You say a water tray, I first bought these plants in my early teens some 50 years ago, one a year for three years as they died. The last one I dug up to find the bulb had rotted, far too wet. The following year and another plant I kept the water down and had it four years. I got another this year after a failure last year, it did well then I found two maggots had eaten the bulb. I tried laying the cuttings down on their side and that worked well, but this approach seems good too. I wonder which approach leads to more baby VFTs?
Probably laying on the sides as you did. This will ensure that both cut ends are covered in soil and there’s a greater surface area of the flower on the soil. I actually should’ve done it this way! What I’ll do when I get home (if I remember) is to turn one pot sideways and experiment

I'm worried about how much energy its going to use as my plant is still rather small even if it is growing healthily
Cutting it as soon as you see it is fine, but if you want to propagate it, then I think waiting until it gets to about the size where you can get 2-4 cuttings (like in this video) is also good, so you have more segments to try to grow. Since some VFTs only produce that one stalk each year, so you have that one chance that year to try it. Might as well get a few segments from it to give it more chances to strike and make new VFTs.

No problem!
When would be the best time to cut the flowers? Mine only started producing a stalk a few days ago so its still very very small still, should I just cut it off now or should I wait until it hits a certain hight? I'm worried about how much energy its going to use as my plant is still rather small even if it is growing healthily
As soon as you see it
@@TheFlytrapGarden thank you! I've cut it off now so hopefully it'll be okay
Is it too late if the white flower already came out for a few days?
No you can still cut it off
handsome gardener ;)
Mine had a flower but the plant is fine, and it's been there for two months now, so idk of I actually need to remove it
If it’s a very healthy plant it should be ok
Mine too but it’s got a few rosettes so I think it’s a little baby makin machine ... my vft is a SEX MACHINE 😂 ( can’t hardly wait ) oh I’m a dork 4 sure 💀
Do you sell in the US? I’m definitely interested.
I sell within Australia only unfortunately 😢
Can you cut them before they bud and can you propagate it?
Yes
