To fully understand Allison you got to understand where she came from. She used her powers the way hargreeves wanted to up until Ben's death, shortly after that she started using her powers for her own gain, she got famous, made Patrick fall in love with her and used her powers to make her daughter behave without free will. She lost custody because of this and she swore she wouldn't use her powers anymore. Even if it would have made fighting Cha Cha a lot easier if she rumored her, she didn't want to use them until she had no choice. Than she lost her voice literally and figuratively when she was stuck in dallas. And had to go trough oppression far worse than poc still have to go trough. She only used her power to save her husband from being beaten to death by a cop. And not until he wanted to know her powers she started using them... and the power went straight to her head. If he hadn't shaken her out of it she would have let that man keep pouring out the entire can. That's why she says the power comes with a cost. She loses herself. And that is what we see in s3. When she lost absolutely everything she abused her powers in the worst way.

The thought I always have about Allison is that she could be the ultimate supportive/healer among the umbrellas. With the mind blowing rumour at the end it’s clear she can manipulate reality, (plus her s3 power up) she could probably rumour away injuries. Luther breaks an arm, “I heard a rumour your arm is healed”, viktor gets a concussion, healed, whatever comes up, just rumour it away. But I’m also glad a power like this is used in the ways it is in the show, it’s interesting and I’m glad she gets to be pretty violent and creative with some of them.
Actually she is so op that in the first season finale is banned, she can't use her Powers, in the second lila also have her Powers and use it back, and in the third the enemy is not even human. Besides she didn't get the ability of control reality, or at least she doesn't use it after this scene

The way her power works, the impact it’s given, and the writer’s underuse of it always made it so interesting to me. Like you know when she’s using it it’s a big deal and it’s given a weight to it that makes the scene 10x more exciting. Season 4 they decide she has telekinesis instead…for some reason

S4 is just a natural progression (since the 8 of them consumed all of Marigold, instead of it being divided between 43 people) so she can warp without speaking at all. Naturally, that is extremely OP so they need to make the usage sparse.
Seeing this makes you realise s3 Alison isn't that different from s1-2 Alison. She was always on a power trip and using her power in selfish abusive ways. She was just keeping that part of her in check before. I could totally see her become a vilain

In the book she doesn't even have to say " I heard a rumor" She lied about going to the library at night to sneak out, which resulted in her making a perfect copy of herself that did end up going to the library. She didn't even realize she could do it
I like in the comic when a magician kidnapped her from the library and then killed her when the team couldnt save her in time. But when they got home she was fine. And Hargreaves explained that she lied about going to study at the library becuase she was sneaking off with a guy, so a copy of her was at the library, becuase "whatever Rumor says is true."

i definitely do think it was a good thing that viktor had his moment because his ability and knowledge of actually being just like them was silenced as a whole for a while, but now it's been going on too long. i agree with you, i think it would've been so much better if we saw more of her power.

Just like Allison flourished during their childhood/upbringing (becoming a famous celebrity, etc.), which we also never really saw, we were only told. *Telling* me the Black chick was super powerful but *showing* me her sitting on the bench, and *telling* me the White boy use to be benched but *showing* me him being super powerful is utter bullsh*t. It's giving Buffy/Willow vibes. As much as I liked Buffy, punching and kicking wasn't all that impressive compared to what Willow could do. But Buffy got a pass since the show was actually named after her and therefore centered around her character. Victor doesn't get that pass since the show isn't named after him, but because the character is being played by Elliot Page, the showrunners want to center all of their plots around him whilst pushing more interesting characters like Allison in the background. I'm over it.
To be fair those red flags were already in season 1. Her husband married her becouse of a rumor. She used it to put her daughter to sleep. She would use it to get a job. This development was expected. People don't just abandon negative qualities easily.
Now that the show is over I do wish we'd seen her rumour more people. There were times when she REALLY should have been using it (such as being the only person standing around while her siblings got beat up) and just *never* used it. I understand her decision to stop using it for personal gain, especially when she started rumouring her daughter, but in so many life or death situations she just kinda... sits there. Especially in the last season, after encountering Ben as the cleanse, she could have rumoured Ben into getting as far away from Jennifer as possible

Depends on how she phrased it I think. If she said "...that you got up and tried to walk", then the paralytic wouldn't be healed. If she said "...that your legs and spine were cured", then she probably could
The comic version of Allison might be able to because she can somehow re-write reality in there. If she rumors you can fly, you'd be able to. However, this version of Allision is nerfed. Her power here is limited to mind control. If the paralysis had something to do with the mind, maybe she could.
No. She can only rumor a person on what they are capable of. Just like she can't make someone gain new abilities. Though she could make them think they lost their abilities(even though it's a lie), just like what she did to Vanya. I dont think she has any reality bending abilities in the show. Just subject an individual into temporary mind control.

Reginald was scared of Viktor's powers and how he couldn't manipulate them. Also in S3 she tries to rumor herself into thinking she's happy and didn't work, so I think when it's about the psiquis of a person her powers are limited by the person's capability, as she wasn't able to be happy and Viktor wasn't able to control himself.

Them going back to the 60s was so impactful, because she’s literally the only black sibling while her white siblings got to go in wherever they wanted. I wish they showed more of the segregation scenes tho, because Hispanics also faced segregation and discrimination, so they should’ve showed that with Diego as well after he left the asylum. But other than that, I also wish they covered how it affected her. How it made her feel and have her express those emotions to her siblings. Because while they got to go in those restaurants and get a meal, or go wherever, she didn’t. She couldn’t. So I wish we’d gotten to see that.

I really hate how they got rid of the "I got a rumor" part of her power. Yeah she can get straight to the point with her powers. But without it, she's just like any other telepath. More than that you don't always know what she's planning/ doing and the phrasing of the words and her intentions used to matter. Now they don't. Also it's such a power decrease when you see her slightly raising and beating up a guy in season 4, from the blowing up brains and absolute control in season 2. Just like Allison flourished during their childhood/upbringing (becoming a famous celebrity, etc.), which we also never really saw, we were only told. *Telling* me the Black chick was super powerful but *showing* me her sitting on the bench, and *telling* me the White boy use to be benched but *showing* me him being super powerful is utter bullsh*t. It's giving Buffy/Willow vibes. As much as I liked Buffy, punching and kicking wasn't all that impressive compared to what Willow could do. But Buffy got a pass since the show was actually named after her and therefore centered around her character. Victor doesn't get that pass since the show isn't named after him, but because the character is being played by Elliot Page, the showrunners want to center all of their plots around him whilst pushing more interesting characters like Allison in the background. I'm over it.

Now that the show is over I do wish we'd seen her rumour more people. There were times when she REALLY should have been using it (such as being the only person standing around while her siblings got beat up) and just *never* used it.
I understand her decision to stop using it for personal gain, especially when she started rumouring her daughter, but in so many life or death situations she just kinda... sits there.
Especially in the last season, after encountering Ben as the cleanse, she could have rumoured Ben into getting as far away from Jennifer as possible

Depends on how she phrased it I think. If she said "...that you got up and tried to walk", then the paralytic wouldn't be healed. If she said "...that your legs and spine were cured", then she probably could
The comic version of Allison might be able to because she can somehow re-write reality in there. If she rumors you can fly, you'd be able to. However, this version of Allision is nerfed. Her power here is limited to mind control. If the paralysis had something to do with the mind, maybe she could.

Reginald was scared of Viktor's powers and how he couldn't manipulate them. Also in S3 she tries to rumor herself into thinking she's happy and didn't work, so I think when it's about the psiquis of a person her powers are limited by the person's capability, as she wasn't able to be happy and Viktor wasn't able to control himself.

Do you guys notice that sometimes her voice echoes, but then the ones where she was with Raymond in the two stores they’re perfectly clear without her voice echoing? Is that like a post production editing flaw or on purpose?
Them going back to the 60s was so impactful, because she’s literally the only black sibling while her white siblings got to go in wherever they wanted. I wish they showed more of the segregation scenes tho, because Hispanics also faced segregation and discrimination, so they should’ve showed that with Diego as well after he left the asylum. But other than that, I also wish they covered how it affected her. How it made her feel and have her express those emotions to her siblings. Because while they got to go in those restaurants and get a meal, or go wherever, she didn’t. She couldn’t. So I wish we’d gotten to see that.

I really hate how they got rid of the "I got a rumor" part of her power. Yeah she can get straight to the point with her powers. But without it, she's just like any other telepath. More than that you don't always know what she's planning/ doing and the phrasing of the words and her intentions used to matter. Now they don't.
Also it's such a power decrease when you see her slightly raising and beating up a guy in season 4, from the blowing up brains and absolute control in season 2. Where you see that the power does go to her head and why she tries to not use it in season 1.
