Thanks for the video. I just got one of these. Any idea what the 6 screws in the front do? There are 3 on each side in a triangle pattern and they seem like they are to attach something but I have no idea what.
You don't have to keep holding the prime button once you get a few pellets on the auger..once you get a few pellets inside you can stop and it should ignite
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ as a suggestion for your first cook if you haven’t done it already, I’d love to see some ribeyes made on or even a small brisket, I’ve never made brisket before.
I've seen a tip when you're doing.Start up for the first time.Take a handful of pellets and fill it in the Is burn chamber and by the time It's ignited. The auger will have brought pellets over
What I’ve noticed is most companies focus on larger models and say they do everything a gas grill does as well as smoke things. For me I’m not looking for a do everything grill. I like the convenience of a propane grill (I use a Napoleon Prestige 500). I mainly want a dedicated smoker for brisket and other things. The smaller pellet “grills” seem to regulate temp better and are more efficient at smoking meat than larger ones. Is that a fair assessment?
I just got one of these and I was looking online for a side shelf. There’s one for the 500 series Lexington, but says it does not fit the Onyx model. Do you know what side or front shelf fit?
@roadrunninhustla42x for sure. Have fun with it. Try lumberjack pellets or bearmountain. The best ones to use are smoken pecan. But you have to order them on line
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ thanks for the suggestion I have the bear mountain pellets right now I’ll order a few bags of the smoken pecan cheers nd blessings your way bro
Been eyeballin this grill online. My question is: what is the bottom grill size? Not in square inches but length and width? Unfortunately my local Wal-Mart is out so I can't take a looky-see
Looks like a nice option with the controller, Have to say my Lexington is a GREAT smoker, there is nothing i can do on it, that I do on my Stick burner, barrel or Kettle, Good stuff Scotty keep up the good work!
I am looking at getting one of these today. I would be seasoning with jack daniels pellets. Do they not recommend putting pellets in the firepot for seasoning it. You can't beat the grill for the warranty it comes with

@@ScottysBackYardBBQ That's comforting to hear. Thanks for the quick response. I was worried about size because I my extended family is huge and I usually grill burgers/pork steaks once a couple months and have everyone over. I was using a charcoal grill about twice the size of this Lexington. So, while I could have twice the amount of meat on the grill than I can with this Lexington, I was also dealing with slow cooks/fighting temperature. I'm thinking with this Lexington, not having to fight the the temp will speed up cooking and it won't be such a hassle anymore.
It's 1:05 cail time. Let it burn out for an hour just got a cover for it . I'll be cooking tomorrow on it thanks it's easy when someone else does all the work. Thank you.

You could take a handfull of pellets and drop them in the burner to get it started.
you could if you like.
Your auger tube won't be primed, though.
You keep holding the prime button until you see pellets then you put a handfull into the but pot.
That Onyx series pit looks legit...impressed how you manned up and read some instructions! 👀
Thanks. Still reading up on it. Lol

Good stuff! Looking forward to understanding about PID and the new digital temp control options compared to the old model.
