- Happy iPhone 15 Pre-order day! Was surprised that I was able to get the FineWoven cases and wallet this morning. Spent the afternoon reviewing them and have come to the conclusion that FineWoven products are really just a bust. They are terrible. Apple do better!

Working on alternative to leather is a good idea, but apple seems to fuck up with that fine woven, it's not an alternative it's a knockoff

@@TechfulThinking the take is that this "sustainable material" will produce more garbage as it will tear more often, but on the other hand apple will make more money. and if we compare the actual damage to the nature, lether cases will be the winners as they stay in good shape for YEARS, you essentially change it with your phone, while it will take more resources (electricity, transportation, man-hour, etc) to process the new "sustainable material", as you change them more often.

I got fine woven case and it’s durable. No one saying that you can use brush and water to get rid off not deep scratches
It’s like how Mont Blanc pens call they’re plastic pens “sweet resin”

@@michaeleverson9465 Nice try, but no. Different leather comes from different animals. They're tanned differently in different tanneries. Some use proprietary processes and blends etc. Leather is also far more desirable and visually appealing to 99.999% of the world. Proof? Luxury brands like Hermes can sell a handbag for $20,000 and still have a longer waitlist for their products than this phone does.
This is just a stitched together case. Buy the phone from Apple, get a case somewhere else.

Thank you for comparing the different levels of force required to dislodge the wallet. That's a real world metric I can work with when making my decision to or not to buy one because the gen 1 always slid off when putting the phone in my back pocket.

I honestly love my leather MagSafe wallet. I wish they had gone with a silicone version.

These Apple FineWoven products may get a very short lifespan, may even get cancelled. Very dissapointing. I expect them to do much better.
I doubt that, apple is not gonna go back to leather, but it seems they were too much confident in that fine woven to be a decent alternative, it's not and in the end you just buying more of them or go for other cases (silicon or leather from other brands)
I have a feeling that it might not even last for as long as their silicone products and you know how durable those were lol

I’ve been using a Leather MagSafe Wallet for my transit pass for 2 and a half years now, and I’m surprised it’s surviving this long! Can’t expect this “Fine Woven” to do any better

The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
I got my fine woven case in the mail a few days and it looked abysmal. I promptly drove to my local Apple Store and got a refund. There are much better options available at 2/3rds price on Amazon.

The only reason I can think of is that these aren't like leather goods that can last 10 or 20 or 50 years--you might keep the phone 5 years and then it doesn't fit anything else. I love leather as a long-lasting, durable material, but the product is so inherently disposable that you never really get to see it pay itself off environmentally, considering how expensive cows are to raise in terms of water, methane emissions, land use, etc.

I couldn't be happier with how Apple's Leather MagSafe Wallet sticks to the Leather MagSafe Phone Case. I bought extras of both to last me for years.
What I love about capitalism is that other companies will take the place of where Apple left. I did buy Apple’s leather cases for nearly every iPhone, not anymore. Apple can do what they want, but it’s not in the best interest of the customers, it’s all for show.
Yup. The Apple leather cases and wallets were my go to for every phone. Will now look elsewhere for whoever fills that gap.
Ain’t that the whole point of ditching leather? It’s not for customers but for mother nature. If Apple is thinking of the customer they would manufacture a much higher grade leather or better leather that would result to people buying it more that would result to more ecological impact. Nature > Customer

The Clear Case with MagSafe is the best and has been my go-to. It allowed the iPhone design to show through and hold up for the whole period of 3 years. But if I want leather, it should be leather. Not only for iPhone cases.
Short, sweet, to the point!
I got one of these today (in the UK) along with a silicone case for the iPhone 14 Pro. I quite like it. Feels rock solid on the back and I like the texture. My beef is that the Find My doesn't work. iOS 16.6.1 recognises there's a Magsafe accessory present but says it's not supported. Tried it on my wife's iPhone 13 ... same problem. Took it back to the Apple Store ... immediate replacement but the same problem. Apple tech guy didn't have a clue. Tried it on 2 devices belonging to Apple employees - same result. Finally the tech said "What are you wanting it do do?". Well ... I'm expecting it to show in my Items in Find My.
Suspect iOS 17 will resolve this but let's see. (And yes, I know it's not going to function like an AirTag but I do expect the NFC chip to show when it's attached).
Yup, needs iOS 17 for it to be recognized on Find My. That releases on Monday the 18th. Surprised the Apple employees didn’t realize this.
The only one that actually tested and gave a review. Everyone else just rolled out a video that kisses apples

I can stay a little more on the leather wallets, I found a Baltic Blue and an Arizona at a local store for just $14.99. 🙌
Too bad those colors don't have the "Find my" chip integrated but for that price it is a no brainer anyway
To be honest, I don’t mind paying a little more money for convenience. I loved the leather wallet since I was able to have my phone and wallet on me at all times. I am attached hand and hip to my phone, but not so much my wallet.. I do miss the Folio cases Apple had in the past as those were the best wallet/phone cases. I recently upgraded to a iPhone 15 Pro Max and really do enjoy the Finewoven because of the feel. I paired it with a silicone case as I do love the comfort that it provides. I don’t think it’s for everyone but for people like me, i am happy with it. I do hope it holds up over time though.
If for convenience is your sole purpose, as you said, then what is the problem with 3rd party?
Great review. Loved that you tested the scratch resistant of the finewoven material. I brought that up with the apple sales rep and she did not say anything.
I actually like when cases get a used look, but leather did way better than the new stuff it seems..
im on a iphone 13 pro max right now with the apple leather case and i just love the feel of it. i hate the feel of silicone cases and glossy plastic the leather case is smooth but also has a grip to it and i just love it. when i was watching the keynote for the 15 pro max i was pretty let down with the new "features" but being my phone is 2 years old and i kinda want that action button, i figured i would upgrade. then i saw them talking about going green and getting rid of the leather case im like. hell no. so ill probably be holding on to my 13 pro max for another year and hope that the 16 pro max next year is a proper upgrade vs just a button and 5x lens
Thanks for showing us consumers exactly what these new products from apple are like. I personally like the leather cases so I’m disappointed that they have scrapped it. Apple makes me so mad they can make a great phone expensive but great then they push this crap out I don’t understand the mentality of their production department.
Shame on you Apple 🤨 especially for charging the insane prices of these cases and wallets. I won’t be touching these items with 10 foot pole.
It’s like Apple made that wallet so that it connects best with other finewoven cases, it’s a selling trick so you are compelled to buy a finewoven case to be sure that the wallet stucks the best at a new finewoven case.

is testing adhesion to a case WITHOUT an iPhone inside relevant? Surely the magnetic strength is a combination of the phone's magnets and the case's magnets. Could be wrong.
I have no problem with the fine woven wallet sticking to a fine woven case. I love that material.
I use my kislux as a work bag and have had no issues at all. It’s a comfortable bag, fits a good amount and hadn’t lost its shape. With that being said, I also take care of all my bags and don’t carry a water bottle, pens, keys or an hing that can damage the interior.

Got a Chinese first copy leather case for my 14 pro.. Seriously it’s surprising how similar these are to the actual Apple cases.. Even the box they’ve made identical..! Like really it’s amazing.. And at 1/5th the price.. Just 12$ …

Never bought an Apple wallet. Five months ago got a Peak Design Wallet: same price but thinner, lighter, more durable, better built, stronger magnet, abrasion-resistant, magnetically sealed flap, carries 3 times more cards and you can even add some bills and even coins.
That's THE MOST CALMEST GOOD BOY i have seen.
What would be your recommendation for a leather wallet (non Apple obviously) that’s as close to the original leather as possible? I’ve used an Apple leather MagSafe wallet forever, it’s become a bit beat up. Bought the new finewoven and immediately put it back in the box after briefly putting it on my phone. Feels weird and so much more slippery
it’s a swing and a miss for me. they had a chance to make it act as a AirTag as well like the ESR
I'm not surprised these cases aren't great but I want to at least give Apple credit for trying to put forward an eco-friendly alternative. Bashing Apple for getting it wrong, though deserved, isn't going to help here. Just my thoughts.

I received the FineWoven case and am returning it. It is expensive garbage. Literally, since it is recycled.
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
Thank you for your honest review. Unfortunately, I ordered one of these fine woven cases for my iPhone 15 promax next week. I don’t even wanna open the thing. I’m gonna look to see if there is a better option out there. I feel duped.
@Joseph-ke3xcopinion has been formed because it is obvious these cases suck. This video is not based on assumptions, he has the product and shows you how bad they are. Several reviewers are also having the same response. If you use this case 1 day they probably wont let you return it because scratches show up on it very easily. These cheaply made cases are trash 🚮 and will be discontinued shortly due to all the bad reviews and go in history as a mistake from apple.

@@jbld50 exactly. That’s why I go to trusted reviewers…I should have waited a few days before buying but I didn’t want to be without a case. I’ll just return it unopened and go with another brand. $60 is a lot to throw out for a case that most likely won’t hold up.
I’ve used the clear case & apple wallet for few years now & the connection does get stronger. Every year when I get a new case & wallet I’m like “there’s no way that’s gonna stay on” but after about a week of having them together I feel like the connection is very strong.

I have a woven blue dark from APPLE for 15 pro max with MagSafe case third party and I love it doesn’t even come off it’s hard to take mine off mines the opposite

So for an iPhone 15 what do you recommend for MagSafe case and MagSafe wallet to have the same Apple functionality but more durability?
This is for sure better than going for pleather or something since I firmly believe faux leather tends to be worse for the environment. But the premium nature of leather just can’t really be replicated unless it’s alcantara or something and I have no idea what the eco impacts are with that material.
Personally I feel like their leather goods had less impact on the earth than most other things they make but whatever. I’ll just buy the third party leather cases and stuff since stuff like Bullstrap tends to feel nicer.
😂 I ate steak and felt perfectly fine using leather products. Otherwise the skin would go to waste 😅 it’s my way of put a cow into good use

And leather products - bags, notebook covers, and wallets last for years and look better with time, so you buy and consume less.
Not overconsuming is key for the environment, not faux substitutes.

My leather apple wallet came apart. Hot garbage. I changed to a pop socket wallet and haven’t looked back. I did pick up a fine woven case with my iPhone 15 Pro Max and, it’s only been a day, but…I like it.
I’m going to have to get a different one though. This one feels like my “going to town” case. With me and my activities. This case is going to get jacked up.

What the heck is going on with the magnets in the clear case? Is it just because it is more slippery than the silicone/finewoven cases?
I have the Apple purple leather wallet and only because I am using an ESR purple iPhone 14 pro case ($20 on Amazon as compared to Apple’s ridiculous prices). The MagSafe on the case is SUPER stronger than Apple’s case or the phone itself.
The issue you talked in the end about the wear and tear is for every product you showed us. So even for the esr which is made out of leather. I am just saying. So at the end everyone has to think about that too. Do I really need a wallet with so many functions over an simpel one (Magsafe)?

Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…

Coming from a company that keeps putting out the same phone while raising prices, it's most likely not because they need larger profit margins. They most likely used cheaper materials while keeping the price equal or higher.

Ive gotten the Iphone 15 Pro Max clear case.....for now. Im planning on getting a leather case from a company that has balls still. But for the clear case, what magsafe leather wallet would be best?
I absolutely LOVE how there's no bs in these videos and how it's quick and to the point.
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...

I actually like the Fine Woven Case, but for the price point its just to expensive 35$ would be a fair price and 25$ for the silicone.

I was soooo disappointed when they said they stopped making leather products. Leather Apple Watch bands were some of the best. I’m glad Hermès still makes leather bands tho, they’re just not showing up on apple website
You have to do an iphone 15pro screen protectors. I dont think the 14pro’s screen protectors will fit the 15. 😄. 🤔. Im sure Amazon will provide the cowhide case
