Hello, quick question is it okay if the timing is perfect up in the cams and timing chain. The piston is on TDC. But I can't get the notch on the bottom to align with TDC.. the atv I got it this way with no spark, hence no start.
This may seem dumb but how the heck do you get that cam chain off. I unscrewed the tensioner and still can’t get it off. I’ve never done this before so i don’t know where to go from here
hey banshee i put the piston in TDC and set the marks perfect horizontal but i forgotten here to set the flywheel in the correct position at TDC can you help ?
edgar alvelo theres a small access bolt that needs to be removed to access a slot on the crank shaft. location should be in the vid. it's been as while, lol. shine a light in with a flash light so you can identify it.
ok i put the Bolt in there lock the camshaft set the marks perfect horizontal all of that is done my question now is the flywheel or magneto need to be in a specific position or not ?

alex Fansler From what I could remember. It was part of the exhaust cam. It was a centrifical unit. I don't have much info as far as a diagram. Did you have to take yours out to install cams?
Banshee Fever 750cc adrenaline motosport was doing a valve adjustment for me and told me it needed more. So I went and picked it up from them and it was in pieces. Just did the shimming myself everything good. Just need to figure out how the arm on the cam goes
alex Fansler sorry but it's been a while I can't recollect how it comes apart because I never had to take it off because it was part of the cam. Try & look up BMW is 650 auto decompression or something related to the cams & valve lash adjustment. It's the same engine, but you might find more under the BMW gs650 because it's an Enduro & those BMW guys like to tinker & are big on sharing info. I wish I had more info for you on this topic, but I don't. I was getting the ds650 engine up to snuff so that I could sell it.
Hey I got a quick question. I have a 2000 ds650 it don't start with electric start button when the engine is cold. I have to bump start it n it fires right up. When the engine gets warm. I can shut it off n start with the electric start n it fires one once the motor is warm. Recent I did a oil change n the oil seemed milky. N the the light for overheat blinks after riding for a min. U think it don't start with button cuz maybe the headgasket is bad ? Please help.

You drain the oil before right?

edgar alvelo I believe there should be a key way on the shaft that only allows it to be in one position.
