2:02 The USB spec has separate wires for data and for power... The only thing you need to worry about (in both scenarios: power adapter vs usb power) is how good your USB cable is (shielding basically).
Thanks for the illustrations and Line Inputs 3,4 Stereo from the Kbrd. and that the Mic.1 Input only affects the Speaker or Direct output of the monitors and does not effect the DAw Input levels, Thx again I will Start using my 4i4 soon.
Very informative and to the point! I just bought a Focusrite 8i6 and this video opened my eyes on what to expect, being new to computer-based recording. Thanks again and good job!!
Thanks. I've just bought a Focusrite Scarlet 4i4 as well as a DAW and MIDI keyboard, but haven't worked out how to use any of it yet as I'm 35yrs out of date and need to make some conceptual leaps. This video has helped a lot
Great coverage! Very detailed and easy to follow. I do however miss the old software interface that Saffire Pro 24 DSP had. Which gave complete control over everything. This seems a lot more simplified.
just trying to get a mic to play through the focusrite, all i hear is static unless i use the mic as input and speakers as output cant figure out how to route both with focus rite
Awesome video. We just brought the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro as we get back into music. My wife sings and we plan to record with up to 2 microphones. So I have 2 questions: 1) how would you use the model here with the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro Controller and should we use 2 microphones would we need to go for a different version? And 2) We are just getting back into it all, so what would be a good affordable microphone to get us up and running without breaking the bank? We chose the keyboard/controller thanks to your awesome videos, keep up the amazing work. God bless 🙂
I assume is you plug in a pair of monitor speakers on line out 1/2 and set up those in Focusrite, you'll hear your playing on the speakers while you record? I may not want to use the headphones. If you plug in the headphone jack, does the monitor out automatically shut off?
I've been using my Scarlett 2i4 for nearly ten years and I just found out there's software for it. I just plugged it into Windows.. starting with XP, updating Windows at least twice, W7 and W10pro, and I just use the dials. I guess there's more to know about it. I never knew. Now to find out how to get it.
hello, so helpful, complete novice here trying to set up a podcast, i have audacity and the 8i6. are you able to run through using two mics and two headphones in a step by step guide for a idiot :)
Thanks..hopefully you can guide me with running my IPAD out to the focusrite 2i4-- I tried using a cable with 2 pin mini out to 1/4" stereo from ipad to front jack on 2i4 and could not hear it. My goal is to mix a mic and sound efx from the ipad
Hi Douglas. Thanks for this. Quick ques.....Im taking my ns3 as you do into inputs 3 and 4 of focusrite. When I do this I only get half readings even when nord is full volume. Is this right? If I go into inputs 1 and 2, no probs as there is gain knob. Any help would be great. Thanks

very nice and useful. It is really clear . Thanks!! which audio interface should I use for recording 4 condenser mics + 1 Guitar/keyboards etc live with Ableton or other DWA. is the mixer needed to do recording. in case please suggest good digital mixer for recording.
I am planning on upping my audio on a Apache Labs ANAN 8000DLE ham radio, was told I need to add Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen USB Audio interface, ART MP STUDIO PREAMP, Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ3102HD Equalizer, a Graphical 31 stereo, My microphone is a Heil PR77D with a 3 pin XLR cable, Do you know how all these connect together to make it work? I am no expert, but I think USB cables send power through different cables, and data through other cables. I don't think the power going through in separate cables will change the signal, but I could be wrong.

Thank you for this, How can I get what I have connected to come out of my headphones? I have mic in one input and guitar in another, Nothing is coming out through headphones,
Bad with terminology here, but how do you stop hearing yourself through the headphones using a condenser mic, when you put headphones in to the Interface?
I'm looking at this one as a mid range, that's affordable. However, I want to plug my guitar into it. That's a must for me. You mentioned something about it not having gain? Idk, I'm a little confused, would you recommend this for guitar? (1/6 jack) I also want the other ports too, mic as well. It seems like a good all in one. Any advise?
Or maybe, I could just put a mic near the pickups. I like my 70s rock 😅 When I use hifi gear you get that ambience and sound stage, which I feel would be lost with a direct input. Would it?
I managed to set the software for the Scarlett 4i4. Please, I have a Scarlett 4i4....with Yamaha modx. Do you think i should use a TS câble? Because the volume of my keyboard is low when I just use a midi connexion with my computer. What should i do, please.
Well... I have to say that I am on iMac 5K 27 inch, late 2015 (10.14.6) with Pro-Tools Studio 2023.6.0. Software that came with Scarlett 6i6 10 years ago is called “Scarlett MixControl” and looks completely different than the one in your video. For the last 10 years I haven’t been able to set it up. Nothing makes sense to me in it.

Hey question , this is not compatible with a chromebook? i just purchased everything but it says its not working on my computer :( Hope someone can help me
The thing is, I can’t get to the focus right control because it just tells me to connect your interface to get started even though it’s already Connected
Does the piano still work for midi when using it in that devise or is it just making the piano a audio track separate from being able to use the piano to control the digital instruments or expand 2 on pro tools? Also if yes would you say it’s better to put the piano through the box or just use the USB connection to the computer?
I would probably take one of the headphone outputs from the 8i6 and connect that to the phone input. As long as you have a mic hooked to the 8i6 along with anything else you’re trying to record, you should hear your talking and playing into the phone as well as going to the computer too!

Phantom power charged juste when you use xlr cable.. Then connect it with other.. And nit all dynamics can support phantom and not all be damaged
Do you not have midi setup too on the nord? Great vid btw. Really good.
