumacher fan and I think Senna was the best driver in the second half of F1 history, but one has to be real.

    milkshakemuncher - Also, Ferrari and McLaren used the same ECU as they did in 1993. Why do people point out Benetton over all the other teams, when a lot were doing the same thing. There was no proof that the driver aids were used and there was no rule stating that the teams had to use a specified FIA ECU either. Hence why Benneton were cleared. The punishment was for a missing filter in the fuel rig and Schumacher ignoring the black flag.

    @weallfollowmanutd : read the wiki article Adrian Newey himself said he made a "bloody awful cockup" of the FW16A (not FW16B).
    Hill was lapped at mid race distance by Schumacher (and Senna!) in Brazil.

    7 world titles means nothing when 5 of them were achieved with the best car, the best engineers, the best strategistis, poor and slaved team-mates and no competition at all (no good drivers and no good teams).

    Comas actually said that Senna perhaps saved his life with switching off the stll running car...(at these times there was huge danger of fires ater these kind of accidents.)

    intertecnique was manufacturer of the fuel rigs and they allowed to remove the filter and fia said ok. after that accident they didn't want to know anything about their allowance(fia).

  • @LouieGee

    Benetton had indeed the best chassi of the season. But they didn't had an engine as powerful as the Renault and still Schumacher was able to keep up with Senna in Interlagos due to his illegal traction control. FIA found the source code in their software.
    Also, Schumacher was able to overtake Senna in THE PITS, because of the illegal fuel rig. Schumacher's stoppage time was less than a half of Senna's.

  • @weallfollowmanutd
    @weallfollowmanutd 14 років тому

    Lets no forget that the Benetton was around 8-10mph slower down the straights with its Ford engine, than the WIlliams with its Renault engine. A margin of around 70hp nowadays would make a difference of 1 second per lap. The Benetton would've had to have been light years ahead around the corners, which I truely believe not to have been the case!

    • @antoniodias1122
      @antoniodias1122 Рік тому

      Benetton was using mechanical traction control at that time. Without that Schumacher wasn't at same Senna's level. Williams had a better engine suitable for straight and high velocities. Benetton for resuming speed after turns.

    Was this video unavailable for a long time? I see a lot of F1 videos lately where there are a bunch of comments from years ago, low viewcounts, then suddenly comments from last week. I know Liberty isn't as against F1 footage being on here as Bernie was.

    @weallfollowmanutd Your mistaken. Ford HB8 had 730 BHP . Coswoth gained 1000 r/min, up to 760 Bhp
    The RS6 was around 780/790 (RS6C) and main improvment where axed around not the power but handling. Mc Laren started 1993 with HB-5 (685 BHP) then gained HB7 at Silverstone( 700BHP) and finally HB8 730 BHP The less powerfull engine in 94 was the Hart V-10 with 720 BHP. the package Williams-Renault was inferior to Benetton Ford although, especially at Interlagos and Aida Senna managed to be faster

    Can you tell me where I said that? I don't remember saying that... what I said was: "Schumacher is not as good as his titles say".
    Michael was a great driver, one of the best in history. But as far as I am concerned, he is not as good as Fangio, Clark or Senna (the greatest of them all).

    The Benneton-Ford was a quite good car, better than the Ferrari and MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER than the McLaren... I think it was Peugeot back then? The Williams-Renault was a bit better though.

    true but being liked or disliked isn't waht it's about. Michael Schumacher was hated but look where that got him - 7 world titles and billed as the greatest of all time, do you think he cared if he was liked or disliked for his style of driving?

  • @GTAGIS
    @GTAGIS 13 років тому

    @weallfollowmanutd False : Schum had only 3/4 kmh less than Senna at Tamburello in term of speed. It was 15/20 for the Jordan and the Simtek. Again, a difference of maybe 20/25 BHP no more. The communication of Briatore and Schum was unfair with Ford, in orer to upgrade their performance in 94. Definitively, Schum had the best car. He admitted it . There's a book of F1 presentation where he was asked every year about the best of his car . B 194 was alongside F2002 and beat by F2004.

    James Allen is a horrible commentator. I don't know anyone that likes him outside England. If you're not a Brit, congrats on being the first I've met. He consistently missed major race developments and was utterly biased. He made watching F1 races for anyone that doesn't follow Hamilton a JOKE! If you went completely unaware of this, you are the blind one, not moguetricky.

    You're talking so much bullshit its unbelieveable. I worked for cosworth years ago and at that time, the 93 HB8 had not even 715hp, so where you get your facts from is beyond me. Your stat of 20/25hp difference is laughable when comparing the Renault V10. The difference was around 65-70 hp. The race at Imola would have been an easy Senna victory, as Benetton were at a major disadvantage having to run half the wing the Williams ran that weekend, hence the close straight line speeds.

    definately, put Hamilton in a Honda and Button in a McMerc and see what happens.
    But Hamilton has the instinct and aggression to be potentially one of the greats!
