Nothing wrong with talking vids. If a guy listens he might actually learn something.

I've said for years that Deere equipment can't be that bad, if they were they wouldn't sell so many. But no one can build something as infallible as the Deere guys believe. The real strength of The Company is their marketing.

Fun fact: The Allis 7000 series cab was about 10db quieter then the soundguard when they both came out in 73. Albeit a small cab. If its paid for and working.....its a good tractor

That doesn’t surprise me I spent a fair amount of time and in a 7000 series Allis Chalmers I don’t remember it being that bad

I used to be that “Deere guy” when I was a kid but especially the last 10ish years I’ve become way less biased. We just always had Deere stuff on the farm I grew up around. Also being a Deere mechanic I see things Deere did well and not so well. They all have their good and their bad, no matter what color it is. In all honesty, I want some of every brand

Great video. You certainly know your brands and models. I’m first and foremost an IH guy but have a soft spot for antiques of all brands. On my little farm I’ve switched over to using Oliver. Like you, if I had deep pockets I’d have sheds full of tractors of all colors!

I'm going to get you a boat ore to stir the pot with. I enjoy your talk vids as I always learn something. I was raised on a Super 88, 1800B, and 1850, as well as IH 460, 350Utility, and 606. We presently farm with JD 4440, 4230, White 185 FWA and the old IH 460 which was totally restored about 15 years ago. As you can see we have a rainbow of equipment. All have their place in the operation. Keep them coming kiddo.

Love the video. Not because of the bashing, but because of all the information you give out. I do have say there were parts that were hilarious. Liked the way you started it. With the wealth of knowledge you share, I could listen to you for hours. And anyone who gets upset because you take some time for yourself, they can suck on an egg. You deserve a break from everything, so I hope you have a great time and I'll still be here waiting when you get back.

One of my grandpa’s farmed with Allis Chalmers tractors, that’s why I like & own some. But I own other brands as well. I own A/C 1952 CA & 1960 D-15, 1947 Case VAC, 1/2 of a 1949 JD MT (the other half is owned by my wife), & a 1957 Massey Harris 333 with a front end loader. I like the look of the 1960s models of Cases, 730 etc. So I like all tractors regardless of brand. Tractors are neat machines & do great work for us humans. Thank The Lord we don’t have to use horses anymore!

An allis 8000 series would look good on your farm haha. Grew up with one around the farm and always enjoyed riding in the big cab. Could here the turbo 426 allis even through the muffler. Nothing looks better than those series of tractors. Really good solid tractors.

I agree with the vast majority of what you said. It was well thought out and explained so people could understand. While I do run a JD combine (because I couldn't find an Oliver or White locally, I do prefer Oliver tractors for the same reasons you stated. If someone else likes another color, I say "go for it". Doesn't affect me one bit. I know what "I" like and no one will change my mind. Good video.

It sounds like I may be in the minority here but I actually like the sound guard cabs and I don’t know why maybe it’s just that they’re different. I grew up riding in a Allis Chalmers 70 to 80 and then my dad a Ford of similar vintage with a loader on it and then he sold both of those tractors and bought a Ford 8240 which I spent a lot of time in and I cab it was actually comfortable. I can’t tell you how many times I hit my head on the side window. My uncle owned a John Deere 4440 and then later on I think he owned a 7000 series deer with a loader on it.Growing up my dad always said that John Deere was just over priced green paint and that you could get the same tractor in a different color they would do the same job for a lot less.

Great video! Im a John Deere guy but not the Deere guy like youre talking about. My dream tractor is a Case 2390! They just looked mean and they were a beast in the field, followed by a spirit of 76. Im currently looking for a Farmall M that my grandpa owned. I agree with ya, I grew up running 10 and 20 series Deeres and my dealer is close and accessible. Great insight

I grew up around IH. My grandpa had a 1256(cab), wht stripe 1066(cab), narrow front diesel 806. Loved those tractors. He later got a JD 4640 to replace the 1256. Used to farm for my ex father in law who had a Massey 2655(cab) and an Oliver 1955(cab) loved both of them to! Only complaint was the Perkins was so freaking loud you couldn't run with the windows open lol...... only JD I ever really loved the look of was the 5020, just always looked like muscle tractor to me! Great video, didn't mind the talking at all!

The biggest thing I wish oliver would have done that could have carried on into the whites would have been if they would have put a foot throttle on the 00/50 or 55 series. That would have made a world of difference and if anything bigger then a 1600 would have ran the free floating collar like the 2050 and 2150 had. Keep up the good work boss👍

I always wondered why Deere offered only Syncro Range on the 4320. I wondered why PowerShift
was not offered. We used Deere on our dairy farm: 2010, 3020, several 4020's, two 4320's.
Corporations do a lot of nasty stuff. My father had Olivers in the late 1940's to 1950's. Dad
said he moved from Oliver to Deere, only because Oliver parts were hard to get in Northern NYS.
I guess Deere had better dealers. After my parents got out of dairy farming in the downturn
of 1974-195, I went off to college to study engineering. Today, I personally prefer the engineering
of Olivers. But I guess Deere has survived because of their strength in marketing and dealers.
Many 4020's were sold. In Northern NYS, we had an ongoing debate of JD 4020 vs IH 806.

Your Deere meme reminds me of the newer Case IH kids with thinking the quad trac was built/designed by Jesus himself!
I think if you want cutting edge now, Agco Fendt seems to be leading in most areas.
Where I live now though Deere is my closest dealer (if I was still farming).

I couldn’t agree more with your last comment about Deeres being a PITA to work on. Already had to do 3 hydraulic pumps, one on our 400(2020 industrial) backhoe, one on our 2510 and one on one of our 4020s unfortunately. And trying to get to the back bolt on a 4020 24v starter requires nothing short of a miracle to get out much less putting it back in. And forget trying to work inside the dash column, I sincerely hope you never have to do anything with the little pto actuator shaft on an 8 speed powershift if your boss has any. You need a stick magnet, 2 screwdrivers and a wrench to get the nuts put on after the washers fell of for the 5th time. It’s never taken me longer to screw 2 nuts on to a threaded part. After all that our old Farmall C and Cub feel like a dream to work on. I’d love to have a 77/Super 77/700 Diesel to rake and tedd hay with for the fuel economy and to spice things up. My dad thinks I’m nuts but the gearing looks perfect for those applications and there’s nothing like a smooth straight 6 to me.

I aint too sure here but deere put side consoles on the 20 series tractors in 71? I can’t remember now or if that was just a “row crop” optioned tractor. The 4020 got the name because they were fuckin near bullet proof on a literal level. Im not a “deere guy” but i do like them tractors. ( in my opinion the 4440 was the best tractor they built). The levers seem fine to me on the soundgard but most of that stuff is personal preference. Also what made the “soundgard” tractors great wasnt the cab. The hydraulics were second to none the best, the motors were amazing, the transmissions were stout, and looked good. All just my opinion but thats me. I hate that stupid whiplash 8 speed powershift as well lol. The quad ranges were the best transmissions you could ask for.

Interesting talk vid👍I grew up IH n MF combines until CaseIH 2188. Our family have run Caterpillar, Oliver but have soft spot for AC especially neighbour run Gleaner. Don’t get me wrong I like JD GPS but most frustrating thing was when JD celebrate 100 years they NEVER mention Chamberlain tractors that were built in Australia which JD brought out. Chamberlain tractors were ok depending model, Perkins engine, later JD engine. Rare part non existent AC 9000 would be nice but you want Australian American style with Nuess German engine 86 series.

I'm with you on being a muscle tractor guy. The are sweet. My dad is a John Deere guy, my uncle is a IH guy, n they are dedicated. Myself I'm all over the board. I have a 9600 Ford, 4630 and 4020 Deere's I love all three. I've run all colors and once you use a tractor n get use to it then you can make judgement. I like white's but the shifting is goofy to me but I'd love a 2-180, and a IH 1468. I've been looking at Oliver 880s cuz I think the look nice but never ran one so idk how they are use. While I did say I love my 4020 it should be on 38" rubber and the powershift could be better.

The Harvester your probably thinking of is either the 1255 xl or 1455 xl. I run Internationals for the most part (I have a growing collection of 1206s, I think there's six plus a few parts tractors), I have a couple Olivet 1955s (for a project), I don't really care for Deere but a 435 would be fun.

I would love an international 1455xl !! I would love TW Ford. MB Trac any model I would love to have also. I'm still attached to certain Soundgard cab JD models. Would like to have a white 6125 model . Used to be a JD all the way type of guy but over the last 15 years I've become a Meh whatever kind of a guy. They all do the job , they all have ups and downs.

good video. keep it up. the sts rotorey i was told ,was stole from versatile. j.d. was buying versatile in the 70's or early 80's . they hald off with loads of paperwork and blue prints. then backed out of buying the company and sat on it for years what i don't like now is we have two big jd and two big (case ih new holland) that control western minnesota and eastern south dakota.. i plant with a g1000 vista and a 8 row ih 800 early riser planter. i have a m670 supper gas that i put together a few years ago and i have a m670 diesel that is waiting to go in the shop .it's got bad baring in the motor. also a a4t1600 that i lost oil pressure on . it's hurt i'm hopping to redo this winter.hopping to find a external oil pump setup for it i guess that was a big problem for the 585 motor. have fun this weekend. will be looking for your next video

Deere tried a rotary back in 1957 the XCC-1 “Experimental Centrifugal combine”. They didn’t like how it performed in damp and muddy conditions and shelved the program. New Holland got wind of it and started their own experiments and development. While their secret combine was sitting in a shed on a farm the IH engineers snuck into the shed and completely documented the design and rushed back to their offices to rush their axial flow into production. New Holland sued and won over corporate espionage and the judge ruled IH to wait till New Holland released their combine first.
Deere just waited like they always do and ran the walker machine as long as possible. The 9000 machines should have been a rotary machine in my opinion.
Or at least had a option for either system like they finally did in the 60 series.

My main two horses are an Oliver 1850 and Farmall 856 narrow front. Both great tractors, couldnt choose one over the other. After running Minnes, ACs, Fords, Deeres, Cases, Farmalls and Olivers, All from the 60s/70s, I cannot see what all the fuss about the 4020 is. About the only one I liked less was the Case 930.
