Most notable to me as a keyboard player is Jonah matching the horn section note for note with lightning precision. Talented feels like such an understatement when it comes to him. The fact that he has such ungodly great bandmates and collaborators like Cory and his horn section speaks volumes to what a monster is embodied in this individual……"individual" in the truest sense of the word, unparalleled, unique, GENIUS! Shout out to Lotta Wiklund who is a Loops addict like me and has absolutely no interest in ever recovering! As always, NORSE, is as joyful as a barrel full of………NORSES ;-)

I read a comment that that these are two separate sessions (Cory and Band + Dirty Loops. The videos have been edited together to look like one stage. I think they did this over the course of several days, hence the outfit changes :)
This one is a friggin rollercoaster ride! Tight as, and yeah, as you were saying, everyone is equally on fire 🔥 A top notch collab between these people, I reckon…as is everything else they did together. Yeah, “Rock You” and “Next To You” should be next. And “Hit Me” from 2014. All goes to show how incredibly catchy songs they write, different but still so much DL. And the joy in this..Corys big smile at the end of the sax solo is priceless 😆

You actually said it quite well, so I appreciate that. I'm in Atlanta, so not terribly far from you (I think you said you're in Florida...). Anyhoo...Cory Wong's band in general is insane. Every single musician is a beast. They recently did an album recording at Paisley Park and the whole thing is incredible. You should check that out when you get some time. Yeah, they did do wardrobe changes with each video. Cory did a wardrobe change in the "Ring of Saturn" video itself. Two diffrenct outfits in that one video. Since you said you had a list of stuff people have requested, I won't make any more requests ("Next To You", though...hurry up! LOL!) I'll hush now. I used to play in my band there fairly often, mostly the Masquerade. Is that place still standing??? I bring my daughter and visit family at least once a year. As an aside (and I don't recall seeing this in comments of your other videos), all the videos from this album were filmed in two locations. Dirty Loops filmed in Sweden and Cory and the horns filmed in Minnesota and they were stitched together in post production......🤯

This song reminds me of vintage Tower of Power. As far as the sax solo, there was a solo on “Live In Living Color” album from ToP where Lenny Pickett played similarly; also the first one i can remember that also demonstrated curcular breathing. Listen to “Knock Yourself Out” from that live album (it is way before music videos, so just catch the audio, i.e. no reaction video) and listen for yourself. Have you heard of another of Quincy Jones’ discoveries, Jacob Collier?
A Jonah Nillson recommendation: COFFEE BREAK! Then contrast that with Dirty Loops side project, "Songs for Lovers, Coffee Break is Over! He never ceases to amaze me with the diversity of his talents as a keyboardist, a vocalist, composer, and arranger!!! As for the saxophone's finish, it hit me right away when I saw the first video from "Turbo". It's the same matte finish as Aron's cymbals. I'm guessing this is an option to the traditional shiny sax - but I'm just guessing. Would love to hear from someone in the know.
