Felicia, Whirlpool should pay you for your help. I just got a new Whirlpool and could not remove the dividers. There was nothing in the manual. So I called the 800 help number. After some research, the agent referred me to UA-cam, and I found your video. That did the trick. THANKS!
I know this video is 2 year old but THANK YOU SO MUCH! There is NO other helpful info out there on how to get those damn dividers out and I knew I was losing a lot of freezer space to them. So stupidly unnecessary, I have no idea why they put them in there and REALLY no idea why they make them impossible to get out. Btw, I have an Amana but they're pretty much the same and this works so, again, THANK YOU
Had to do this today. Didn't have the 4 front clips, only that back part. Used the flathead screwdriver to pry it just like you said. Came out successfully. Thanks for being the only instructional on this irritating issue.
This video was instrumental in helping me. I wanted to remove the (useless) left-to-right divider and there was no apparent way to do so. At :55 she explains that there are 4 clips on the left end. It was very tricky to get all four clips pressed-in simultaneously, but it was possible with two people and four flat-head screwdrivers. As others have noted, the design/engineering is terrible; not user-friendly and not explained in any product literature. I also have no idea why they would put a divider in the rack that cuts usable space by 25%. Thank you, Felecia!
Thanks Felicia. We just got a new Kitchenaid fridge last month and the fixed dividers were driving my wife nuts. After watching your video and removing the dividers, my wife is now very happy.
Looking at the back end of the divider, we knew it had to be something like this. Thanks for the video! The divider pops right out when you depress that latch at the back.
Thank you so much for posting your video. I was going crazy trying to figure out how to remove the divider and of course there was no information about that in the user manual.
Thank you! I could not figure out how to do it without breaking it! Which is what I usually do in situations like this...but my wife said check UA-cam first… She is so smart.
FYI, I was able to get these out without removing that drawer. In cleaning the freezer today, I started with the bottom drawer, which has a bar that clamps on the same way as the ice tray bar. I realized a screw driver would release it, and it still was not easy but gave me practice for the top one. So, the top was really not easy, but I emptied it, then went in with the screw driver from the back and underneath the latch. I HAD to remove that piece in order to get the main divider with tabs out. I then put my ice bar back because I didn’t want that try sliding around, but I will never put the other bars back. I will also never order another whirlpool if this isn’t updated in the next few years. It’s complete incompetence that these bars are not user friendly.
Yes, this video was very helpful, however I discovered the divider that goes from left to right doesn't fit into the other holes...without intervention. They are smaller.. My wife did not like it the way it was, so I actually had to carve the hole I wanted to move it to a tiny bit bigger to fit the divider in. Below the arrow points to the hole the divider comes installed it. As you can see it is a bit larger and has an extra lip as well for support.
This is insanely hard to do. The fixed divider is not only in a terrible place but unnecessary to boot. The plastic snaps are so hard to work that breaking them seems inevitable. You have to push all four clips at the same time and at the same time pull. I think I need 2 more men to help me operate all those screwdrivers to pry the little snaps. So I am going to try to construct a tool. Oh to heck with making a tool. I'm just going to break it out and throw it away. Where's my Dremel tool?
I just did this on my new WP French Door. Best thing to remove the back latch/clip is a large round piece of steel and roll it under the lip to compress it. Gently pull the clip and it pops off
Absolutely ridiculous to design something to be this difficult for a simple function. Always keep the old parts from your old fridge such as dividers and a few shelf containers. When I got my new fridge I got so frustrated with the bottom basket divider I ordered the old divider off eBay and broke the new one off which was made to withstand a thousand hydrogen explosions and not move. The divider from eBay ( exactly like the one from my old fridge which I wish I had kept) fits perfectly and moves freely. Absurd design on the new fridge and impractical. Dumb! If a design engineer wants to to design things so unmovable put that desire to good use on motors or to design buildings to withstand an earthquake in Haiti of the 9.9 magnitude!
Hi Margaret, here is a link to the video to remove the drawer. If you hit show more in my description you'll see the link. ua-cam.com/video/6UB7jPvwUrw/v-deo.html
Why companies continue to over engineer and over complicate simple things like this is mind boggling. I believe engineers often confuse efficiency with complexity because it makes them feel smarter than their colleagues, it goes on all the time in my line of work which I won't name... eh hem space rockets that plan to go to Mars soon

I mean glad you got help. But you pay good money to Whirlpool or their distributors and they can't tell you how it works and refer you to youtube?
thank you for taking care of The negligence of the manufacturer this is a real crop system

You had me at Butter knife. Thank you!
wow thank you!!! I got rid of that divider because of your video

Exactly the information we were looking for but couldn’t find it in the manual, thanks!
This is exactly the information I was looking for. Thanks, Felicia.

very helpful I was pilling my hair out and you had it spot on
Thanks for the video - it helped me to remove the divider. My wife is happy!
So grateful for this video. Thank you
Wasn't a very good video or description as to how exactly the dividers were done but it helped a bit to get me started on the right track.
Found your video today and it's great! Thank you. 11/22/20
Thank you! Worked! :)

The fact that it requires for flathead screwdrivers to remove the divider is insane
THANK YOU!!!

Yeah, but how do you get the drawer out in the first place?

At first I thought they were adjustable but it doesn't seem that way. I took mine out the other night and it will probably stay out.
