i love that his parents built the greenhouse right outside his window?? that's such a beautiful wholesome way of giving him a whole sanctuary not just for his hobby but him also.
Respect to his parents for seeing his potential talent and giving him the space to develop it beginning in early childhood. Future parents, learn from this!
100% right. Too many times have witnessed parents trying to dictate what the talent was to the child instead of observing the child and respecting their interests. I wish all children had such parents.

Sometimes I get inital feelings that American news reporters' jobs are to make the public weaker to feelings of initial fears and disgust, and to destroy a real sense of wonder, amazement and adventure, but then I ponder more and realize I spend very little time watching the local news reports anymore, so I could only be reacting to just this and a few other reporter's styles, but snarky, dismissive comments are abundant in the media landscape, so I'm not sure if I'm just feeding my own prejudices or am ignoring all the good that modern reporting styles have done.
Is it just me or would anybody else be tempted to buy like thousands of flys and let them loose in one of those greenhouse with cameras watching the whole thing to do a time lapse?
Just got my son his first venus fly trap for his 7th bday gonna surprise him later on today,he seen them at home depot and couldn't stop talking about the chomper plant lol hope he groes it into a hobby and keep him out the streets 💯

Get him several. I'm 33, bought a "starter" pack with a Venus fly trap, Trumpets and Sundew and utterly fascinated by them. They just want poor soil, plenty of rain and sunlight,...the rest they get from the insects...
Omg! I love what his parents did. I would be sleeping in that greenhouse. Lol i started young too, but I have carnivores, tropics, a little Arizona, and well over 345 different plants in just my bedroom. Lol palms draping over our bed, Habibi, my Habicus loves to bloom indoors more than out, and she loves to sit with my Nepenthes. I love them all.
I live in western NC, and it is about a 6-8 hour drive to the bogs between North and South Carolina, the only natural habitat for the Venus Flytrap. They are really hard to see if you don’t tread carefully if not at one of the overlook point. They are smaller than a pinky finger. The ones you see in the store have been modified to be more significant.
I love these plants! I’m currently winterizing my plant. Waiting for spring to come around. Even as a kid I’ve always had a fascination with these plants. Way to go mom n dad for supporting their young sons love of nature and plants.
I wish they'd give a comparison of these venus fly traps vs. the average size ones. How are we supposed to be amazed if we can't tell how big they are?
@@jonnaking3054 oh no, the ones in the wild are small 1 inch traps. However we’ve been cloning and tissue culturing them for genetic mutations that can make the traps bigger. But even those only get to 2 inches, things like B52, King Henry, or DCXL are the 3 top dogs when it comes to big traps as far as I’m aware. There’s tons of different cultivars though.
@@bouncyblight2001 when I was little I had a HUGE Venus Flytrap, we got it a our Kroger store, it was the biggest I'd ever seen! I would have guessed the traps were 2 inches across at least ! But the traps were also really sluggish and slow reacting ... as opposed to the smaller ones that can snap shut like lightning
Good for you young man that's amazing we need someone like you in this world thank you they are the most by far my favorite 😂 wow 230 they say you learn something new everyday I certainly did today. Thank you again young man 🙏💯❤️😉🌞😎
1. I am so jealous of that guy’s greenhouse and plants! 2. Why, for Pete’s sake, are people still harvesting endangered wild Venus flytraps when they are so easily cloned??? Can someone explain why poachers are still making money at this?
@@YaBoiDREX it was somewhere that I read saying that it was possible that gigantic venus fly traps existed near the end of the carboniferous period because of the existence of giant insects I'm not sure if it's true or not 🤷🏿♂️😅
To evaluate this “world’s largest of its species, viewers need to know that a “normal” Venus Flytrap is quite small, as garden plants go. Carnivorous plants are real, but they are far too small to eat a person, or even a Chihuahua. And they don’t talk, or sing.
They do better outside. Putting them in the house is a common mistake that leads to their downfall. The plants are actually from the Carolinas so they can live outside in pretty extreme weather
I think it’s not creepy that news reporter needs to stop hating
She was calling the fly trap creepy not the dude lol
Both news people complimented him. No hating whatsoever.
Guys. We're talking about the plants. They are just silly lil chompers, not creepy
It’s called having an opinion 🤯
You are wrong! Booo

Not creepy at all. Very cool hobby
This isn’t creepy at all, it’s incredible!
My favorite plant. Some may think they're creepy, but they're so cool!

I absolutely agree. Its like nails on a chalkboard sometimes the level of awkwardness in news reporting.
this guy is benefitting nature and the plant life on our planet. I see a citizen staying out of trouble. Looks amazing
Creepy? WTF? This is awesome! And props to his parents for building that greenhouse for him!!
Americans throw around that word way too much.

I’m surprised the record holder isn’t something like the B-52 cultivar or DC-XL
The alien cultivar can get big too
“Alien” is obvious but just perfect for a Venus flytrap.

That greenhouse is a fly's idea of hell.

lol
I wonder how many times this guy has watched the movie “The Little Shop of Horrors”? 😂
Feed me Seymour!
Bought fly traps from him as a teenager. It's pretty cool

Feed me Seymour 😂😂😂😂😂
Plant: "Feeeeeeeeeed Me"

Man! I was expecting a huge plant, not a regular sized VFT. 🤣
Yeah it’s a shame that Venus flytraps can’t get to the size of nepenthes pitcher plants. It’d be able to eat rodents if it could

Just you wait....lol
Feed me!
This got the making of a Goosebumps episode
He is the type of guy that plays Pokemon with only grass-type team.
He has a wonderful sarracenia collection!
“ Feeeeed me Seymore”
Sorry, but I had the largest fly trap.....Then I divorced her 😆🤣
awesome, hopefully someday a Venus flytrap with a foot long trap 🥰
I'm betting a trap that big would be very slow reacting. That would be a lot of weight to move.
I thought in the wild, the traps could get as big as a normal size human hand
Nah they’re really small and have a very short life span
Well done. Keep going even bigger traps 👍👍👍👍👍
He's breeding his way toward the Audrey II. (The plant from the movie "Little Shop of Horrors")
Fascinating! And beautiful
Best parents! So cool
6 cm? That’s a trap longer than 2 inches! That’s a big honkin’ flytrap!
I was expecting something along the lines of that biting plant in plants vs zombies
One day he's gonna walk in there and see a Triffid.
So that that mean he running a "traphouse"???
I just watched the movie Day of the triffids this morning on youtube. And now find out someone us breeding them.
This man will never have insects around his house
*always
They attract insects ya know
This must be what all the meat leaves are for!! Bravo!!
It's so cool gotta love carnivorous plants
I can’t even keep the dang things alive for more than a few months.
F****** love Colorado

How are you feeding them?
that’s so cool
Feed me Seymour.
feed me Seymour
Super villian origin story.
I think she meant that Venus flytraps are creepy not the hobby.
I wonder if he's hand feeding them hamburger meat. Or does he have an insect farm in there for live feed.
way smaller than I expected
I want one
FEED ME 😂
Why would it be creepy? It’s interesting…. God designed so much creative stuff on this earth
More drama=more attention=more money.
Them leaves are huge😮
I love Venus fly traps
Oh my hobby is titanic
Proud to grow carnivorous plants 😃
I came for “feed me Seymour” comment but I didn’t see it.
Amazing i would love to be there.
Cute! 😊
Feed me seymore
'Alien' is a fitting name for the plants that only grow in the Carolina Bays; odd landforms most likely formed during the Younger Dryas Impacts..
"feed me seymour"
Mean Green Mothers!
This guy even grows weed that smokes you.
Dude in little shop of horrors grew bigger
Awe. No “Feed Me Seymour” plant?
Ooh very nice 😍😍😍😍
These are the little ones that Walmart sells.
NEAT!! \m/
That’s interesting because I have dionacea dente that’s far bigger than his.
His plants look healthy as the dickens.
ɢʀᴇᴀᴛ sᴇʀɪᴇs 😍😍😍😍
Imagine 10 INCHES, rabbits frogs and hands would get demolished
sadly it's not like Little Shop of Horrors, Venus Flytraps are pretty delicate plants, a rodent or anything could easily tear it's way out
they can eat small frogs already
Maybe the plants name should be Audrey III.
6 cm trap. holy cow.
Wow i hope i can get a venue flytrap in my home, that would be good since there's alot of insects in my home
They do better outside. Putting them in the house is a common mistake that leads to their downfall. The plants are actually from the Carolinas so they can live outside in pretty extreme weather
If you have a lot of bugs you need a sarracenia or a nepenthes. Flytraps catch the least bugs ever.
What does he feed them?
You really don't need to feed them, it's just cool
That was underwhelming. I was expecting like a plant shop of horrors type plant...
I wonder which greenhouse grows the weed?
Bro is Crazy Dave from PvZ
Can I roll up that Venus Flytrap? Isn't it legalized in Colorado?
I only dont like to see a vinger going in the plant, it cost him energy without getting a meal
Funny when i say i grow Carnivorous plants, i always get strange looks, as if i am some kind of serial killer?
i guess im retarded or sum cuz i was expecting like something that could fit a possum 😭
shes right, its creepy!
