      @Vinicius Almost every single non-keeb enthusiast would pick a mx blue first, mx brown second and only all the other switches. @@Luke19-66 Depends on your definition of better. Is a shitty $10 keyboard the same quality as the Black Widow because pressing a key produces a letter? No. The feel, sound, and look of custom keyboards elevates them from mass produced boards. For most people the difference isn't worth the price increase and that's fair enough, but it is still a quality of life improvement. If you use a keyboard a shit tonne, have money to spare, and are interested in the hobby it's worth it.

    7:53 oh no, that's *very* bad
    all solder fumes can cause occupational asthma, which is irreversible. this is because most good solder wire has this thing called "Rosin" in them that helps the solder go liquidy and flow when hot.
    this "Rosin" thing is what can cause irreversible occupational asthma, and let's be honest, we don't want our hamaji boy to have asthma
    at the very least, I recommend using a face mask, but if you can afford one, you should get a solder fume extractor. but not one of the cheaper ones,
    it's best to invest in a more expensive one for the sake of your health. trust me, it's worth it.
    other than that, great build and video! you've really dove deep into the community since the last keyboard video lmao

    I feel so bad for the switches and PCB for going through with that solder job.
    Rest the soldering iron tip on the pin and the pad at the same time (preferably at a 45 degree angle), then proceed to melt the soldering lead into it. After ample amount of lead is on the pin and pad, do not remove the iron immediately, let the lead flow properly until it looks like mt. fuji then that's it.

    I'm like 90% sure the reason your stabs are still rattling is because 1. you didn't balance them (they have to be flat) and 2. you didn't put heatshrink on them. Also with plate mount stabs I definitely recommend 'band-aid'ing the bit where it comes in contact with the plate to make a tighter fit and ensure no rattle at all. After that, even with plate mounted kbdfans (what you call OEM) stabs they should sound silent (in theory)

    @hamaji - Hot tip for ghetto De-solder ... use thin stranded copper wire (separated) so that the solder will wick to the copper wire.

    You can put some foam or even better sorbothane to make the keyboard's sound a bit less pingy and hollow. GMK/cherry stabs are not as good anymore after retooling, get some everglide/durock/c3/zeal stabs, they will be much nicer, also don't be afraid to overlube the stabs, unlike switches stabs are more opened and all excess lube will wear out very fast and thay will feel good. Oils work way better for bag lubing.

  • @incongruous4
    @incongruous4 4 роки тому

    On the stabilizer note, durock, c3 and zeal currently make the best stabs
    also a solder wick is as cheap and perfectly good alternative to a solder sucker

    6:59 Bandaid mod is for dampening the sound of the stabilizer bottoming out, it wont reduce the rattling
    And GMK stabilizer are retooled now, they are bad NOW, try Durock/JWK/C3 screw in.

    I always over lube my switches because when you start using them, they will cover a larger area and even out eventually. I notice that if you lube just enough like for Cherry MX, they get scratchy after awhile as the thin application with some friction doesn't cover a lot of area.

  • @yugen0o
    @yugen0o 4 роки тому

    When thick-lubing switches for a solder build I'd highly recommend a post-lube test of each switch on a hot-swap board or switch tester w/ a keycap installed. Nothing worse than slow and sluggish over-lubed switches (same goes for stabs). Regardless, stock Ink Blacks feel great and sound pretty good stock.
