  • Funky letters by FMM are often used on cakes. This is a little tutorial on how I use the cutters. First I roll out fondant or gumpaste very thin. Then I use some vegetable fat (Palmin or Crisco) and sometimes even dust it with some cornstarch to prevent it from sticking to the cutters. With a soft brush I loosen the fondant a little bit and finally get it out carefully with a needle tool.

Hi i am using Renshaw ready to roll fondant. Does it need to be really dry and hard as i am finding it difficult to get the letters out.

Hi. We never used Renshaw with these cutters. It's always a bit tricky to get the letters out. But the fondant doesn't have to be really dry. We roll out the fondant or the gumpaste and then immediately cut the letters. Did you use cornstarch or vegetable fat to prevent it from sticking to the cutter to much?

@@dugehh1201 It depends on the fondant. It shouln't be to soft (like the fondant you usally use to cover a cake). You could also pop it in the freezer for a few minutes.
