I followed you since you got your prospeed rack. It's great to see you build the D3, maybe now that you are doing more 4x4 overlanding I would suggest bring a spare tension rod bolt in the rear. Mine broke during a mojave trail overlanding here in California, luckily another D3/LR3 had a spare and also tools. I have RTT , sliders, sump guard etc and weight might be a culprit and harsh road 😂
Thank you for the tip and for following along! 😊 I have been thinking of what spares I need to bring and a common list amongst D3 owners would have been nice. I looked at spare drive shafts and found that you need both sides which is kind of a pain. 😅 I would love to come over to the States at some point, the 4x4 scene seems to be off the chart's compared to the little we see here in Norway. The car weight and the trails you got there is probably much more harder for the Disco then anything mine will see, for now at least. 🤙
I thought the big reveal was going to be a roof tent 😮 looks great with the new kit on. Would love to get along to a meet of the Norwegian LR club. Maybe need to try this when I am back over there 👍
Hey Simon and I wish the big reveal was a trailer with a roof top tent on. 😊 But my bank account said no. I guess you could fly over and join me at one of these events, always a good time at Elvedalen and even possible to meet a couple of Englishmen when you are there. 😉
Very jealous Simon. What a beautiful country you have...reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands. Some fantastic looking vehicles there...especially "Hercules". All topped off with a proper barbeque. 🍖🥓🥩🧆 Slightly worried about going off roading with no spare though 😮
That’s good, then I’ve done something right in the edit. 👍😊 It’s beautiful in Norway and loads of things to see and experience. 🏔️👌 I would love to visit other Scottish Highlands at some point, I sort of feel I have a connection to it somehow. 🤔 I would love to see Hercules up close and do a video of it. I know he has done a rebuild of it now so it’s supposed to be even cooler now. 😊 Off-road, friends and good food, can’t ask for anything more really. When it comes to the spare wheel, I was a bit worried in the rocky sections for sure. 😅 But I guess a safe way to be “living on the edge” 😂
As someone who used to design and build timberframe structures, that bridge collapse is worrisome. Especially as the authorities don’t seem to have recognized that there are some very likely serious structural flaws with this system. It appears as though there are other such bridges in Norway and Sweden, one of which also suffered a catastrophic failure. Be careful driving over them. GluLam and weathering steel is a bad combination in hostile environments 😬
Yeah, don't know the real reason but I heard mention of the the wood around the bolts being pulled out in blocks and the diagonals being overloaded to 200%. I haven't read the report, if you watch the 2018 overland series, I think, we drive over that bridge in the first episode.
Nice job 👍🏻. Those are some interesting Land Rovers at the meetup. With at at least one representative of every modification I’ve ever contemplated. Looking forward to more!
Thank you and I find it nice to show some of the cars there. Gives you kind of a feeling of how it's like to walk around there. And the best part is that everyone loves to talk and tell the stories of their cars and how they came to be the way they are. 👌 I wish I had time to film them all. 😅 Next part is coming and hopefully next Sunday. Will start the edit tomorrow. 👍
Nice transformation and also your videos are getting better and better. I follow along your journey. Can you please put a link or tell me where did u get the rock sliders and front guard, pretty pretty please? I have a grey disco 3 and they fit perfectly. Many thanks and kudos for your work :)
Hey and thank you so much! Love to get feedback and great to hear the videos are improving. 🤗 The front guard, roof rack and the compressor guard is from Prospeed UK. Great company and service. Not the cheapest option but you get quality stuff. The rock sliders are custom made here in Norway by a Polish guy I found online, can't remember the name at the moment. They are loosely based of some other cheaper brand rock sliders, but these were made after my request, they are extended as long as possible and I also got a plate adde underneath to get a better sliding ability. They are also made from stainless steel so rust is not an issue this far. 😊
I enjoyed the scenery and drone shots. In my opinion having a spare is a must in any driving situation, but especially when off-roading. I would suggest laying one flat on the back floor and using some netting to secure it. Not preaching, just making a suggestion. Good luck to you!
Hey and thank you Jerry! 😊 I totally agree and this was a combination of no time to spare, pun intended, and no good solution for it at that moment. It's definitely not a good feeling driving around with no spare in general, and with trips in mind it just, let us say, not smart. 😅 A spare wheel carrier at the rear would be nice but I don't think I can add the weight without being over GVM and not road legal so maybe need to make something my self. 🤔 Any suggestions are appreciated. Simon
Thank you and I will keep going, hopefully the Discovery will keep going too. 😅 Next mods will be some auxiliary equipment and such needed for staying out camping for while. 👍
