So proud of you! I’ve been watching your journey before you payed your student loans and it’s refreshing to see someone that truly shows the process. So tired of some “drop shipping/lifestyle influencers, etc that say that they went from 0 to 150k a month just to sell you a useless course without showing proof of their “success””. Happiest for you !

I'm so happy you did this video. I found your channel during my debt free journey, as I was moving out of living alone from an apartment I was having trouble affording. I managed to build a more affordable life and am debt-free now. Seeing that you were able to reach $100K in 2 years is really encouraging. Thanks for always sharing your progress, Leila!

@PersonalFinancewithLeila what's your POV regarding mortgages 15yr (lower APR, less total interests, less time, high equity build up, lower cash flow for investments) vs. 30yr (little higher APR, less interests but mainly due to shorter period, but higher cash flow to invest)... If you've done a video...

How did you start your financial coaching business and what certifications did you have to get?

    • @PersonalFinancewithLeila
      @PersonalFinancewithLeila  Місяць тому

I started in 2020. I already had this UA-cam channel and I started by coaching 4 people for free for 3 months. I then started charging a low rate and had a few people sign up! I've still kept my rates fairly low so it can be accessible to more people, but yeah it just has continued to grow.
I got/have 0 certifications. That isn't necessary if you're not doing any sort of investing for clients. I always make it clear that I "legally" cannot give investing advice but I will happily discuss it and share my thoughts.

Watching your videos has motivated me a lot. It’s because of you that I opened up multiple sinking funds with Sachs and made over $500 in returns last year so my money wasn’t just sitting in a regular savings account doing nothing.
It’s helped me build an emergency fund, a down payment fund, and various others. Our biggest hurdle is paying off the remainder of my student loans (which I paid on the entire time during Covid because I didn’t find you until much later lol) and paying down my husband’s truck.
He’s taken my advice of making larger monthly payments and setting it up so the extra money goes only towards the principle of his loan. He’s paid down from $40k to $28k in just the year since I suggested it. I am looking into work from home positions since I would still like to bring in some revenue since we have our first child on the way! Thank you for motivating all of us to do better with our finances and debt!

I remember when you paid off your car Leila. You were so surprised that the loan servicer didn’t send you a congratulatory note or some acknowledgment of paying the loan off. I had just started to watch you around that time. I paid off my own car six months later and because of what I learned from you, I was not surprised that I did not receive an acknowledgment of paying off my loan. I didn't document as well in 2018-2020, but:
      2018: About $50K
      2019: About $55K
      2020: About $65K
      2021: $80K
      2022: $75K
      2023: $127K
These are all gross earnings and includes my full time job, side hustles, and extra income. Hope that helps!

Have you watched her end of the month budgeting videos? That's where you would see the updates. She gives you the dates in the video so December 2021 would be a good starting point as that's when she hit a positive net worth. From my viewpoint, her hike came from all of them, not just one thing. Her getting raises, paying off debt and consistently investing and saving while doing her side hustle allowed her to reach this goal. Sometimes it's not 1 specific thing in particular.

    Leila: No. 🙄
😂 cracked me up. I agree that it’s really the first $100k of net worth increase* that’s the most difficult. If you start in the hole, it’s really tough to break into the positives. I’ve been diligently working on my financial goals for about 2 years, and I’m about breaking the $100k change mark now. I expect to have $100k worth of investments by the end of the year 🎉
