Waddup dudes! I'm so stoked to start sharing some different content with you guys on Patreon! You can check out the "Zurich Off Day Vlog" right now! patreon.com/matthorndrums
YES!!!!! I get SO excited when I get home from a long day at work and see Matty has posted a new video!! Start to finish crew in full effect. I vicariously live through you homey🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The crack in the lacquer of the tom is probably due to temperature and humidity changes causing it to shrink and expand until it eventually cracks. It's the same thing that happens to guitar finishes, called "checkering" which is actually very desirable for a guitar, to give it the vintage - road worn appearance. I guess bougie drummers don't feel the same though.
So, I liken your setups to my time in IT where I had people poking their heads in, asking questions, wanting to know what this and what that is; and your level of calm to do what is needed, every time, is so admirable. I love people who KNOW their craft and thrive within it, but will also take the time to not be a dick and still tell people how it works. This is why I enjoy your channel, and others like it, for the sole informational vibe. Humans love to learn and we should thrive on passing it on.
I love it when I see a new Matt Horn POV show up. Makes my day. And I don't know what it is, but my favorite part is when you change heads. Seating the head is satisfying. Worked many shows in my days and these bring back a lot of memories. Favorite show I ever worked was Avenged Sevenfold. Fricking amazing watching from spotlight pods in the ceiling.
Ive noticed ive picked up things from these videos haha i was changing my snare head to the other day and thought to myself "DONT YOU DIE ON ME!" as i stretched it out. and the patterns around the drums to soundcheck
These videos make me nostalgic for being on the road. I was LX crew on touring shows in Europe, South America, and Asia. The Swiss locals were some of the best. Ah well, I'm too soft from my cushy house gigs to go back out there and grind.
A tale of sitting back stage behind the scrim in the dark. Working in the Sun Dome in Tampa in the late 80s. Right behind stage on the wall were the main breakers for light and sound. The licensed electrician has to sit right next to these breakers during the show just in case something happens. So he’s sitting in the dark behind the scrim and he can’t be seen and there’s no one else back there. Heart comes in as a headliner and it’s a Florida summer and at that time it was an air supported roof. So by late in the show it’s pretty warm for an arena. Nancy Wilson looked pretty good in the 80s and had a pretty good sized set. Anyway about 2/3rds of the way into the show, she walks behind the scrim or heavy dark drapes at the back of the stage. There is only about two feet from the back of the stage and the walls, so she looks left and right and doesn’t see anyone. Especially not Skeeter, who is the building sparky sitting on his chair in the dark making double time. Anyway, she’s wearing a tube top so she pulls the top down and starts using a towel to wipe the sweat off her upper body . Skeeter gets the eye full of his life but is a gentlemanly pervert and doesn’t say a word. After a few seconds, she pulls her top back up and goes back to do the rest of the show. As you can imagine, we almost had to give Skeeter CPR. He never bitched about having to spend the entire show behind the drapes minding the breakers again. He must have told the story every show for a year though.
I’m a fan of Remo myself. Got Remo heads on all my drums. My heads of choice are: Snare: Controlled Sound, Ambassador Hazy Toms: Pinstripes, Ambassador Kick: Powerstroke 3, Ambassador
been a guitar player my entire life. Don't even know how to play drums. But fuck, i love your videos!! Found you 4 days ago and have watched a video everyday after work since!! Keep it up!!
Hey man, not sure if this tinebot model does the “filter” feature. This would eliminate any weird higher frequencies it picks up. Also, from what I’ve learned, you aren’t supposed to move the tunebot around the drum like that. You can just keep it at one spot. Nice video man! Thanks for keep making these!
Will you be coming to Perth, Australia for FIR in march?! I’d be so excited to get to see a video on that! And would be even greater if I bumped into ya! Keep it up mate!
About the Diet Coke in Europe: It's called "Coca-Cola Light" over here. You can still buy it in grocery stores, but most catering services and restaurants replaced it with Coke Zero for quite a while now.
how much does one of those sparker guns run? Why is it that my crew never had toys like that and I all I had was a scooter to steal, imagine if I had that and a scooter..... it's like the end of Takeshi's castle
Such cold sparks gun can be expensive enough. Also as an LD I would say that it is specific thing. Not for every case. Also, typical cold sparks fountains are more spread here. I know about it because cold sparks devices can be activated through DMX-controller as well as flames and foggers.
That blows my mind to see they move his entire kit to Europe. That shit ain't cheap. A couple of shows with Testament in Europe I was kinda shocked that Pearl kind of bitched & moaned about supplying Gene Hoglan a kit. Pearl initially wanted to charge him shipping costs. Which is batshit crazy. He's literally one of the faces of the company, yet they complained about cost to ship it to the first show of the tour. They relented, but did the right thing by not charging him. That's one thing I'll never forget. I still love Pearl, but god damn did that sting a bit.
You can tell Willard is the buzz kill of the crew. But since he is cool with Ronnie they have to put up with him. There always one guy like that annoying asf!
It was really a great show. And the drums soundet great😜🤘🏽 but a lot of people were a bit surprised that the show ended that early… was that normal? we all thaught they didnt play that long in comparison to other rock/metal bands. I hope my englisch was good enough to understand 😅❤️ Greetings from Switzerland 🙌🏽
Yeah we mostly have "Zero" variants of Coke. Still no sugar in it which is nice but it tastes slightly different than diet coke (which is called "cola light" in Europe). But i think most of our soda drinks will taste much different than they do in the US.
Hi, Matt! Great video! Actually, I have a couple of questions. In one of your videos you said that the tour is ended and you can show your pass. Why you are forbidden to show it? Is it ticket situation (barcode and QR-code are shown = stealed ticket) or something else? And why you don't show frames from your 360 camera since the show in Mexico?
yo! about the tune bot giving you a random frequency: when that happened to me it was because I was hitting the lug area too hard or away from it, so it would actually pick way more than it should from the drum head. Try it out see if it's your case as well!
4:39 You need to trademark that: "DON'T YOU DIE ON ME!!!"®😷 10:31 Don't sweat editing around conversations (unless you're doing a jump-cut every 2 seconds, then it's annoying) 🙃 20:33 Yeah! A Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Fry, and a Strawberry /Caramel shake from Five Guys. 🤗 24:01 I've been meaning to ask this for a while now: What's the difference between Luke's Signature Baby Stack and Signature Bullet Stack? They look to have similar components. 🤔 31:42 Another question: Has running Drum Tech for Luke made you change how you arrange your own set-up at home? 39:10 THE BIRBS! CREEPY DAVE! So UA-cam gave up on copyrighting bird tweets?
Would it make sense to have a small ratcheting screwdriver/power screwdriver to make changing heads faster? Or do you have to do the opposite lugs at the same time to avoid warping anything?

Sometimes when I don’t have time for the whole vid, I just peek in to see what catering has for us today.
And the Hitchcockian suspense as to whether he's gonna grab a DC or not.
Don't forget that Diet Coke of course 😅
my average food lover
haahhaa me too, plus the after show meal.
Yoooo i was literally doing that right now lol
Having another person ask Matt questions, even ones that annoy him are highly instructive. This added a lot of value.
As a German, I love to see you finally be in Europe, but the way you pronounced Kebab at 50:02 made me feel feelings I've never felt before.
When life gives me lemons, Matty Horn gives me Drum Tech POV's. Thanks big homie, these are so soothing to me for whatever reason. Good looking out.

Willard!! That dude is f*cking crazy! Love your videos Matt, it's the behind the scenes stuff that most people don't get to see.

Love these Matt ! Been watching these povs since August 2023 always makes my day when I see a new video up❤
I don't mind about the "breathing" sound
it just make u more like a human to me than an NPC imo
thanks for the awesome content , keep it up dudes !

Yooo, my hometown!!!
My first show at the Hallenstadion was Tool in 2019! Good to see this venue again through your content.
Hope you had a good stay!
STFC still loving the videos, thank god you’re back - I was getting withdrawal symptoms
the spark gun at the end deserves a like jeje

Damn... That's fucking hot. Good for Skeeter. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We definitely need Matt Horns merch👌🏼 and a collab with Pip haha that would be rad
Do not let Willard get ahold of lil sparky!
Dude Connor seems like such a chill cool dude hahaha
Always look forward to your vids Matt!

Love these videos. Love the crew jam. Crew love 😊
“Ohne Sharf” = “not spicy” in German

This is my fav pov video so far!!
"You kids wanna see a dead body"
*video cuts to next scene*

Sometimes the week gets long and tough. Then Matt horn hits the coke zeros in catering and you know it’s going to be alrifht
been a guitar player my entire life. Don't even know how to play drums. But fuck, i love your videos!! Found you 4 days ago and have watched a video everyday after work since!! Keep it up!!

Will you be coming to Perth, Australia for FIR in march?! I’d be so excited to get to see a video on that! And would be even greater if I bumped into ya! Keep it up mate!
I can‘t even remember, how many times I was in the Hallenstadion. The backstage area had so much more atmosphere before it got remodeled.
The don't you die on me gets me every time lol
HEY! 1! 2! Great vid as always Matt! 🤘
Thanks, Matt!
We need merch dude!! Something sick too. Not some lame stuff
Damn, that snarehead wasn't dented, looks like it had taken a MOAB to it lol 😂
The after show meal in another language had me in tears laughing. It's like i;m so hungry i don't care.
Didn't even notice the breathing til you pointed it out xD
I think we need the uncensored willard, and crew moments as a patreon perk #HornsHead 😂
Willard needs a blanket party.
I’d pull my hair out if I was out on the road with Willard around 😮💨

@ I can still dream of my heavily armed chariot :-)
It's called the Sparkular blaster, they're roughly $2800-$3,000. Depending on who/where you get it from.
@Such a shame. Perhaps someday i'll get to play with one of
praying for a video of the Dublin show when it happens please...🙏🙏🙏🙏

Start to finish crew
THE GOAT
Another great video Matt..cheers! Dont forget google translate is your friend ;)
Love these videos! What are you using for that tuning “lazy Susan”? Looked up DWs and they run $225!!
I pity the people that have to bunk with Willard. Dude is unhinged. 😂
Stf crew baybeeeee. Incase you're wondering why he says to turn on CC. Trust me. Just do it😏
Willard moment
Matt, you can also do the UA-cam member thing for the patreon
W Willard!!!
Matt you should do a Masterclass on how to play and care for the sets.
on the tune bot you have a filtre button to filter out the big numbers like the 247 you had! Hope you see this comment so it helps =)
You can tell Willard is the buzz kill of the crew. But since he is cool with Ronnie they have to put up with him. There always one guy like that annoying asf!
It was really a great show.

Man you gotta get those quick clutch and quick cymbal nuts stuff
I just noticed that Susan was back
Just came for the “Hey one two”
Matt this video was a masterclass for me in tuning! Just wondering how many Hz for the reso head on the snare? Thanks, from Mexico!
Security. So they passes arent copied and sold or used by someone to just go to any show for free.
@@djdert Thank you, buddy. So I was right :)
STF CREW! LFG!
finally something I know... a grocery bag by Lidl 🤣😀
yo! about the tune bot giving you a random frequency: when that happened to me it was because I was hitting the lug area too hard or away from it, so it would actually pick way more than it should from the drum head. Try it out see if it's your case as well!
No hands for the back line truck pack? Whack!
Hey Matt, the DC Coke is the one with the black writing, regular coke has white writing :)
they got dc and zero coke there, donno what's the diff, but there is. Here in Euroasia we have only classic and zero. Cheers from Uzbekistan
@@SaintDoppelganger yes, zero is Diet coke :)
@ in US they’ve zero and also Diet Coke as far as I know
what's the difference between dc and zero?
@ Diet Coke is sweetened exclusively with aspartame, whereas Coke Zero also contains a sweetener called acesulfame potassium or Ace-K
You should just blur Willard’s face out of all the videos from now on 🤣🤣
Willard 2 vids in a row lol...STF crew...
I love Hallenstadion😄
4:39 You need to trademark that: "DON'T YOU DIE ON ME!!!"®😷
10:31 Don't sweat editing around conversations (unless you're doing a jump-cut every 2 seconds, then it's annoying) 🙃
20:33 Yeah! A Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Fry, and a Strawberry /Caramel shake from Five Guys. 🤗

31:42 Another question: Has running Drum Tech for Luke made you change how you arrange your own set-up at home?
39:10 THE BIRBS! CREEPY DAVE! So UA-cam gave up on copyrighting bird tweets?
Yo, fellow Matt. 30:00 Just curious, is the snare top double mic'ed for redundancy (like in case Luke hits it to where it breaks)?
🔥🔥
BLAST BEAT epic
how do you tune the snare reso side?
Just noticed the outline of michigan inside of the 18” Has it already been talked about? Im curious of why its there. 31:02
Big venue, backstage. Lots of room.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Would it make sense to have a small ratcheting screwdriver/power screwdriver to make changing heads faster? Or do you have to do the opposite lugs at the same time to avoid warping anything?
The second one. Its like changing a tire and using opposite lug nuts.
Hey Matt is that a crack in that tom????
Are those 2 Beyerdynamic M201s on snare top at 30:41?
Kebab in Europe is much better than in the US ^_^ even if you couldn't read what you ate, it's till good.
Please do Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤
STF Crew!!!!
And I still live down the road from the trucking company
STF Crew!!
The heavy breathing may have something to do with the altitude.
