2 Alternative Blade Assemblies For The Silhouette Cameo 4, Plus, or Pro

- Content on this stuff here on UA-cam is far and in-between. So after investing the time indulging my own curiosity about alternatives to Silhouette brand blades, I have found 2 great alternatives. The CB09 and a NCSign (Chinese brand probably sold under a ton of different names) "Silhouette Cameo C4 Roland Blade Holder +5pcs Vinyl Cutter" *(eBay description. Came with no instructions)*.
Where did I buy these? I'll give the listings.

I've Used the CB09 a lot, it works great... but required a special adapter to make it function correctly. I found this one out the hard way and struggled through tons of scratched up vinyl.
The Green Chinese holder I had never used in the machine before, and this was the first time I had it out of its shipping bag. It worked flawlessly during testing, i was not expecting it to work so well out of the box. I have a few hundred stickers to run so I will give an update on its performance soon, but this thing looks promising with the measurements I took.

Like others, my green Cameo 4 blade assembly doesn't position the blade properly, so the blade protrudes from the housing even when the dial is in the most retracted position. I assume that this can be adjusted by turning the screw that surrounds the blade release mechanism on the top of the assembly. My question is, what tool is required to loosen the set screw in the adjustment dial?
Never mind, I answered my own question. Use a 1.5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the set screw (located between the numbers 11 and 1 on the knurled adjustment knob,) then use a screwdriver to rotate the slotted screw (cylinder) that surrounds the blade release button, until the tip of the blade is flush with the bottom of the assembly. Re-tighten the setscrew, and you're done.
@ronleonard2415 You are one hundred percent correct! Great troubleshooting. I've found that not all blades are the exact same length. They differ depending on the manufacturer, so being able to set the depth to the lowest setting mark comes in handy.

Use the other end of you callipers to measure the depth, there is a depth slides out the end when you open the jaws
Yup, one could 100% do it that way to! I was trying to give a basic demonstration without having to go into explaining too much about caliper use. This seemed like the easiest visual with minimal explanation.
Is it possible to cut 2 mm Craft Foam with this blade holder?
Foam is best cut with the Rotary Blade and a very light tac mat. I actually use a clear cutting mat from dollar tree with no stick and tape the edges down for foam. Very messy and difficult to clean off mats.

Yes you can, but it is limited to the cut setting for slot 2. I demonstrate the CB09 in slot 2 on the above video, and the green one works the same way in slot 2.

It isn't perfect, and requires I bunch of trial and error do to the offsets programed into the software to accommodate the different attachments for slot 2.

Honestly, I prefer the cbo9 because you can fine tube the blade depth.

Hello! I have a question... I have bought the green blade and the blade is not sitting right like in your video. Can you please tell how to repair that?
How is it sitting? Is it the correct size for the cameo 4?
@@northernferrycustomization yes, its fitting in the machhine but the blade 45 is sticking out off the holder like 3mm and wont go further in... Or out of the blade holder. Can i somehow repair that?
The yellow screw was the answer... I just uncrew it and it gies like butter in and screw the small black screw tighter... Thanks for the help so far annyway.... And the green blade is awesome!

Hi , Have you tried the green blade for cardstock? Im having trouble cutting the cardstock it only cuts with 2 passes
I cut cardstock all the time. 2 passes is normal with thick material. In fact, some laminated materials I have to do 3 or 4 passes

I am curious if you are still using the China green blade? I purchased one and I am having a hard time with its consistency. I cut mostly paper and what works for one sheet doesn't necessarily for the next.
I am still using it. I have not had any issues with its consistency, but I did buy some different blades than what came with it after looking at them under magnification. I have been using it for mostly htv.
I have used my cb09 to cut paper with great consistency, but only because I have 60 degree blade for that assembly.
@@northernferrycustomization thanks. I have ordered a few cb09s but they didn’t fit into my holder. I’m currently using a Portrait 3. I just ordered a Cameo 4 but I believe the blue holder is still needed for the cb09 to fit.

Does the CBO9 blade work on cameo 4 plus? If so what settings do I choose under blade settings please, cameo 4 plus does not give me option to choose ratchet blade so what would I choose please
@vanesse baumann yes the cb09 blade does work in all the cameo 4 series with an adapter. Silhouette Studio should let you change it, far right in the settings. Change to manual blade.
