The good old days. Watching this and then flicking over to ABC for Astro Boy, Come 'n Get It with Peter Russell Clarke, The Sooty Show, Gumby, The Goodies, Bananaman Roger Ramjet, Rocky and Bullwinkle etc. Such a better time to be alive. Simple and alot more innocent. Feel sorry for children of today.
Smacka's Party Album - available now on an eBay near you. (and thank you for posting this whole episode, has been wonderful to watch as the segements were originally shown)
Yes, I shrunk my Twisties bag due to this show. Showed it to my schoolmates the next day, they were in awe. "How did you do that" they said! The Curiousity Show is how!!
I remember making those shrunken chip packets. My mum was not a fan of me using the oven that way but she let me. I had a cool Twisties packet that came out brilliantly.
Great to see an entire show!! Really enjoyed Rob’s excellent explanation of the joints in our arms. And didn’t realise that the chip bag shrivel was on the show too; I must have missed this one at the time!
YES!!!!!!!!!! please please do more. There is something about seeing an CS episode from start to finish that does the show alot more justice. Like eating the individual ingredients of a pavlova, you put it all together and its like riding a surfboard on a rainbow. The show felt like it went for 5 mins.
@@CuriosityShow and kids got learning problems!!! Damn the Man!! By not doing it is an injustice. My friends son just received an award for ‘patients’. He is 6, not a doctor. We learned so much more from your show. It was interesting, the segments were short and sharp and kept our attention. Don’t let dictatorships ruin education!
Amazing! I'm 53 years old and always watched the Curiosity Show when it was on TV in Brisbane back when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, but despite all that, Deane and Rob are still teaching me things 45 years later! I never knew about moiré patterns until today! Obviously, I knew of the phenomenon (such as the problem with stripped jackets on telly), I just didn't know what it was called or that it was used to create "moving" pictures.
Great! We've been waiting for this for so long. It really takes things to a much higher level of enjoyment to be able to see a full program. Thanks, Deane and Rob!
That was great, thank you very much. Can't remember this intro, but the one with the plane and the dinosaur, here in germany... also the show wasn't disrupted by any commercials ... great times👍
How lovely to see a piece of my childhood once again. Curiosity Show meant Friday afternoon and you could really relax because you were free from school for two days. Good times.
Oh my goodness. How I love Curiosity Show growing up, and finally a full episode. Rob, Deane, seriously, even after all these years it's brilliant to watch. (love the matchbox 'what a cheat' comment. Hilarious!.
Actually looks to be 1982 not 1981, but what a blast from the past - the new wave music, the kitchen decor, and the chip packets (which I remember well!). Many thanks for posting!
Despite not being around at the time, this makes me feel a great level of nostalgia for an era I never was a part of, it's very soothing, so glad this channel exists to share these feelings.
The Company I worked for (Campbell and Cook) had a Christmas function at Smacka's Place not too long before he passed away. It was a great night. Smacka was a fantastic entertainer.
I have that moire book from when I was a kid - it used to absolutely fascinate me, I loved it. I haven't seen it in years, and seeing it again has really made me want to dig it out and take another look after all these decades!
Was glued to the T.V when this was on as a kid and now 40 years later I've got my kids glued watching this show - albeit on an IPad 🙈.. brilliant to re-live this ❤
@@CuriosityShow I understand mate. I just read the credits again and it sais Chris Munson and Robert Holt were responsible... Im curious if their watching 😎
The anatomical demonstrations were superb. I know rob is a zoologist by profession, and would love to see more like that from him if there are any more segments!
So very cool, in primary school back in the early ‘70’s, we used to shrink our chip packets on the radiators during class, haven’t thought about that since then so thanks for some wonderful memories
@20:05 I had no idea where I got the chip bag shrinking from until now I’m 34 years old and have taught this to many other people. I’m glad I finally learnt where it came from I do remember it now.
It's 5:35PM AEST on the 12 August 2022. The Chase Australia has just put up a question which had "The Curiosity Show" as the answer. The contestant got the answer correct. Larry Emdur commented that it was a great show.
I would of been all of two months old when this was recorded. May of seen it in reruns a few years later. Would be interesting to see a complete episode of one of the very last episodes made before the show ceased production.
Incredible show, some of these segments are profound, helpful, and whimsical. Then there's one that tells kids to melt plastic bags in their oven for fun...
The segments are great, and the adverts are hilarious, but it's the b-roll that really ties the whole thing together. You're talking about one thing then, boom, you're in a bottle factory.
Ahhh the memories! Great show! I love how in this one he is teaching kids how to cut poly pipe with a hacksaw - let’s see someone get away with that these days 😂
In the cowboy movies of the Forties there was a similar effect. A stagecoach is pursued by robbers. But its wheels are turning backward. Here the rotating spokes of the wheel conflict with the timing of the moments that make.up the movie.
the tiny plastic bags trick is amazing! i was wondering why is he bothering to put plastic bags in the oven? but they look amazing all miniature. and dont get me started on the arm joint. that blows my mind
My 8yo son gets 30mins of screen time a day. How does he spend this budget? As soon as he wakes up its a mix of the curiosity show segments and original pink panther cartoons. He's a good lad.
A lot of CuriosityShow fans have been asking for years for the channel to upload a full episode and this is the thanks Rob and Deane gets. Some ungrateful git disliking the video. For Shame 👎 I for one am very pleased with this upload. Also I'm still absolutely in love with Rob so you intolerant bigots can just stuff it!
one reason why something has become of us and today's children are so stupid. We had the curiosity show! Thank you for this great show...it also ran with a translation in Germany👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I'm going to watch this at 4pm so I can pretend that I just got home from school.
When I watch this show, it's always 4pm to me.
It's actually 4pm where I live right now lol
I've been told it doesn't really work like that, Jimmy James.
All it needs is an intro and outro from Winky Dink and the complete "getting home from school" experince will be complete.
Curiosity Show🍪🥛🥰
Am I going to be tuning in? I'm glad you asked. Yes, yes I am
40 years old and still as amazing to watch. I wish we could still watch a full programme each week.
83 going.on 84: I agree with you.
Really interesting to watch the adverts of the time, let alone the actual show itself!
Thanks for putting this up on UA-cam Deane and Rob!
@ 15:02 that Ford Falcon somehow looked familiar , I wonder if it was the Max rebate...
Did we whip inflation? *Looks* ..aw
The 1981 adverts were so cool to see!!

Come and get it, come and get it with Peter Russel Clarke. In the city or the outback he's Australia's brightest spark.
I wouldn’t say more innocent. More rascist, more sexist more inequality.
Smacka's Party Album - available now on an eBay near you. (and thank you for posting this whole episode, has been wonderful to watch as the segements were originally shown)
Available at all good op shops.
What kinda party though? lol!

I love this. The classic ad breaks in the middle add that special sauce.

I think we called them "shrinkies" in school, and put them on your bag or keyring.
Super-Cool looking !
Definitely 4pm a must-see TV !
Yep we called them Shrinkies and I had them everywhere!
And I agree, the arm explanation was fantastic. I’m sitting here in my 40s going, “Oooh it all makes sense now!” 😂 better late than never!

Been quite a while since a show has had me that captivated

Wow! Thank you so much for this - what a treat!

And the pipe cutting advice is very handy
I'm neither from the decade nor the continent to have experienced this when it first aired, but I like. It's got a Bob Ross sort of calming feel to it
What a great intro song. It's nostalgic while still really bringing the excitement factor. So well done.
Amazing! more of this is so needed these days!
I loved this upload. Some of the music sequences of this program are pretty trippy, too. Some remind me of Genesis pre-Duke era.
Thanks for sharing. ☺

My fair guess is that Moog synthesisers were used.

Fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. :-)
03:24 - Thanks CuriosityShow, now I have to go down internet rabbit hole trying to figure out what Smacka Fitzgibbon is all about.

Omg I haad that exact book and still have it somewhere.
This being my first time watching this I really appreciate the old commercials added in

Also to cut pipes square just use a little masking tape. 1/2" for 1/2" cut, 1" for 1" cut, etc....plus it'll stay where you put it.
