Magdalene Stirling: The Earl of Elgin's Strathspey - The Wager - The Perthshire Hunt

The earliest known Scottish female composer, Magdalene Stirling (1765-1846) of Ardoch was a friend and possible student of Niel and Nathaniel Gow, who published some of her tunes in his collections. In 1796, she herself had printed a collection of twelve tunes, from which fiddler Brandon Shane Vance and bouzouki-guitarist Henry Lebedinsky play The Earl of Elgin's Strathspey, The Wager, and The Perthshire Hunt.
