Okay. take a deep breath. I am a personal finance nerd and I want you to calculate how much your 9-5 makes a year. If you are close to the amount you owe on student loans a year, you are doing damn good. It is the credit cards that are making you feel like you have a ton of bills, then add on living expenses it feels like a pinch. Instead of thinking like this I cannot do this or that, I deserve this thing or that thing. Think of it as I am going to go to work, eat very simple at home, take care of the pup, and enjoy the simple things in life. A cup of coffee made at home with the cheapest coffee you can find. I am going to enjoy my eggs on toast with a side salad for bunch and dinner is going to be some slow cooked chicken with black beans, veggies over rice. You can do this. And even if you have to work at the grocery store on Sundays to earn a bit more YOU CAN DO THIS. The goal is to stop using the credit cards, pay off of the credit cards then deal with the student loans.

It is hard to keep focus, when the pay off seems minimal. Get back on it! Budget every penny, track every penny spent. Maybe its not your spending, but the income that is the problem. Could you pick up something extra on the side? Being a widow and a single mom myself, I understand the struggle. My boys are grown now, but still lives at home.

The way we talk to ourselves matters. When we continue to express regrets for decisions we made, it keeps us stuck in cement. No one can move forward by standing in the past.
Many of us have a debt story. We know what it takes to get rid of debt and so do you.
If you're filming in your apartment, you aren't broke. Your apartment looks specious and well furnished and you're warm and comfortable. However, no matter how comfortable your apartment, debt is stressful.
You have debt because you chose to take it on. It no longer matters what you didn't know, or weren't told; your life is "here" now and your future is in front of you. You can retire your debt as quickly as possible, if you choose. You're the boss - how many changes and which you are willing to make to retire your debt is up to you.
There are hundreds of videos by people in debt on YT. Some are more serious than others. They tell their story, walk through their monthly budgets and talk about their debt. One I like is "mistakes were made". You might like the budget sheets she uses and how diligent and determined they are.
    You CAN do it!

Excellent statement. I totally agree. I feel like there’s some victim mentality going on with her. She’s fortunate as compared to many folks. She needs to realize that. Once that triggers, she’ll do whatever it takes to get that debt retired sooner than later. A few years of sacrifice are in order. She was willing to drag out those multiple college degrees and take on that debt, she should have the same gumption to find a part-time gig to speed up these payments. At least she’s in her early 40s, and not 60s or 70s or 80s like many struggling. She has many options, but I think more excuses.

You can't be that broke if you have a roof over your head! I live in my SUV (by choice) because I am paying off my student loans. My education got me to where I am today with a job that pays me well over 6-figures (combined $200k), but I am in debt and currently paying that off. I am single and don't have any credit card debts, other than my car payments and student loans. You are probably thinking if I make $200K per annum, why I am living in my SUV? Well, as a travel nurse, I bounce from place to place, so having a permanent residence wouldn't make sense in my case. My student loan is like the sword of Damocles hanging over my head, and if I don't keep up with my payments, my credit may be at risk. I didn't qualify for the student loan forgiveness, but then again, I don't care --- I only have $50k remaining and I make $5k payments a month. I have a bachelor's and master's degrees from Boston Univ and MCPHS. I work as a travel nurse and have busted my butt to get where I am today, and all you can do is make a video and complain about drowning in debt! Colleges/Universities like University of Phoenix is a school for profit, and not sure if those types of "online" school can really help a student get far, in terms of a career path. First rule of holes: if you are in one, stop digging. Secondly, get to work! Get 3 jobs if you have to. I currently work 2 jobs as a nurse and I pick up as much OT as I can. Sorry for sounding mean, but our country is so broken and if Tangerine gets back into the white house, it will be a disaster. I hope you figure things out on your end! Good luck!

So just from watching your video, I have some suggestions: turn off the lamp in the background. That is is costing you electricity. In fact, why don't you sell the lamp? Do you need it? Same for the lava lamp, and the candlesticks. Make ebay into a hobby (selling, not buying). Sell anything you can that you don't need (and that means, really, really need - your doggy needs food, shelter and veterinary care, she doesn't need fancy toys or anything like that, she'll be just as happy with love and play from you, and those things are free). Good luck.

OK. I do not care about your history. The only thing I will need to know is how are your finances now, how much are you bringing in now, today and that means everything? The thing is you can combine all your debt's into a one payment plan. I have calculated that over ten years you can pay, each month, only around $810.53 a month. You will have to work your backside off, but, you will get there. Cut your credit card up while you are in the bank to sort out your finances. Only take out cash or pay with a debt card. You have to be accountable for your finances. Go to your bank NOW to sort out your finances, NOW!

@@ralphjames4346she doesn’t need ‘a man’ to solve her problems. 😂 I’m sorry but the best advice can come from financial experts or even reading about low-buy/no buy methods and quickest ways to pay down debt. A balance transfer might be a good idea for the high interest credit card. (Or at least part of it. Take what you can reasonably pay off by the end of the No-apr promo period and transfer that balance). And then pay that sucker off. For emotional support I would recommend cognitive behavioral therapy or dbt therapy or resources such as books or UA-cam videos on the subject. They can help with emotional regulation and impulse control (which definitely comes into play when we overspend.) And also make you feel better about yourself and stop all or nothing thinking patterns. Change how you think and you can change your behavior and vice versa. You’ll get through this. Just takes time and being patient with yourself.
