In my honest opinion, may be because the driver (a.k.a the victim) is kind of "darker" skin, and by looking at his name, most likely he is an immigrant, and like rubbing salt to the wound, could also be a Muslim immigrant. Whoever was in charge of this case and closed it should be suspended WITHOUT pay, and forced to take a reassessment of their job duties. Until it's done, they are no longer allowed back on the job. PERIOD..
I disagree - Overall she made good choices in order to steal the innocent victim's car. Obviously having a dashcam record her was of no concern because the police will "close the case" without bothering to even contact the victim. This was smart on her part because she didn't need to bother with bringing a gun, which might have forced the police to do something.

I use to be an Uber driver and honestly people now and days are crazy! I love to drive but I hated the way people sometimes treated me and how entitled they feel, I’m still doing what I love which is driving, I’m a truck driver and I must admit I rather carry heavy loads than crazy people!

This is why as a part time Lyft/Uber driver I refuse to work in the city or at night. I’ll only drive in Westchester and Nassau counties. I’ve yet to have even one irate passenger or anyone attack me like this. And if they did, just say they wouldn’t have any teeth left to chew food anymore, yet alone bite someone else.
The police probably didn’t pursue this case because the DA would most likely not press charges on the lady. I feel sorry for this driver and others trying to make an honest living. Criminals hear about incidents like this and it only makes them more emboldened.
When the forefathers made the bill of rights they didnt know that the population would be what it is today. America prisons are over crowded at the cost of the tax payers with freemeals and other benefits, and the 6th an 8th amendment make every person regardless how guilty they are to still be treated like human beings. Also the justice system doesnt have the ability to handle all these cases properly because lack of lawyers and judges, so most go to plea deals and bot trial. i took a lyft yesterday and the driver not only had a dashcam but had a plastic barrier seperating me from him and i think all lyft/uber drivers should install one in their car. attacks like this would decrease a lot

She not going to get lot of jail time. I never seen a case where it was a assault like that get a year in jail. They may even just give her anger management class with zero jail time. To get a lot of time you have to pull out a knife or gun. You even have to beat that people so bad they have to go to the hospital. The jails or over crowded and crime is beyond way up. Do you want the cops to drop looking for a murder for a small case? The department already beyond short. Even in the pass I seen a lot of assault cases and they all are handled this way no matter the color. As a Lyft driver myself driving in LA can be dangerous but I’ve never had this type of encounter. As shady as this sounds sometimes you’ve got to judge people based on their ratings and appearance before you pick them up and trust your gut. I’ve always canceled rides if I’ve got a bad feeling
Being greedy is a bad habit with any job. Though we all want to cut corners and make as much money as we can you have to always take safety precaution. I dont even think i would work fridays in a city or even a little outside thats when you get all the drunks and druggies.
I would say judge based on the ratings. There should be nothing in someone's appearance of their photo that should give you a "bad vibe". Everyone cant be photogenic. This is why I never have a photo on my account but I always keep a 5 star rating. I only had a ride canceled once on me but it was only because the driver was my neighbor and I think he was slightly embarrassed.

When using Lyft and Uber, you only pay with a bank or credit card and it's been that way from day one for both as there are no cash transactions at all unless the rider gives a cash gratuity. Those apps are designed as such so that they can track down whoever orders the ride.

I use to be an Uber driver and honestly people now and days are crazy! I love to drive but I hated the way people sometimes treated me and how entitled they feel, I’m still doing what I love which is driving, I’m a truck driver and I must admit I rather carry heavy loads than crazy people!

She tried to steal because she did not get her way. So when that did not work she resorted to violence thinking that would work.
This is why as a part time Lyft/Uber driver I refuse to work in the city or at night. I’ll only drive in Westchester and Nassau counties. I’ve yet to have even one irate passenger or anyone attack me like this. And if they did, just say they wouldn’t have any teeth left to chew food anymore, yet alone bite someone else.
The police probably didn’t pursue this case because the DA would most likely not press charges on the lady. I feel sorry for this driver and others trying to make an honest living. Criminals hear about incidents like this and it only makes them more emboldened.

This is one of those cases where if the driver shot the passenger, people would be rioting and claiming a stolen phone isn't worth the cost of her life and that they should have let the police deal with it. Gotta love it!

I am glad they reopened this case and expect the police do something about the unprovoked assault that harmed this driver. Don’t be glad be angry at them for not pursuing the criminal in the first place. The only reason the “police” reopened the case is because the driver went to the Media with his story and footage and they had to save face.

i took a lyft yesterday and the driver not only had a dashcam but had a plastic barrier seperating me from him and i think all lyft/uber drivers should install one in their car. attacks like this would decrease a lot
911 operator: "Hello, 911, what is your emergency?"
Driver: "Yes, I was just attacked by my lyft passenger. She bit me and fled on foot."
911 operator: "Great, thanks for the update, and I'll just mark you down for case closed then. Thanks for calling."

She not going to get lot of jail time. I never seen a case where it was a assault like that get a year in jail. They may even just give her anger management class with zero jail time. To get a lot of time you have to pull out a knife or gun. You even have to beat that people so bad they have to go to the hospital. The jails or over crowded and crime is beyond way up. Do you want the cops to drop looking for a murder for a small case? The department already beyond short. Even in the pass I seen a lot of assault cases and they all are handled this way no matter the color. If the guy think the lady should pay big time he needs to sue she for his injury etc, she will not serve a long time for something this small. If cop put in jail every case like this we don’t have enough jail house to house everybody. It be even more over crowded than what it is now. Think about all the videos on the internet of people attacking one another, throwing stuff at workers, punching one another (like the one that attack that fedex guy a year back), pushing one another, etc. Just like the capital riots where those people was hitting police officers they still didn’t go to jail for a long time and they was repeatedly hitting that cop.

For the people who are working for transportation services, I hope that you can have someone in the vehicle with you to sit in the back with passengers. As a Lyft driver myself driving in LA can be dangerous but I’ve never had this type of encounter. As shady as this sounds sometimes you’ve got to judge people based on their ratings and appearance before you pick them up and trust your gut. I’ve always canceled rides if I’ve got a bad feeling
Being greedy is a bad habit with any job. Though we all want to cut corners and make as much money as we can you have to always take safety precaution. I dont even think i would work fridays in a city or even a little outside thats when you get all the drunks and druggies.
I would say judge based on the ratings. There should be nothing in someone's appearance of their photo that should give you a "bad vibe". Everyone cant be photogenic. This is why I never have a photo on my account but I always keep a 5 star rating. I only had a ride canceled once on me but it was only because the driver was my neighbor and I think he was slightly embarrassed.

I used to drive for Uber in Dallas tx and for some reason I only got white people and 99% of them were very nice and educated.

It has gotten to the point where Lyft,Uber,Taxi drivers need cars like the police have, with a cage that keeps them safe and separated, they may also have to demand people use a bank or credit card only for payment so they have a way to track down passengers like this one.
It doesn't help all those cops were let go from the defunding and the ones they lost over C19 jab mandates.

When using Lyft and Uber, you only pay with a bank or credit card and it's been that way from day one for both as there are no cash transactions at all unless the rider gives a cash gratuity. Those apps are designed as such so that they can track down whoever orders the ride.
