For health reasons, glad you finally got some rubber boots. Might want to carry some rubber gloves also. You see debris get caught up & need to be cleared by hand. And you might not see crazy stuff like syringe needles before it's too late, so you need to be careful. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK for your community!
Kudos for what you are doing, but I would echo the sentiments of other commentators:- 1. Get a bigger, stronger (metal) rake, the small plastic one you are using won't last 2. Rake any debris up onto higher land so it's not dragged back into the drain 3. Wide angle shots of the area showing before, during and after, we like to see how much difference you are actually making Have a look at Post 10, he's been doing it for a while and knows what he is doing. Please accept this as constructive criticism, what you are doing is grate (pardon the pun) but could be so much better and more enjoyable for your viewers. Keep up the good work!!
I concur 😃 I realize all drain systems aren't the same but if there is one on one side of the street please walk straight across the street and see if there is another. ( post 10 follower)
Point 2 is crucial... everytime I see those videos I think that debris should be thrown away, not simply put aside (it will cover rhe grate in a day or less). And why don't use boots and gloves...
Have a plan , when raking the leaves , pull them away from the drain to higher ground . Also , have a wide shot of the area more than close up so we could view the changes you caused .
And I'm yelling, "lift the debris up the curb, onto the grass". I did this job about once every few weeks for 23 years in the road outside my house. I miss doing it at my new place.
Ya! Wtf? And does this person live on that street? I know where my street drains are, I drive by them everyday, twice on Sunday!! 😁 Oh! STOP planting trees, especially MAPLE so close to a street drain!😒
You need to flip the debris up onto the curb, otherwise its right back in the road. You also need a lesson in civil engineering- how to locate drains. Where you see one, theres usually another right across the street. Get the leaves OFF the grate! Anywhere you see an indentation in the curb, thats probably where the drain grate is. You also need a bigger sturdier garden rake.
I love watching these videos...but at the same time am astounded that the people that live on these streets can't take the time to go out and clear the drains.
Well, that and it appears P10 is actually trying to get it done ASAP someitmes. Twice these guys are just staring at water as if they expect it to pass through the ground on its own.
I would suggest investing in a garden rake instead of that small leaf rake. Garden rakes have a wide flat row of hard tines to make clearing debris easier. It also can be used to grind the debris through the grate if need be. Your current rake looks like it is struggling with the slightest of blockage.
I love what you are doing. A wider shot would be good - so we can see what difference/benefit you've made. Also, when the water's gone, it would be great to see you clear the drain again so that the flood doesn't come back. Last thing: wear gloves. Do not touch the drain. You only need to be pricked by an infected needle to end up with a lifelong infection! Safety first!
This brings back fond memories when most of Detroit looked like this - civilized, instead of the mostly bombed out nightmare it's become. At least small pockets of sanity still exist...
When the air was bopping up and down it reminded me of river dance pity u didn't have the music to it going at that time it would have been so funny great job ur doing
Good job, enjoyed your work and looks like fun mucking around and getting those drains working. People really do appreciate what you are doing and it is entertaining to watch. Thanks guys. I subscribed.
No drains in front of driveways , a drain on one side of the street usually has a a drain directly across the street , use a small rake to clear debris , neighbors will thank you !!
Cant you buy a 2nd hand rake , cause the one your using , looks like , the 1st tough pile of leaves it comes up against , it going to shit itself . Im certain , there are yard sales around, where for $5 you can get a decent rake ,, yours , looks a bit , limp wristed ,,anyway , well done.
Pittiful that these residents take no pride in their neighborhood. They deserve what they get. Thank you for your efforts 🤮👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Its actualy quite satisfying seeing the clear water flow down between the leaves and the grate of the drain. Is there a drainage ditch knear by that the storm water flows out into :)
Just found your channel and subscribed. A little advice…stand on the curb facing the street as you rake up towards you. As you at first walked towards the corner, the drain would have been right there on your right. Good job, though! 👍🏻
This was a fun video to watch. You got two huge floods down. That is awesome. I'm glad the corner house people were nice enough to come and thank you. You've given them something to talk about all day. You really did good. Did you ever find the first clog that you couldn't find? Thanks for the video.
When it dries out take a can of orange paint and mark on curb where the drains are so it is easier to find. Don't need to make a big spot just enough you will know where it is when you need to find it.
I was raised in Detroit and remember houses like this. They were sturdy as rocks and so beautiful. Can anyone tell me the neighborhood in which this was filmed please?
I always get nervous when these drain cleaners reach in with their hands. I imagine a syringe in with the debris, which is super scary! Kudos to you for the work you do. I know I couldn't reach in there with my bare hands. 😉💜
Take a bucket with you to pit the leaves in. When they come out to thank you .Say your welcome can I put the leaves I raked out in your garbage please. I'm sure they will let you.Just to get them away from the drains.
I enjoy watching you & hate all the post10 comments, as long as you get the same results who cares how you get there. Keep being you & don't copy other people.
I don’t own a home anymore, but after seeing this video, I feel that the Homeowner Association should be responsible to keep these drains clear from debris or make the owner of the property that is in front of the drain responsible to keep the drain clean of debris during rainstorms 🤔🤔🤔
im sorry i uploaded that video at 720p...... i have the original thats 4k and im thinking about re-uplaoding it in HD
I don't understand why he waits before removing leaves from drains. Clear it immediately when you see it. Tom
🤔 perplexing

And mentally mark where the drain vents are so that you need not keep wandering from street to street to find them every time ....

They do not watch post 10 videos because they would know what to do

Hey y’all are doing Detroit a wonderful service. Well Done! Grew up it there and love seeing the houses!
A decent rake, gloves , and an hour watching POST 10 vids on here......And youll go far!
Don't forget the boots
yeah go post 10
Yeah it’s very frustrating to watch
They all do a good job, especially if they're taking their time doing it for free
I'm yelling at the screen " rake the leaves off the grate" and it took ya long enough lol
Came here for this comment and “rake WITH the grate direction!” But great video, guys. Enjoyed it
And I'm yelling, "lift the debris up the curb, onto the grass".

😩😭😁👍

Makes me really appreciate the knowledge and skill Post 10 has, but keep it up. You’ll get there. Hopefully you’re having fun doing this stuff.

Actually, that smaller rake is very useful for clearing drains. I've used one with great success.
that rake is a over size back scratcher oh oh
Omg, best comment ever!😂
You guys should watch post 10 and learn how to really clean the drain and learn exactly where There at
He went past the first one in the second street
Was coming here to make a similar comment
My guess is they watch post 10 and thats where the got the idea to try it lol
In the spirit of post10, he would be really proud of you guys 👍😉

Needs more instructions on finding the drains. Rake the rest of the leaves off!

This is in Indian Village, which has always been a wealthy neighborhood due to unequal distribution of resources.

The drains are usually right across from one another . You may want to pace them off and see if they are so many feet apart .

Hi mate l am watching your video right now and I love watching your video thay are great to watch all the time ❤️😀👍
You should poke all the leaves through the grate. It won't block the pipe and will drain water faster.
Beautiful whirlpool!!!
Cool video. Love so much water
How about a REAL rake instead of the kids version?
😂😛
The air bubbles were trippy. Thanks .

He can’t find the drain where the water is so he goes across the street and clears drains where there is NO water
Fabulous 👏Glad you got that done, every little helps. It would have been nice to see the water lowering in the street.

For goodness sake’s someone buy him a real rake instead of that kids dollar store one!
Seems like DOT or the city workers aren't doing there job.
Those drains need to have some type of screen on them to keep the leaves and debris out
There is a grate. Any cover over them will collect the leaves and clog it anyway.
is this a video about whirlpool or unclogging drain
the best flood insurance is DO IT YOURSELF clean the drains
Sometimes if it bubbles like that that means it's been clogged for a good while
Proper maintenance on those drain pipes are in order!
I don’t own a home anymore, but after seeing this video, I feel that the Homeowner Association should be responsible to keep these drains clear from debris or make the owner of the property that is in front of the drain responsible to keep the drain clean of debris during rainstorms 🤔🤔🤔
