I haven’t yet been able to find out if 1 is more reliable than the other to work properly for years without developing a major problem that pretty much makes the unit worthless. @@LoneTinaja Hi! Those two are very similar in terms of specs. The two major reasons I went with the 4i4 is because I have experience with Focusrite going years back, and I know them to be reliable over time. It's also cheaper than the M4, but still has the same features, except for the LEDs. However, I've tried the M4 before and didn't really find the LEDS to be particularly useful. It's more of a gimmick. The LEDS on the 4i4 work well and gives you all the info you need, and I haven't experienced them going out over time. I can't say anything about repairs because I wouldn't know, as I've never needed to have mine repaired. I did have some problems with a Focusrite SOLO that I tested a few years ago though. Turned out I had accidentally installed the wrong driver for it, so it was my own fault. @@FireWalkMusic - thank you so much for your reply. It is important for me to read that you didn’t find the M4 LEDs to be particularly useful, plus the 4i4 LEDs work well. So, I’m ruling out the M4. Thanks again.

The main difference is that the solo has fewer inputs and outputs compared to the 4i4, and no loopback function. The solo also has a shared circuit for the monitors and headphones, while the 4i4 has a dedicated headphones circuit and volume knob for the headphones. :)
FYI: Everyone told me I can't hook this up to a TV, even the people at Guitar center where I purchased mines. I have a 2022 Sony tv and I got lucky and it worked and now I'm able to hook my new studio speakers to my TV.
Honestly the 2i2 is enough. Also like the fact that the 2i2 allows you to switch the air setting by hardware rather than software. This is especially useful if you're a Linux user and using a third-party DAW.
Hi! Thanks for the presentation! Can we plug two mono hardware stuff in the line inputs behind, instead of one stereo synth? Like one drum machine plugged in 3 and another synth in 4 (both being mono then). I wanna be able to record 4 audio channels at the same time Thanks!
@@Edgarcoste Yes, I finally bought the 5i6 I believe (4 audio front and 6 line behind). The Focusrite software is great to manage what you plugged into the interface. If I were to crank up both the monitors and the audio interface knob near max, I would probably end up with permanent hearing loss, or I'd blow out the speakers :) I find it strange that you're not getting enough volume. What kind of monitors are you using?
Can it record all inputs individually or it'll combine it to a single track like in beginner USB mixer? My inputs would be 1 singer (1 🎤), 1 violin (1 🎤), 1 Indian percussion (2 mic - left & right side of the instrument).
Exactly I have the same audio interfaces (booth like you. :) My very big problem (but this is the only one) of the 4i4, that many times, and I don't know why, doing that, if I listening music on Winamp or UA-cam, or using FL Studio, if it finds any "ghost" frequency (I can't describe it better :D ) that it perceives to be harmful to the speaker or what, it will suddenly switch off for a few seconds and then switch back on by itself. Very annoying, especially if I'm in the flow. Do you have any solution for this?
There's no built-in circuitry for that. It's probably being caused by something else in your setyp. I do not know the delay of the interface. Sorry for the late response. Our brains automatically fix the delay of sound up to a certain point.
Question. I want an interface that will allow me to insert outboard gear into the signal from FL Studio. Is that what the hardware inputs are all about? I don't need a lot of physical ins and outs, but I do need enough channels to allow for looping through my favorite hardware.
Does Windows recognize 2 different lines out? Output 1/2 and Output 3/4? I want to plug speakers at 1/2 and subwoofer at 3/4 so I can EQ them separately in Equalizer APO. I don't care about software routing and DAW, I need Windows itself sees all 4 outputs to work properly in Equalizer APO. Thanks.
Regarding problems, I usually see people having various problems with most audio interfaces. It's usually due to some kind of conflict, using the wrong driver etc. In some cases the driver simply isn't any good, but this will usually get resolved by an update, and is usually something you risk if you buy a brand new product. If you buy something that has been on the marked for a while then at least you can rest assured that the driver is good (usually). As for the Apolli Twin X, I see some people praising it, and others talk about crackling sound. It could very well be the same thing I'm experiencing if the asio buffer is set too high. It might simply be a windows issue, because it does occur in the DAW, only in windows. Reducing it to default takes care of the problem.
The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 has only two XLR/TRS combination inputs on the front, which means you can connect two microphones simultaneously. If you need more microphone inputs, you might want to consider a larger audio interface with more input channels.
Hello, does anyone have an idea how to remove the noise on my 4i4 interface when recording instruments. I don't have it on the microphone. Thank you so much.
Make sure you are using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, and that you are using the provided asio driver (Focusrite usb). Set the buffer as low as you can. It's sending the main audio from the daw when I want to be able to just send specific things for reamping. For instance I'm trying to reamp bass but somehow my drums are being send to my amp. Just annoying
@@Fartinhalerr I see. there's not much in terms of physical controls. Even the air button from the solo has been removed. It's probably to keep the price down. All the routing and such has to be set up from the Focusrite control software.
I do have one question. Am I able to listen through my computer headphones if I do not have 1/4" headphones? Like bluetooth headphones. Your video is great and answered all of my questions except that one.
Bluetooth wouldn't be all that recommended if your using them to mix your work due to the latency. The headphone input is recommended and listen through the monitors/speakers
I feel really dumb. All I needed to do was set it to playback through the software I'm using (Audacity) and I can use whatever headphones I want through my computer. Slowly figuring this stuff out, emphasis on "slowly". lol Thank you for the lightbulb moment!
So close and yet so far. If only it had four pre-amps and two headphones. That would open up it's appeal to more organic music and not just the bedroom EDM people.

@@FireWalkMusic omg I figured out my problem, I never had the drivers in the first place!!!! this whole time I was recoding with 100 ms, this video helped me out so much, thank you!!!!!
@@negvey Awesome! Glad you finally got it sorted 😀👍
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Awesome video!
it is possible to have 4 guitars on 4i4 ?
Does this work on M1 Macs?
How do I record with the inputs 3 and 4? They won't show up in my DAW (audacity and Mixpad Multitrack). Only 1 + 2 show up.
Have you find the answer to this?
@@doubledown4957 yes, ty
And No direct monitoring knob
I got this thing a few months ago, I upgraded from the 2nd generation solo. I HATE THIS THING!!
Hi, what do you hate about it?
@@FireWalkMusic I hate that the control panel is so limited. I'm trying to reamp and I can't seem to control what is being sent to output 3.
Wait where's the Direct Monitor button
I was looking for that too, i don't see one.
Hey buy 1 for me too ..
😆
@@FireWalkMusic Kidding ... Already have one 😃😃😃 but Thank you for sharing valuable information
@@BookyourSinger you're welcome 😀
I do have one question. Am I able to listen through my computer headphones if I do not have 1/4" headphones? Like bluetooth headphones. Your video is great and answered all of my questions except that one.
Bluetooth wouldn't be all that recommended if your using them to mix your work due to the latency. The headphone input is recommended and listen through the monitors/speakers
In my current living situation I don't really have much of a choice so... I take that as a no.
Update: I got it to work.
@@thorny7138 what you end up doing?
I feel really dumb. All I needed to do was set it to playback through the software I'm using (Audacity) and I can use whatever headphones I want through my computer. Slowly figuring this stuff out, emphasis on "slowly". lol Thank you for the lightbulb moment!
Are you ready? Follow ✅
Man I sick of this shit keep disconnecting and connecting now I cant get any sounds through my monitors.
I’m having like a shhhhhhh sound like rain
So close and yet so far. If only it had four pre-amps and two headphones. That would open up it's appeal to more organic music and not just the bedroom EDM people.
Luckily they have a model in this range for that!
let get something stright her people get them like krk rockets becuase
their cheap not becuase their good
why do you use a robot voice for your voice overs? just talk yourself lol
