I can't anticipate any issues, but I had to note the testing while so detailed also is not great because you cant A/B test something unless you only change one variable. Both you and the channel owner do not understand heatsink effect on ssd! While ssd controller works better when cooled, the storage cells operate slower when cold and degrade faster when hot. But too answer your question, there is a video on UA-cam from someone who also checked the chips underneath and they where even cooler then the double sided heatsink.

      The video: ua-cam.com/video/2hkNDJZuErs/v-deo.html
      But like I said, heat will always flow towards cold by law of thermal dynamics. So let's say that underside is getting 5 or 10c degrees warmer, that heat will move towards the other side of the SSD and into the heatsink seeking equilibrium.
      To test this you can take an old double sided ram module (if you have that laying around of course) and put it against a shortly warmed iron. That heat from the iron will reach your hand trough that ram module.

    I avoided getting a 980 Pro with it's own heatsink simply for the fact that it would severely limit you to what you can use it in. It's not going to fit inside a laptop or external adapter for example. The ElecGear or Sabrent heatsink cover paired with the 980 Pro (without a built-on heatsink) seemed like the way to go to future-proof the M.2 for when the PS5 is pretty much obsolete. Unless the PS6 comes with the same oversized slot without it's own heatsink, I can repurpose the 980 Pro

    Excellent video as always with great detailed explanations! Are you able to do the XPG GAMMIX S70 blade with its standard heatsink temperatures during gameplay? I bought that for my ps5 but am considering a sabrent or elecgear on top of it. Would be great if you could take your time to test it as its one of the best bang for buck SSD for ps5 in the market right now (at least imo).

      I have the Warship pro on my 2tb S70 Blade. Did a thermal test of it in my PC under a giant GPU that gave it little to no passive airflow and the GPU itself outputting heat. Drive did stellar, idle at 36c and didn't go past 55c during stress test. Gaming doesn't hit the drives like stress tests and hundreds of GB file transfers back to back. Sits perfect in the PS5 bay and hits ~6200mb/s with the PS5 benchmark

    Would it be overkill to install a Firecuda with it's heatsink as well as a Sabrent heatsink? I live in South Florida. My PS5 is in an area close to my house thermostat and the heat does causes the AC to run so I need to keep heat to a minimum. All comments welcomed.

    • @Sneakyboson
      @Sneakyboson Рік тому

      That wouldn't really work. You want the sabrent heatsink to make direct contact with the ssd chips via thermal pads... Not with another heatsink. Way more inefficient. Not to mention that I don't think it would fit.

    NASCompares tested different heatsinks with different M.2 SSDs but this temp. tested isn't always right because of different M.2 SSD installed with a different heatsink. Why not try to test 1 m.2 SSD on all 4 different heatsinks? I believe that T-Force Cardea SSD is coolest temp. than others m.2 SSD! WD Black m.2 SSD is very hot temp, not heatsink's fault. ***THUMBS DOWN*** for this video.
