Incredible insight and advice. Can't wait to use this in my draft tonight.

Thanks for the tips! Great video as usual. Been practicing on felt table. Going to my first real life draft May 4. Thankfully an owner kept some boxes for draft. Can’t wait for set 2 and organize regular draft night

Unfortunately all my local stores stopped doing draft due to low stock of products. Mainly are doing constructed.

It will come around, FFG said they were going to reprint bit by bit to allow LGS to draft.

@@Thorrk_THT yeah that would be fun. I personally love draft. I like that some people get crazy cards that often get overshadowed in construction/current meta.

Went 3-0 (2-0, 2-0, 2-0) and won my local draft playing Boba. The ratings helped A TON. Really enjoying both you and Garbage rollers who have helped my game a lot. Now question, what do you think is best control? Is Vader still viable? Thanks!

Glad it helped! I assume your questions are for constructed. I think the best control is krennic or iden green. Yes Vader is a viable option if you expect little to no aggro deck in your meta.

Regarding Leia, Tarkin, IG-88 picks, any thoughts on snagging the rebel and passing the two villian cards? Potentially could make pack 2 really beneficial if you happened to go rebels. You're steering them away from it.

    • @Thorrk_THT

I understand what you are trying to say, basically drafting in such way to force your neighbor into Villainy. Unfortunately by doing so you would be also lock yourself out of villainy which is very bad, what you are suggesting is basically counter drafting which is a bad idea for the reason I explained in the video.

    • @Jfreak7

Probably just worth considering just for your first pick. You don't know what your second pick will be (unless you peek over, actually, is that public information before they pick or would that technically be cheating?) For the second pick, I think you would have to go Krennic for all the reasons you talked about. Before your second pick, you can look at see what everyone passed and kept and use that as a tell. Quite a lot of people will pick that first leader and stick with them. Your very last point is what a lot of people do. Key in on their favorite leader.
If people want to get real nerdy with the math, you can use a hypergeometric calculator to determine the curve. For example, If you have 9 T1 drops, you have a 91% chance to have a play on T1. With 7, it drops to 83%.
Lol, all that being said, if I see a card that pays for the draft, I'm picking it. I just hope it's playable and not a double color hyperspace.

I've been doing very well in draft and have been focusing on my neighbors, specifically to my right, before what's in front of me. I think your suggestion is spot on. Being able to control what the person to your right has available can guarantee an open color combination being passed to you. I think this is currently the most overlooked and important part of the draft.

the leaders are double sided so they are open info since it hust becomes a headache to hide that stuff

I never played Draft in a Store. Who keeps the cards at the end? Do you keep the cards of your draft deck? do you call dibs on certain cards and at the end there is an open pot for common/uncommon cards.
I know this is not the purpose of Draft but if my pack contains a hyperspace holo Vader or a showcase leader, I'd probably take that card with the hopes that I can keep it. (Maybe Vader is a bad example since it is a really strong card, so basically any Legendary Hyperspace Foil)

Most of the time the idea is to keep the card you picked.
I mentioned Rare Drafting at the end (the idea of drafting a card because it's valuable not because it's good), this is completely ok to do of course, you are paying real money for those packs so especially if there is nothing at stake for the draft itself it make sense to try to get some of that money back.
There are other ways to do it that eliminate that possibility:
      - At the end of the draft players gather all the Rares, Legendaries and hyperspace cards and redistribute them based on ranking, players pick what they want (one card at a time) starting from the players who ranked first in the draft and so on until there is no more cards to pick. It also adds a bit of stake to the draft, which may or may not be a good thing depending on what your local community prefers.
-You can do the same thing but instead of redistributing by rank simply redistribute randomly, it's a good way to give everybody an equal chance to get valuable cards.
-Players take a picture of the cards they would like to keep when they open a pack, at the end of the draft they can claim the cards they have from this picture they took. So pretty much keep what you open instead of keeping what you pick.
-The final way to do it, it is to do a "sponsored" draft, where one player pays for the box, everybody draft the box and return the cards to the guy who paid the box at the end.
Those 4 ways eliminate the possibility of rare drafting but requires a certain level of Trust, so I advice to do it only with people you know and trust.

In store where I play, we keep leaders, commons and uncommons which were drafted but at the end of draft tournament we "redrafting" rares and legendaries depends on your final score. There is also requirement to use sleeves after we draft our decks to avoid any damage on the cards.

@@mateuszzietkiewicz5845 I like this way but it's very beneficial to good players and not very inviting for new players.

I nearly died laughing when he said that the only other game that was made with draft in mind was MtG. If you think that you really need to broaden your horizons in the card game world.

My point is if you look at the TCGs who are popular right now (Pokemon, Lorcana, One piece Yu Gi Oh, all FFG LCGs...) Only Magic and Flesh and blood are really deisgned with drafting in mind as far as I know.
I was talking about TCG here not games in general. Yes I know drafting games is an entire genre within the boardgame/card game world. (7 wonders, Among the stars, sushi go...), but here I was referring to actual TCG.

Without any restrictions on ink colour, the fact that draft is even a format in Lorcana baffles me. Seems like it's literally pick the best card from each pack you're handed. All you would need to pay attention to is making sure you get enough inkables. I've not drafted it though, so I happy to be corrected if Lorcana draft is actually decent

You clearly haven't looked into Flesh and Blood, bud. Better limited formats in every booster set than Magic.

You're right I haven't , the point of my statement was that very few TCG games support draft.
