Hi Thorrk ! Arkhan from Quebec, Canada. Just wanted to thank you for your incredible deck. I was able to win a 26 players store showdown today using your Thrawn deck list and two weeks ago I did super well at another one using your Han deck (31 players, did 5-0, but lost in top 8). Thrawn run : 2-0 vs Leai Red 2-0 vs Sabine Yellow 2-1 vs Sabine Red 1-2 vs Sabine Yellow 1-2 vs Boba Yellow 7/26 Top 8 2-1 vs Sabine Yellow (same opponent as 4th round) Top 4 2-1 vs Chirrut Red Final 2-0 vs Sabine Green Deck felt not that bad into aggro. I really felt at least 50%-50%. I would change nothing to the deck for the moment, every cards felt good at some point. Thanks again and everyone, Thorrk decks are fire !
@@Thorrk_THT yes a lot. Repair was clutch with the bounty hunter at 7 ressources and with boosk. Boosk is really good against sabine and so is the sentinel dude. Just the viper probe that didnt do much for me.
Just what I have been looking for Thrawn is one of my favorites and I have his showcase. I have been floundering with him and part of it was the trap of trying to play way to on theme with him. This looks like a much better deck.
Took a very similar list to my local Store Showdown and took down the tournament. Bounty Hunter Crew + Vigilance really put things over the top and helped stabilize things in games where I was getting low on health pretty early on. Eventually it was just too much to deal with. Matchups: Luke Yellow: 2-0 Boba Yellow: 0-1 Grand Inquisitor Red: 2-0 Vader Red: 2-0 Top 8: Boba Green: 2-0 Boba Yellow(rematch): 2-1 Vader Red(rematch): 2-0
Thank you for the deck tech! Very nice. I have two questions: If you control superlaser blast in your hand, should you deploy thrawn on 6? He is very tanky and can save some damage but is is worth it to keep him for just 2 phases? what is the rationale on this situation (also, not deploying thrown might be indicative for the opponent that you hold an super laser blast. The other one is: How to play around cards that fill the board like U-wing and Vader? The opponent usually wait until you superlaser blast the board to keep them, but sometimes if you don't use the superlaser, the opponent can get a ton of damage on you.
Ideally you want thrawn for after Superlaser Blast, but sometime you got to play it earlier to survive. It all comes down to the situation, deploying thrawn early is an indicative that you are under a lot of pressure not that you have blast in hand necerarily; And if that's what your opponents read that's good hold back thrawn to bluff Blast and buy time until you draw it. Inevitably you're gonna suffer damage if your opponent plays well, that's why we have life gain cards and exhaust effect to buy time until we find answers. All control deck have the same "issue" if they didn't they would be unbeatable.
I play a comparable list sometimes and would be interested about your choice of Cloud City Guard over Cell Block defender as well as Inferno Four over seventh Fleet Defender. I think those two might take down units a bit better. Is it for Childsen?
Cloud city guard over cell block guard is purely for childsen yes (the two cards are fairly similar in that deck). Inferno 4 is a fairly different card than 7th fleet defender, it gives us something to do early on in the game, the ability is good synergy with Thrawn and it's important to dig for the important cards like Blast and Vigilance, and yes more blue cards means better childsen.
Been working on this since launch and have been getting close. Greedo main is interesting main to help with aggro but I'm been preferring things like outmanuever to waylay or mao
Good list, basically my list minus Bib Fortuna and Spark of Rebellion, a few more units too but I think the same amount of blue, can get 6/6 Childsen pretty reliably. Sadly the leader just isn’t there, and doesn’t make the most of the current pool of cards we have now. Love the leader though
isnt´t it kind of risky to board 9 blue cards out and only 4 Blues in against aggro when you play childsen? especially when your deck has already 16 non blue cards?
How does this list compares to boba blue? I feel thrawn is stronger controlling with the exhaust and game vision but boba will probably speed up the pace. I feel like thrawn play style is so taxing and potentially slow that does not encourage being played in real life, obviously to play online is much simpler.
@@Thorrk_THT Based on Jordan's interview with Tower he seemed to mostly get through one game and would try to win that first match because the way they had it set up it if you won the first match and didn't complete the second then you were counted as the winner if you had won the first game (at least, that was my understanding from that interview). Beyond that the top cut split the money and some of those players left because the tournament had gone for over 10 hours at that point and would have been over 13 if they had all decided to play out all of the games. Jordan said that he wanted to play the top Sabine player but they had left so only the people who chose to stay actually played. TBH, I think this skews the results of the tournament a bit. Not saying the deck isn't good, it was clearly an awesome meta call - but at the same time having top players leaving doesn't give a clear view of what the meta would have been if all of the games had actually been played out either...
As I say in the video: my version has less unit and more blue to enable childsen. It's a bit closer to the hard control list we have seen roaming the meta.
Those are completly different cards, I am your father is almost never a removal but a card draw events. If you wanted to play I am your father it would replace Mining guild fighter. For card draw, I found Mining guild fighter a lot more reliable and can make you draw way more card over time.
Very different, emperor use the board a lot more with units steal enemy unit change of hearts and sac them , it's a ramp deck mostely, while thrawn blue is unit less control deck
@Thorrk_THT gotcha. Do you prefer unitless control like thrawn and vader or board based control like krennic and emperor in this meta? I want to bring control for my store showdown but if I aganize anymore over my choice, I'm gonna have a panic attack lol.
@@Silver-co3tb Both options are competitve the meta is very open. Green based control decks are more my playstyle and I enjoy to play them more. My advice is to try both and play the one you are more confortable with.
From my knowledge I don't think so, I don't think force throw is good vs hard control, while ramp with resupply and displacer can really overrun a control player with big threat is your best shot to win. Red makes you more aggro but not enough to win before the control deck stabilize.
why would you play out of aspect cunning in a control deck? Cunning is an excellent aggro/tempo card because of the +4 attack bonus, without the use for the +4 attack which is by far the best effect, the card is just an overpriced fog effect.
@@Thorrk_THTI agree +4 attack is probably the best, but disagree it's by far the best. Double rest is insane, bounce can be too. Proven by the fact there are times that the double rest + bounce are the best 2
@@jaydens8331 I disagree, basically if you double tap +bounce while not applying any pressure you are just fogging which not great, it's only good to do that when you are applying pressure as well, which you won't do as control and if that's ever the case you most likely want the +4 attack.
@benjaminbrozene I am with you. It's a great card for Thrawn control. Time walk the whole action phase, and/or kill a card from their hand if they have 2 or fewer units. It's especially good on turns when a leader deploys and you've seen that you have Avenger or SLB to exhaust them as well using Thrawn's ability after all the other shenanigans. Put Cunning in the deck for sure.
@@Thorrk_THT I didn't say double tap and bounce was great in a control deck. I was just disagreeing in general that +4 was by far the best. There are situations as boba (particularly mono) where double tap and bounce is best for instance.
hi dude, i always try to let's work this type of deck...but meh...is it really competitive to won a showdown event? honestly i will put out restock, 1 entrenched and search your feeling from main deck instead of boba unit because of sinergy with the leader, i think you understimate that power. Also you wrote against aggro and boba you will add units, vs control i will not change that deck: you are saying 66% of times you will lose the 1st match (because you are starting with cc setup), so in my opinion, remove restock and search your feeling for boosk unit, agains boba or aggro you already are ok, against cc is anayway not bad. (if for you boba can be not used).Friday i will have the showdown tournament. i already won 2 times in weekly events (one with tarking red midrange and one krennic control) but i dont take list so i forgot what i create before ahah
Thrawn is old hat, not new LOL Vader control is better but Iden Control is best as you are not almost completely relying on Superlaser like the others.
Never said this deck was new, but most people who build Thrawn (that I have seen) do so with a lot more units. It's true that this deck relies more on superlaser blast than other control deck, and it's also possible this deck might be worse than other control decks (debatable), however I am pretty sure Thrawn has the edge going into the mirror match.
Ive played Iden extensively and unfortunatly she is really underwhelming as a leader, very slow and very fragile its almost impossible to win the control mirror to other leader as all the others have a stronger impact. Bounty hunter crew indeed makes it almost impossible to lose the hard control mirror in game 1, apart from the green ramp decks, but those have large amount of units.
