Fr the character designs are really weak. Overwatch may have completely fumbled what it had, but they started out strong and a lot of that was down to appealing character design.

@@Cmdr_DarkNite MTX are tolerable (still not great) for cosmetics. It's really about post-launch content. And unless you're making hand over fist with MTX, that content is going to get worse if you're not making money. Take Avengers for instance. Yes it wasn't FTP, but if the base game sold better, along with MTX (cosmetics), they likely wouldn't been able to keep up making expansions (Wakanda) and stories for each character. Instead, BOTH of those got dropped in favour of plopping in characters as is, because the money wasn't there to do more. This game might not have that sort of content shift, because it's funded by Playstation, but most publishers don't have a console they have to sell so there's less incentive to keep it going.

I was slightly interested until I realized it wasn’t a single player space rpg like mass effect or guardians of the galaxy and was instead a multiplayer live service shooter. Not sure why they went with a narrative CG trailer start when none of it means anything for this type of game.

I'm not surprised by the Dislike Ratio at all as effectively nobody asked for this game. Also resentment towards Live Service games have been getting worse and worse as time went on which we are now at that point in time where live service games are outright ignored with very few exceptions
I think big companies are willing to risk it to get a chance on being the lucky few successful live service games.
It's this weird catch-22 with games Single Player rarely sales enough to make overhead and multiplayer rarely lasts long enough to be successful. Franchises and indies are the only way

More and more developers these days seem to be telling us what we want instead of asking us what we want.

You know, you could have just made a killzone, socom, warhawk, or mag game instead? You have all these dormant multiplayer shooter games you could bring back but you decide to release this?
A new mature and tight Socom, Warhawk or MAG game, could even drop PS5/PC day one and will do numbers a la Helldivers.
I still play Socom confrontation on ps3 at least a couple games are going on at once
