1st time ive seen traveler bloggers not try the 2 cheesesteak tourist traps Pats and Genos. Good cheesesteak choices on Dallesandros...Ive lived in philly all my life and never had dallesandros lol never in the area. maybe 1 day I'll get there
We considered them but at the end of the day we were really trying to find quality over the gimmick! We decided we were happy for the video to do a bit worse for a better cheesesteak 😄
Such a great tour of our lovely city. Your pretzel reaction made me laugh - I’ll never understand why we eat so many. You made the right choice by making the trek out to Dal’s. It’s an institution worthy of merch, and no other cheesesteak will ever compare. Pre-Covid you could sit inside at a counter and have a beer too.
wow, you're so close to me, or were. I moved to Philly a few years ago, well across the river in NJ. I actually never saw Independence Hall because they were always sold out. Didn't want to pay the dollar. I rarely go over to Philly for food. Reading Terminal is fun, I might have been there around the same time as you actually. Not really into pretzels (those flat shape ones are typical over here) or cheesesteaks (but I like the type you got). There's a good BBQ place called Mike's BBQ but if anywhere in Texas is on your travel list, just go there. You were close to chinatown its not that great. I usually drive up to Flushing in NY (it's better than the one in manhattan. Ofcourse if you've been to asia, it's better and cheaper there. With all the traveling I do, I'll prob run into you to someday lol
😄 we missed Texas unfortunately 😞 but have been having some much fun through the states. Luckily we get our bbq fill in Nashville next week! (The videos are a couple of weeks behind! 😄)
I loved the old town, beautiful alley and buildings. The terminal markets looked huge with so many choices. The Philly cheesesteak looked amazing, so much meat, I’m surprised you both got through it. Beautiful video. Miss you both, love you both, mum.xx ❤️
Glad that you had the opportunity to try to Philly cheesesteak. There is a guy named Eddie Doyle that has a UA-cam channel an is a Uber driver in Philadelphia. He is quite the popular Uber driver there and records videos from this Dash Cam.
I was first introduced to the concept of the Philly cheesesteak by the late Anthony Bourdain in one of his food and travel programmes on television, but the ones he (somewhat dismissively) featured looked quite different to yours. You certainly got masses of meat in yours. Looks like you had a great time in the city, well worth exploring. That old residential street reminds me of old streets in Dutch towns, similar architectural styles, very nice indeed.
Philly is a great city, a great place to explore in foot, basic common sense and your fine. With that in mind, did you visit some of the neighborhoods? There’s lots of great food in South Philly. You’ve got the Italian Market which speaks for itself. There’s also phenomenal Vietnamese, Thai and Cambodian food around that area. Dalessandro’s is worth the trip to Roxborough if you’re into cheesesteaks. They are the favorite of a good biddy of mine, speaking for myself, I’d have sent you to either Angelo’s, a block north of the Italian market. John’s Roast Pork is another, they have a great cheesesteak. That aside, the Roast Pork with sharp provolone and in John’s case spinach, that’s the real show stopper. Nice job with the video, there’s so much to see in Philly. They’ve got great restaurants too.
thanks so much! totally agree, it's so hard to try and fit things into our time in big cities like Philly. we like leaving a few things undone so we have a good excuse to return though ;)
Careful in Philly. One of the highest crime cities in America. Also, you missed Hershel's in Reading Terminal. They have the best Jewish deli sandwiches (corned beef reuben in particular) in the US. I'm a native New Yorker and it's better than anything we have in NYC.

Ooooohh sitting inside would have been great, it looked like it had a really good vibe in there!
People still live in those houses
That’s so cool! They must be wildly expensive 🤣
Oh wow you’re in my city! Have been following you guys since Vietnam.
Oh wow! That's so cool 😄 thanks for following along 😊

Oh that's a cool idea, we should have tried to get his uber 😄 Thanks for letting us know! 😊

Very similar to some old Dutch towns! The cheese steak almost defeated us 😄 it was so much meat!
