Honestly man, in my opinion, you are on the same level as Post 10 with this stuff. Well done and keep doing good work! Right, I didn't realize this would get as much attention as it did. For everyone saying Post 10 is shit because he rags on other people you need to consider the fact that he is actually raging on people who do a shit job I.E. excavator workers who do more damage to the culverts than the actual blockage. As for "pulling down a clog and throwing it back in to clog further downstream" (and yes Craig Cooper this is a call out to you) you need to realize two things. 1. People grow up thinking the world is out to get them.. leads them to think they can't make a change. Areas like Detroit got swamped with crack too many problems swamp any system. Like leaves in a drain ;)
Often they are elderly residents, sometimes poor. Can't do it themselves & can't afford to hire someone to do the leaves for them. In my neighborhood the county comes around a few times in fall & sucks up the leaves that residents deposit at the curb. Backyard leaves, too.

Why are videos like this so satisfying? Like, I could be playing games or something, but I'm vibing out to draining streets. You and Post 10 are my go to guys for this. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, but at the heart of every flooded street is a clogged drain. Clear the drain, save the street. Life's the same way. Our "clogged drains" are things that make it hard to deal with stress. Clear those situations away, and the stress drains out of you. Thank you, for doing what you do. It didn't have to be you. You CHOSE to help out. ~Respect.~
I was wondering the same thing, asked chatGPT. I didn't fully agree initially, but I do now. 1. Sensory Stimulation: Videos featuring intense visuals, such as swirling water or powerful movements, can provide a visually stimulating experience. The combination of vibrant colors, dynamic motion, and the sense of power or force can be captivating to the viewer. 2. Problem-Solving or Completion: Watching a process unfold and witnessing a successful resolution can be satisfying. In the case of unclogging, there may be a sense of anticipation or tension as the clog is being addressed, and the release or removal of the blockage can provide a feeling of completion or accomplishment. 3. ASMR and Relaxation: The term Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) refers to the tingling sensation some people experience in response to specific sounds or visual triggers. Videos featuring swirling water or intense vibrations might evoke ASMR-like sensations, which can be relaxing or pleasurable for individuals who are sensitive to such stimuli. 4. Curiosity and Novelty: The unique combination of elements mentioned in the phrase "Major Unclogging With Huge Ground Vibrating Whirlpool" may pique curiosity and offer something novel. People are often drawn to unusual or extraordinary experiences, and the sheer scale or intensity of the phenomenon described can capture attention and provide a sense of awe or wonder.
This was a good video, thanks for making it! The video shake should be addressed. Have you considered using a head camera? Also, have you considered using your far camera for a time-lapse? That would be fun for your viewers to see how far the water has dropped! Keep up the good work, communities need a lot more people like you! 🙏👍
I always wonder who the home owners are that live on streets like that. They obviously dont give a shit about their own neighborhoods from the looks of things. Well thanks to the Detroit Drain Gang they obviously get to reap the benefits of their civil service to the community.
The homeowners on that street need to take a leaf blower and clear the street prior to rains. That would prevent the flooding. Plus, THEY should clean their flooding problem instead of expecting someone else to do it for them. Proud of you and disappointed for them especially if nobody offered to pay you for doing THEIR job.
I've seen a Cincinnati conservationalist he uses a long rake to clear out ditches that are feel like this he even goes into creeks and clears where bridges are jammed with tree limbs and leaves. The rake that you're using it's doing somewhat of a good job but if you get you a rake that is longer in length with less space between you'll do a lot more better than the break that you're using now. Thank you for what you're doing
Hi mate I have watched all of your videos every single day and I love watching your video thay are great to watch all the time thanks for doing the video for me too watch everyday
Great job...I've suggested to a few people to get a different rake for what you are doing in your area...a potato rake may not be the best...perhaps a straight pronged garden rake may help you more than a potato rake in your aspect being in the city aspect...again this is just a suggestion nickyandell took up that but its your choice as to what to use...just a suggestion. Best wishes and thanks for the videos! Wirh a wider garden rake you may cut your effort in half. Just going off other draining videos I've watched...Thanks for doing this in your community! Every area has difficult needs for the supplies needed...
Keep up the good work and hopefully others in your city /neighbourhood will give you some help. You might like to try a lawn rake, or they are also called a spring tined rake, they have a wide fan shaped head and the tines are flexible. Not sure if you have them in the US. Best Wishes from the UK.
Thank you for doing this for your community! I really like the pulled back shots to see the whole flood drain like at 7:07. Was it sticks that kept the leaves from going through by themselves?
They can, but in this instance it was just too many leaves & a strong whirlpool = clog that needs to be cleared almost constantly. A garden rake would work better because if you run it back & forth it will push the leaves through.
Sticks may start a problem but once a pile of leaves build up it works all by itself and gathers silt/mud to seal the hole. It's like a beaver dam in miniature - only the grate itself forms part of it with the bars acting as an anchor for twigs to get caught in. Just as beavers use rocks to anchor logs and twigs before adding more material like mud, twigs and pebbles on top. All in all though it's just apathy of the people living on these streets not clearing them. Just a few minutes of spade work per house would clear all that mess in less than an hour - voilà! no more flooding 😑 Even less than that if it was done every day or 2, that's days worth of build up at least - if not more because it looks like the leaves are rotting too.
Thanks for providing great content and doing what you do! So there's a drain on the far west side of Detroit that always gets clogged - it's by the Ford Road and Mercury Drive intersection, on the side street by the Walmart. Don't know if you've been over there, but might want to pop by sometime after a heavy rain.
I suppose that it is because someone is doing something to make life better that makes these videos so satisfying. It may not seem to be much but it is. If everyone tried to do their little bit life would be a lot better.
