Thanks for the kind words. It works fine just strapping it directly to the T-Bone without using the ratchet strap. I would use the ratchet strap as a precaution for a long trip. I did notice that my kayak will shift some times, but it's still secure and won't come off. That is especially the case with my PA, since it's heavier.
+MooMoo Outdoors it sure is. I have a slip stream carrier rack in our minivan. It's a lot more effort to load and strap down. I'm making a video showing that as well. Thanks for watching
Could you do a video with two kayaks on the T bone. I have a 2019 Hobie and a Jackson Cuda HD. Trying to figure out if I can fit both of them on the T bone. I have a 2015 tutor tundra with a 5 foot bed length.
Sure. I flipped my 2016 over and put it on top of my 2019. Then I strapped them down. That seemed to be the most secure way. I'm going to try side by side, but they can't be flat and will have to be angled. I'll show both in the video.
It's all personal preference. When your kayak is new, you get pretty protective over not scratching it. Once you get over that, it makes things a lot easier. It's a piece of plastic, so it's going to get scratched. You can get really crazy with trying to protect it. You don't really even need the strap in the middle for transport. I've transported with just the strap in the back with no problem. I'll probably use the middle strap if I go on a longer road trip. I'm making an update video on the T-Bone to show how it looks after 5 years of use.
Thanks for stopping by. I got the security lock from Bass Pro Shops. I've also seen them in Harbor Freights. You could probably find them in Home Depot or Lowes as well.
Nice video. How high above your truck bed can the cross bar rise? I have a Decked storage drawer system in my truck bed so it is 12” above the “normal” truck bed. I would need the T-Bone to be able to adjust vertically so that I can set the kayak on the Decked platform and keep the T-bone crossbar parallel to the Decked platform. Thanks.
I'll see how high it will go and let you know. Can your drawer system be purchased as a kit or is it custom? It sounds pretty cool. I could use something like that.
TomyTek Outdoors. Check out decked.com. Made in the USA. You can order the decked system based on your truck make and model. It is DIY or your local truck accessories company may carry them. BTW. The bed on top of the decked system can still support a 2000 lb payload. It is awesome. Plus they have fairly inexpensive accessory tool boxes for the slide out drawers.
Tbone looks higher than you truck bed : does this create a pivot point on the front of your YaK? - Does this create any movement or problems while transporting? - TIA
LOL! You are correct pare 🇵🇭 That was my first year being on camera. My camera presence is a little be better now 😁The T-Bone works great. I've used it with my 2016 and 2019 Outback, PA360, and canoe. It's makes transporting some much easier.
I know a lot of guys that use the harbor freight special with no problems. There are some places I go where I know the 90 degree angle of the extender will scrape. The curve of the t-bone helps avoid this problem. I also wanted an extender that was wide enough to carrier two kayaks at the same time.
I'll make a video of how I strap everything down when I do. It'll be interesting the first time we try it. I'll be checking my rear view mirror every minute.
Pretty cool, I have been contemplating getting some type of extender for my truck when putting the kayak in the back. I have yet to have any issues though....so I keep putting it off
That is a really nifty piece of hard ware. I need to look into the T-bone system for my truck. The Josh Green channel sent me your way through one of his shout outs. I subscribed and rang that bell. Hopefully you can return the favor. My channel is suppose to be a road trip channel, but I venture into unboxings, humor, fishing, give-a-ways and various indoor/outdoor projects. I'll catch up on more of your videos as time permits. Take care man !!! Oh yea, thanks for sharing.
Been using the same setup. Originally, I was strapping the rear to the plastic tabs, but they seem to be bending from the tension. Used my old Thule straps as well.
I'm pretty happy with it. It's much easier than loading it on top of our mini-van. I'm also making a video of how to load it on our mini-van with a slipstream kayak carrier. Thanks for watching.

Where did u get the lock from ???
I don't remember exactly where, but this one is similar to what I have amzn.to/3sv15Bb
thanks. best video yet. i tried tying mine down 50 times yesterday and it was bouncing up and down. i think i'll get those ratchet ones like you have.

Where did you get the pads from?
Boonedox sells them separately on their website. Here's a link to the pads on their website www.boonedoxusa.com/product-page/protective-pad
Do they come as a set of two? @@TomyTekOutdoors
Love my tbone, couldn’t get my 2 outback’s side by side but I stack them and it works well
I've had mine for 5 years now and love it. I had my PA360 and with an Old Town Predator on top. It handled it with no problem.
How many times are you going to say 'uh?'
Count them and let me know. Try making a video and see how easy it is.
Nice setup!
HB Maverick than you. It works well for me.
Great job on tutorial. Loading a kayak on a bed of a truck is so much easier than car topping it. 😀😀

Excellent and very detailed video. An indeed useful tutorial for safety transportation of kayak, canoe, etc
Safety comes first. Especially when you have an expensive kayak hanging out of the back of your truck 😜. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the info. Keep up the great work on the videos.
The Boonedox extender is pretty slick man 👍
That Murder Inc. Thanks. It gives me peace of mind when I'm transporting my kayak.
Great how to Tomy, that is very practical. Having a truck is a most if you are an outdoor kind of guy. Best wishes for you
Thank you Ben. You're right. My truck has been an invaluable tool for my hobbies.
Nice, but every video I watch, the person has pads, but yet straps the kayak in the middle where there is no padding.

great video , where did you get the trailer hitch security lock for you tbone bed extender !!!

The front does shift a little sometimes, but it's still secure. I've even use it with a two kayaks and had no problem.
You must be Filipino cause you dont smile one bit! Lol thanks for the video. I think I'm going with the t bone

Hey TomyTek! Great video! Looking to get a bed extender for a new hobie outback. Is the Boonedox T-Bone the one you would recommend?
I highly recommend the Boonedox T-bone. I've been using mine for 4 years and it works great. Thanks for watching.
@@TomyTekOutdoors Thank you!
That bed extender would work great with my native slayer. Do you think it’s worth the money or would the harbor freight $50 special work fine?

TomyTek Outdoors that’s a good point. I would most likely be transporting 2 as well.

1Cast 1Fish I tend to be overly cautious. It gives me the peace of mind when transporting my kayak. I'll eventually try with two kayaks.
Very cool , Im cheep so thankfully I don't have that issue yet lol , Have a great 4th !
Robert Agri Chillin' Outdoors LoL. I hope you have a great 4th as well.

Michael Lujan thanks for watching. I appreciate your support.
I love the way you blank the licence plate after it's shown. That made me chuckle :) Pause button ? Good video though :)
Thanks for the heads up. Just modified it. I should have paid more attention to it. Thanks for watching
