I rented this on a trip down south. Fun small SUV. The interior and the upgrades inside. Perfect. I’m strongly looking to trade my Subaru Crosstrek for this.
Test drove an SV Premium last month and I was thoroughly impressed with it. Thing is, you don’t really need to floor it to get maximum power and acceleration. From a dead stop, this will get up and go with just a little bit of put down from the gas pedal. I tested this in both Auto and Sport modes. Really quick off the line, so I’m betting anything that if you just accelerated normally, you probably would have gotten a slightly better 0-60 time. Just saying. If I could afford one, I would totally buy one, but even the base S trim is expensive as blazes. Still it would make a good addition to anyone’s driveway, I think. Just remember to take good care of the CVT and you’d be set.
We have nine or ten of the 2022 Rogue SV in our fleet. The ride is so more comfortable than the older version. The OEM tires have a very short life. In the snowy season and you bump a curb, the tie rods break easily and you are looking at a repair over $3,000. This happened with a third of our Rogues so far this winter.
Well that's only natural that the dealer saves a few bucks in pocket by putting on shitty tires. If you own a fleet you should be changing them out to something like Michelin CrossClimate 2 or Falken Wildpeak A/T tires.
@@SylasG Running over curbs tends to mess up more than just tie rods. Tires, rims, ball joints, bearings and alignments. Maybe even some of the bumper. Key thought here is don't run into curbs. 😅
I had a 21 Rogue. Traded it in for the 23 Rogue Platinum. The exact one in the pic but w black interior. Beautiful inside and out. However, Only getting 23.4 gas mileage. You can drive in Eco. Standard or Sport. I try to keep it in Eco but it resets back to standard when you turn it off. In my opinion, the 21 was a smoother ride and a faster take off. The 23's engine is noisier. There are a couple more features in the 23. In my opinion, they should've kept the 4 cyl.
The noise your hearing is either a whir sound from the turbo which has become an issue with some drivers. Or the piped in V6 sound yes you heard that right from the speakers. Which is nothing for concern only aesthetics.
Checked out the Rogue. It was on sale with no markup, and shipping knocked off. I had been watching the inventory numbers, and they selling about 1 or 2 rogues a day. Looks like I will pick it up. Car payments will be between 160 to 200 a month with my trade in.
Nissan tech here. You can still get this with the 2.5 liter. Actually, the turbo is less common and more expensive. Of all new the rogues I see, 9/10 of them are 2.5 liter. Anyway, these are excellent. They’ve come a long way. SERVICE YOUR CVT FLUID WITH NS3 AND A NEW FILTER. DO IT.
Semi-aniline leather on a regular compact SUV. An interior color other than gray or black. Respectable technology. GREAT styling(love the more masculine appearance over something like the Escape, Equinox, or Forester. Cavernous cabin. Decent refinement(not easy with a 3cyl engine and the harmonics associated with that). It is a great buy. I'd be torn between this and the equally attractive inside and out, Outlander(Mitsu's dealer network sucks, but at least you could get long term support from Nissan).
It's almost as if Nissan is afraid of making the perfect vehicle. The Rogue has a very handsome appearance, beautiful interior, adequate tech, ample cargo room..... and a 3 cylinder engine, WTF?
@@reyperez3424 We'll see how long term reliability fares on this new engine. That will be the true test. Anyone who knows Nissan should realize they don't fare well in this department.
This is true. I had to learn that when I had a 2017 Rogue. Eventually it became second nature. Now after having 2 traditional transmission vehicles though, I doubt I would go back to a CVT ever again.
The video states that one can get a RAV4 or CRV for about the same price or cheaper. In California (Sacramento area), the asking price for a RAV4 is nearly $10K above MSRP, and the hard-to-find CRV not so steep but still many thousands above MSRP. I got a '23 Rogue SL AWD with Premium Package for just under MSRP + destination at $39.5K. It's a fantastic vehicle inside and out with amazing features and a great driving experience. My only complaint is that it doesn't get nearly the EPA estimated gas mileage of 31/34 MPG; I'm averaging about 23 MPG with 95% highway driving by my own miles/gallons calculations, not relying on the overly optimistic built-in mileage tracker.
daughter has a 22 SV Rogue w/Premium, she loves it.. the little turbo engine really gets up and goes. only drawback imo is the CVT. other than that, her Rogue is a really decent suv, comfy ride, sound system pretty amazing too!
The 1.5T is decent, but the CVT remains, and is holding this back. Would like to see this 1.5T in something sportier, such as a Sentra Nismo with a manual. The Rogue remains rental grade, just a little better.
@@Aymcana I was criticizing the power train not the interior. The CVT makes it rental grade. The zero to 60 makes it rental grade. Nissan tries to fool buyer's with a nice interior, which won't work for enthusiasts.
I got a 2022 Platinum about a month ago. I was very apprehensive concerning the new engine so, I got an extended warranty. CVT transmissions don't bother me at all. I'm an older man who drives conservatively. I've had 3 Jatco CVTs and I've not had a problem as of yet. I traded a fully loaded 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander for the new Rogue so, I had a NICE SUV. This Platinum Rogue is AMAZING! She rides and drives like a dream! 0-60, I could care less about but, where the variable compression shines is passing someone doing 50 MPH or so. It will sit you back in your seat! It is just tuned for real life driving conditions,, ( it will get you out of a problem situation). My sister has a new Lincoln Aviator. Of course this is a luxury SUV but my new Rogue is very comparable when it comes to the handling, safety options and most of all the interior design! Quilted leather seats are beautiful and the layout is intuitive. DOWNSIDES: There is no air conditioned seats! (WTH)? It didn't come with a tonto cover for the luggage area! $280 for that if you are interested. My biggest bitch is that I have to plug my Android the port for connectivity! What the hell Nissan? Half of the people on the planet have an Android! Now this is not a deal breaker but! Obviously you an Apple are banging each other on the side! Same way with my Frontier! Done with that part... One more thing. Since my Platinum was a 2022 and came in on the same truck as all of the SV 2023s ,,, the dealership had already knocked off $1,000 from the asking price. I went to the dealership 3 times and walked away all 3. When I got home the 3rd time my guy sent me a message that the GM would pay my taxes for the car if I bought it. That was $2,300. So, bought it the next morning. I'm very happy thus far. Good luck and if you are looking for a really cool SUV AWD that gets 34 MPG... You can't go wrong with this Rogue. Rev
I must say, the rogue has been a decent car. I’ve had a 2021 Rogue SV Premium with the 2.5 for a good while now, and the safety assist is very nice to have, has saved me a couple of times…..ride is good, handling is decent, overall, a good car. Drives much better than a rav4, and despite it having a CVT, it’s very responsive, and smooth than a conventional auto. Overall, happy with my purchase. Somehow though, I feel my 2.5 is quicker as this takes more time for the boost to build.
I’ve been looking into the 21’s I found one for 22 and then another which is a 20 I know different style but 17k with only 30,000 miles so I may just opt for that one
My 2023 nissan rogue has a Plastic oil Pan That is prone to break when you have oil changes done. If a car company is going to cheat out on oil pans, what else are they gonna cheat out on
My 2015 Rogue was just totaled by a red-light runner. Rear door and quarter panel demolished, but absolutely nothing entered the cabin of the car. I have two car seats back there, so safety is pretty high on my list. The window in the rear door even worked! (well, halfway until the window collides with the steel 😂) Between its apparent crashworthiness, and the fact that the car performed at 8 years as well as it did brand new, not a single mechanical issue, I see no reason not to buy another Rogue. I am the least brand loyal person on the planet, I've never owned the same make twice. But I don't see a more compelling compact crossover out there, and I absolutely was not ready to let my 2015 go. It's decided. I want it back. They even seemed to have fixed the one thing I didn't care for, the cabin air filter location! 🤣
If they can do cooled seats💺 on the Murano they can easily do cooled seats 💺 on the Rogue. The higher trim Rogues should have cooled seats as a standard.
Cooled seats is mainly a marketing slogan. There is no coolant or freon running through the seats to provide "cooling." Seats in almost all vehicles are ventilated (fans/forced air) to give a cooling feel from moisture evaporating from your body. So, the proper term is ventilated seats, even though you often hear otherwise... Good review though.
Nice overview. I really disagree with the decision to put the drive mode selector where it is on the center console. It'll be rarely used and has the most premium spot on the console. I'd like to see Premium Plus wirh vented front seats, auto up/down on at least the passenger front window, if not all 4 windows, add power steering wheel adjustments, add power mirror folding, seat memory, full power front passenger seat, and wireless Android Auto
Do you expect the ePower hybrid system to come to North America? The reviews from Australia and the UK describe the Rogue hybrid (X-trail there) as a near perfect driving SUV power plant that just doesn’t quite get the fuel economy expected from a hybrid, but the drive experience is a dream. I’d delay buying a Toyota, Lexus or Lincoln PHEV for a year or two if I believed AWD ePower Rogue were coming to our market.
I did own a 2021 Nissan Rogue SV with premium package AWD. The transmission was jerking at 28k miles already. At speeds over 65MPH I felt a little bit of jerking and when I drive slow and accelerate it jerked pretty bad. I traded it in for a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL premium package AWD since I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata with over 130k miles on it already. The Santa Fe is great so far I love the wireless android auto, the full digital dash, and it shifts way smoother with the 8 speed than Nissans CVT. I guess the CVT's are still crap still after years of complaints. I wanted to give Nissan a chance but it was a let down.
Had the SV as a rental on a road trip and was quite impressed. It's quiet on the highway, the ride is very comfortable, the seats are excellent, the ACC and LKA work well. It had me questioning my recent purchase of a Tucson Hybrid, though the Hyundai has a MUCH better powertrain.
I test drive thos one the other day. The engine is punchy and didnt feel slow, however steering was too sensitive and twitchy for me. I then sat in the back while mt wife drove and whenever it hit bumps the rear would get kind of squirrely.
I found out on the US Nissan website that this combinaison of color, exterior Two-tone Champagne Silver Metallic / Super Black and the interior Tan Semi-aniline Leather is not availlable even if the brochure said it is possible...
Anything with a 1.5 L engine plus a turbo is garbage when it comes to long term reliability. Yes it’s good enough to last through the warranty period before major breakdowns. A 2.0 or 2.5 L and up (without a turbo) is more solid. An suv/crossover is too heavy to be pulled around by a tiny but turbocharged engine. That being said, the interior is gorgeous with the tan leather.
@@marcusvision Tiny engine are overworked as it is and a turbo only pumps in more air making it work harder for the extra power which prematurely wears out the engine internals.
Wife has the version right before this and she loves it. Probably get a new one next year. Comment for Nissan - Whoever thought it was a good idea for the shift to be in reverse when you push it all the way forward needs to be fired. If you have been driving for 38 years like I have, all the way forward HAS BEEN PARK FOR DECADES. Either make park all the way forward or go to completely push button or dial or something different. This hybrid of a shifter and push button is dangerous. I don't drive her car everyday, so I have put it in reverse thinking it should be in part probably 10 times. It's idiotic and needs fixed
I think these newer CVTs from Nissan are better but it may be to late for people who had to deal with them that last generation including myself. I will never buy a Nissan again after what I went through with my 2015 Sentra.
I want to buy either Rogue or a Maverick. Now with interests rates up people are not buying the Maverick they ordered. And I am wondering if waiting another month would bring out additional incentives from Nissan. But I definitely have to test drive that Rogue to experience that shudder you talked about.
Tan interior is only available with Red Exterior in Canada. I just don't understand Nissan Canada's optioning. I want to get the configuration you are showing, however you have to get black interior if you get the silver champagne exterior. WTF
Still the best looking car in the segment. Tons of features and amenities. But Platinum trim costs a lot. For that money you can get a hybrid competitor (Tucson perhaps). Sticking to a mid-level trim makes more sense.
All Nissan needs now is to add a large hybrid battery to this efficient 3 cylinders engine and it will be the best in the segment, maybe also update this front facia (I really hate the 2 tiers front lights on any car).
I'm actually driving it December and is a very unique vehicle and it's big it gets a lot of power and stuff like that I'm driving it through Georgia to Ohio is very interesting

Did you trade in your crosstrek? I’m considering trading in my forester
Agree. Lightly tapping the gas pedal gives more torque vs flooring it.
Tie rods do not cost 3 thousand dollars.
What did the 23 plat have that the 21 didn’t ?
Props Nissan for not sticking piano black everywhere other car companies take notes.
I have driven the non turbo rouge almost 2 years ago and it was a really good drive. Other than the cvt and and not enough power, i liked it alot.
Good morning Redline!! Awesome video...lots of Nissans here in Canada.. Thanks Redline
Checked out the Rogue. It was on sale with no markup, and shipping knocked off. I had been watching the inventory numbers, and they selling about 1 or 2 rogues a day. Looks like I will pick it up. Car payments will be between 160 to 200 a month with my trade in.
22 SL Premium FWD. I average 33mpg. I've seen up to 39-40 on hwy trips. 29-30mpg cold winter city.
What's with all the blank buttons on the top trim?? Love the seats
This interior blows its competitors away!!!
DO IT.
Seriously considering trading in my '21 CRV on one of these new Rogues. How often does the CVT need servicing? Thanks
@@kirkkronenberger877Every 30k to 50k miles depending on driving conditions.
There is a little red light on the fob near the remote start button that shows you it has remote started when it has blinked
Is the turbo standard on all 2023 Rogues?
A 3 cylinder Turbo that is faster than the Rav4 and CRV so definitely WTF
@@reyperez3424 We'll see how long term reliability fares on this new engine. That will be the true test. Anyone who knows Nissan should realize they don't fare well in this department.
@@tomtalker2000 Since when has Nissan not had reliable engines?
I love all Nissan vehicles ❤
What is the deal with the fog lights??? Are they no longer standard? Are they still available??
You need to learn how to modulate the gas pedal to get the best acceleration with the CVT. Just mashing it won't be the fastest
This is true. I had to learn that when I had a 2017 Rogue. Eventually it became second nature.
Now after having 2 traditional transmission vehicles though, I doubt I would go back to a CVT ever again.
They just need to get rid of it.
Enjoy noise is ok ?
daughter has a 22 SV Rogue w/Premium, she loves it.. the little turbo engine really gets up and goes. only drawback imo is the CVT. other than that, her Rogue is a really decent suv, comfy ride, sound system pretty amazing too!
Make sure she charges the fluid on that horrendous Jatco transmission every 50k miles, only prayer you have of making it last.

The 1.5T is decent, but the CVT remains, and is holding this back. Would like to see this 1.5T in something sportier, such as a Sentra Nismo with a manual. The Rogue remains rental grade, just a little better.
Rental grade? This interior is straight from an infiniti. Compare it to a Rav4 or CRV
Rev
Not putting the ZF 9HP was a missed opportunity in this otherwise rather well executed SUV.

I would gladly give up the 3 zone climate to have cooled seats. And only one auto window is a shame in 2023.
For that price cooled seats should have been included. Engine does sound good though! 👍🏼
It sounds a HELLUVA a lot better then the outgoing engine. They simulated a V6 sound that is piped in through the speakers. For the 22 and up models.
I love that tan interior...thats why I'm getting one an I love the fact it's a 3 cylinder turbo.
How much mpg do you get ??
@@KURDPLAYERful 38.1.

Excellent review, although I wish you would have included the pro pilot assistant example. And displayed the ambiance lighting
If they can do cooled seats💺 on the Murano they can easily do cooled seats 💺 on the Rogue. The higher trim Rogues should have cooled seats as a standard.
Good to see 360 camera and HUD. This will force the competitors to step up. 😁
Especially that dumb 2023 crv !!
Rav4 offers all these features !
Yes but rav 4 hard on the eyes . The only problem is they removed the fog lights ..
The previous engine was already new, the PR25DD was revealed in 2019 with the Altima.
My 2016 Maxima has actual cooled seats.
Good observation, though.
Edit - release it as a plug-in hybrid with full electric of at least 30 to 35 mi, and it would be a killer
I’m kinda sad that they got rid of the old front headlight design (2016 version) but glad they updated the rear stuff
4:02 the current gen Rogue is actually smaller. 184.5 last gen, new one 183.
Do you think Nissan will force this 1.5L VC 3 banger into its sister Mitsubishi variant?
Probably eventually
Great effort by Nissan. I just wish it had automatic doorlock after walking away like the Honda CR-V does.
The 2023 SL Premium package has it. I like this feature.

Nissan did an excellent job with this Rogue, with the exception of the CVT. I don't mind CVTs but I'm not a big fan of them either.
I just mine brand New 2023 and the price worth it im so happy whit it
A 3cylinder engine, I cant believe you’ve done this review with a straight face. What a hooptey.
Who cares? It makes the same or more power than it’s competitors with 4 cylinders.
In europe and australia you got 12 inch instead of 9 inch
I test drive thos one the other day. The engine is punchy and didnt feel slow, however steering was too sensitive and twitchy for me. I then sat in the back while mt wife drove and whenever it hit bumps the rear would get kind of squirrely.
I found out on the US Nissan website that this combinaison of color, exterior Two-tone Champagne Silver Metallic / Super Black and the interior Tan Semi-aniline Leather is not availlable even if the brochure said it is possible...
I always get annoyed with blank switches in top level trims. Feels lazy
Honda’s 1.5t especially in it’s cars is a nice motor.
Yeah....i made a cringe face when he said 3cyl engine 🥴.
2.0 L turbo, and it would be such a sweet ride, but nissan does not wanna take away from its infiniti business...for shame....
@@marcusvision Tiny engine are overworked as it is and a turbo only pumps in more air making it work harder for the extra power which prematurely wears out the engine internals.

Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!
Taxi on call😮
I think these newer CVTs from Nissan are better but it may be to late for people who had to deal with them that last generation including myself. I will never buy a Nissan again after what I went through with my 2015 Sentra.
I want to buy either Rogue or a Maverick. Now with interests rates up people are not buying the Maverick they ordered. And I am wondering if waiting another month would bring out additional incentives from Nissan. But I definitely have to test drive that Rogue to experience that shudder you talked about.
Get the Maverick!
Our Rogue has the 2.5 4 cyl. It is a 2015. I have always found it to be very zippy. I drive it in “eco” mode most of the time, though.
I'd love to buy one, only problem there are only 3 Nissan dealers within 300 miles of me. Closest is a 100 mile drive, just to get a vehicle serviced.
Europe and Australia get the E-Power hybrid drivetrain but it doesn't really get that much better mpg than the 1.5 VC Turbo
I just got mine and it was made in Japan.
Tan interior is only available with Red Exterior in Canada. I just don't understand Nissan Canada's optioning. I want to get the configuration you are showing, however you have to get black interior if you get the silver champagne exterior. WTF
Sound?? Is this suppose to be a silent film from 1901?
Still the best looking car in the segment. Tons of features and amenities. But Platinum trim costs a lot. For that money you can get a hybrid competitor (Tucson perhaps). Sticking to a mid-level trim makes more sense.
All Nissan needs now is to add a large hybrid battery to this efficient 3 cylinders engine and it will be the best in the segment, maybe also update this front facia (I really hate the 2 tiers front lights on any car).
They already have this vehicle with this engine as a generator in other countries. Idk why they didn't bring it here yet.
I'm actually driving it December and is a very unique vehicle and it's big it gets a lot of power and stuff like that I'm driving it through Georgia to Ohio is very interesting
So the fog lights were quietly taken away….
