After watching last night's game against the Nets, I see the Knicks needing a third offensive option instead of always going to the same two guys in Brunson and Randle. They were all over Randle last night and then double-teamed Brunson as well. If there was one more star player that can spread the floor to limit double teams, the Knicks wouldn't have such a hard time when teams step up their defense.
No to Bruce Brown, he's just another copy of Josh Hart. They need an upgrade at the back-up PG spot with someone that is a more capable ball handler and floor general. The best fit is Malcom Brogdon as he gives you much of the same things that IQ did off the bench, and has the size to play the SG role in a closing lineup if Dante isn't making his shots. Between Brunson, Dante and Brogdon you'll always have two ball handlers on the court at all times. I like Deuce's energy, especially on defense, but his limitations in size, athleticism and as a ball handler really make it hard to have him your back-up PG. He's perfect as a third PG, or someone you can pair with a combo guard,
This is for Dan & Perry regarding the Murray fit. I'm afraid I have to disagree. Dejounte Murray would be a perfect fit. Murray is a PG, not an SG. While Brunson is NOT a PG, he's an SG in a PG body. Not to disparage or undermine his accomplishments because he is fantastic and a bucket-getter without question. However, he isn't a facilitator. He's a shot creator. That's a good thing, given that he is the only one on the roster who can create his shot. But Murray is a much better facilitator than Brunson, so they would fit very well. Murray didn't work with Young because they are both PGs, and he was asked to play SG. That's why they didn't work. Dan said he could be a better shooter. He's averaging around 40% from three at about five shots per; that's pretty good. He's an excellent defender, a three-level scorer who can create his shot. He's not a superstar, but a star who could help the Knicks. As for Mr. Perry, he drafted Knox over SGA, Bridges, DiVincenzo, Simons, Huerter to name a few. Though he might have excellent business acumen, his talent evaluation could have been better historically, so I take that with a grain of salt. Also, getting Murray would mean relegating DiVincenzo to the bench, which is fine because we need more scoring off the bench, so that would work. The problem with the second unit is the PG play and the inability of anyone to create their own shot. Duce isn't a PG; he's an undersized SG trying to play the PG position. He needs to facilitate better, and he needs a handle. He's a scrappy kinda player, which you can applaud, but he isn't the backup PG answer. We need more scoring and facilitating off the bench. Here, we could take a flyer on some young talent on a low-risk, high-reward deal. Two young players come to mind-Tre Mann from OKC, and Bones Hyland from LAC. We could have either one for 2nd rounders. I'm biased since I'm the president of the Tre Mann hive, so of course, I would want him, but I think both would help our bench for next to nothing.
Kyle Lowry is a terrible idea. Back when he was with Toronto, Kyle did the driving to the net while Fred VanVleet used his perimeter shooting. Very balanced tandem. Since then Kyle has lost a step and his shooting has declined. I’d rather have Burks who knows his role and the Thins system.
We all already know that the Knicks get no respect from the League or the National media. But the slandering of Jalen Brunson and his game is starting to get personal. The Knicks have some fuel to work with going forward.🗽
Is this Knicks fan tv?? 😂 losing internet!! It’s not about a “name” “star” we have 2 “stars” Mitch get health little more scoring off the bench we on it!!
Maybe the worst production of any video ive seen in years!!!!! U have to upgrade to at least 200gb service SNY and ask more Qs of the guy who acquired 90% of the roster, not Dan. Crazy waste of time
It sounded like it was produced in a phone booth, with all the ambient noise, guys forgetting they are mic'd up etc, jarring and unnecessary interstitial music. What the hell SNY.
To not go after DeRozen or Murray hard with their versatility and ability to play 1 when B out and depth of Di… are they clueless? Build bench too, but a scoring versatile 2 is the answer everything else icing
Scott Perry is absolutely right Knicks don’t need a superstar they need a superstar in their role and that guy is Mykal Bridges Give them whatever they want besides Brunson/Randle/OG
That would not be smart. Also the nets will never trade him to the Knicks so the only way it happens if the Knicks gut the roster which would be counterproductive
@@Albeesqware sure they would if it was the best offer and nets wouldn’t want contracts might have to give up Grimes maybe Mitch(worse case scenario)and a bunch of picks
I’ve heard rumors of Daniel Gafford from Washington. I would really try and get that deal done, because I’m not going to be able to rely on Hartenstein, and Robinson mite just have had his last injury for the NYK’s.
Trade Fournier, Grimes, Arcidacono and that Pistons protected 1st to Detroit for Bojan and Burks. Works financially, gets NY major shooting/scoring off the bench. 2nd unit of Burks/Hart/Bojan and a healthy Robinson would be stout for the playoffs.
Since the OG trade (13 games) the Knicks bench is 2nd in rebounds, 2nd in defensive rating, and 6th in overall net rating among all league benches. Deuce and Grimes are exceeding IQ's production. No need for a move. Wait until Mitch gets back.
Is it true Toronto hates New York and at the end of the season OG goes back to Toronto the Knicks wont be able to afford him making Toronto a bad team to trade with but a potential contender
When we talk about players being ball dominant right and complementing Julius and Jalen what star player are you bringing in that isnt going to want the ball ?
@Skywalker721 Correct and the star players everyone's expectations of trading for are superstar players that are usually ball dominant or need the ball so they need to make it make sense.
Actually he was an Allstar in SA and simply doesn’t fit with Trae in ATL…. Trae is toxic and has terminated multiple coaches and divided the locker room. Murray would fit well inNy if he was a primary defender with the starters and a primary scorer with the bench
Those players would not make NY championship contenders. They wouldn’t even play a lot of minutes because Thibs is playing Brunson, Obi, & Randle 40+ in the playoffs.
@@anthonylarocco6763 what you fail to realize is that those mins have to come from somewhere. DiVincenzo is 2nd in the NBA is 3pt%, so playing him less mins is counterproductive & he’s already unhappy that he doesn’t play more minutes. Both Hart & Grimes have expressed their unhappiness with their lack of mins this season. So there’s no way DiVincenzo & Hart would accept that Brogdon joins the team and plays more mins than both of them as players who do the dirty work for NY. Trading for Brogdon would directly force Grimes to demand a trade because he’s already looking to get traded as is. Brogdon isn’t good enough to undermine Brunson’s Villanueva teammates.
Those guys would help, but if this team wants to win a championship they need another significant player. Both require first rounders to get them so you're trading away valuable assets that might be needed for a star player. Also, Malcolm Brogdon is quite injury prone. If you look back, his games per year hover around 50. So if you're planning on flipping him, you run the risk of him getting injured and not worth anything. I like those 2 players, but this team is closing in on competing. They need a ball handler/scorer for bench and a significant player to round out starting line up. I would try for Kyle Lowry, Burks or Tyus Jones for bench. And I would try for Murray in starting lineup. I think it's inevitable that a significant player coming in is going to be more ball dominant. Murray did so many things well on Spurs that you gotta believe he can regain that form. Like the true fit for the Knicks would be a prime Klay Thompson. There aren't many players like that and none are available.
