Cool to find this video. My existing 5 rib metal runs in the opposite direction. It should be simple for me to run purlins along the length of the roof and then add the standing seam.
We have a 140-year-old house we are redoing it it has a galvanized roof they want $20,000 to replace the rusty roof with a new one it does not leak what can I use to paint it really steep peaks 40x40x40x40
Your video would have much more value from a customer perspective if you said the cost savings over replacing the steel roof. Something like, save 35 - 55% savings over a tradition metal roof
I have a 7300 sq. foot exposed fastener roof that wasn't installed properly. I need to get an estimation for your system to present to my customer. I hate to have to tear off the existing metal roofing and all those fasterners!! I'm worried about being able to walking on the roof between the metal supports and not damage or bend the new roof. I need contact info please.
Hi, I have a question on metal on top of metal roof install. I recently moved to a new house and there was a new metal 22x30 workshop on a conc. pad. they did not use perlins and ran the roof metal horizontally! needless to say, it leaks where water wicks up under the seams. I have resigned myself to having to put a new metal roof on it. but my question is: can i lay the new vertical metal tin on directly on top of the horizontal tin? or would i need some wood or metal perlins fixed to the horizontal tin first? sorry for the long winded description, many thanks in advance. Wayne
@@darryllawrence2530 thanks for the reply, im not sure i explained it fully... its a metal frame building, and the metal truss frames are 8-10 feet apart, there is no way to run the tin vertical without either leaving the existing tin in place or ripping of the tin and installing perlins for new tin to attach to
@@JaneRoseDrummer I'm not an engineer but you need to calculate how many pounds of pressure a square foot the existing tin can support ( load)before adding anything onto it. If it's not sagging between the trusses then you could add huggers onto the existing tin roof ( you can still run the huggrs horizontal). You have to roll out insulation on the existing tin roof and then apply new metal panels. But yet still you need to estimate the type of sheet metal screws you'll need to hold the panels in place. I think the huggers are the best option if your existing tin roof hasn't rusted out. If it's sagging and rusting then your assumption on adding Perlins is the proper way to go.
You should record your audio separately, or have a microphone on you that is plugged into the camera.. When you're this far away from the camera and thust hte microphone, your voice becomes very quiet and faint, because you're so far away
Two reasons that I would think. One the exhausting screws will not allow for an easy surface to reroof over, and I'm pretty sure any exhausting rust would transfer pretty quick over on to the new metal.

Will this concept work for metal over metal roofing in Florida and pass building codes and insurance.
I noticed the distance between the sub framing, once the standing seam metal is installed, can you walk on it without bending it?
Not really

Cool video but I wish you guys had better audio/microphones.
What about eliminating the new purlin and adding 1 1/2 insulation board. Sandwich the 2
Can you install this on a bowed single wide mobile home metal roof?
Thank you
Can I use this over an existing standing seam roof?
Yes, you can install this system over most existing metal panel profiles
I would have liked to have seen how I connected the first sheet over there where he's got the C clamps
Where can I get them and how to install it please
How well would that hold up to 160mph winds? Luke in south Florida

Can you add insulation between the roofs as well?
Insulation was mentioned at 3:57.

Remove the horizontal panels. If you add purlins your wasting money on wood and screws.

What about a moisture barrier before you put the new metal on?
Fail. The insulation is for condensation reduction between the two metal panels. But theres another grid of metals that aligns vertically.
Show some details installed with that. Like drip edge.
Dear Aaron, all your videos can be made better if you use a lapel mic (collar mic ) when recording.
what is the name of the special pieces and where do we get them?
How about the fascial if our costumer ask for fascia
do you have system for covering carport type metal

We don't answer no stinking questions
why not just lay the new metal on top without that special piece
