🌞🌻ABOUT THE CHANNEL🌻🌞
Bored of the usual vanilla, ‘Pollyanna-esque’ allotment/gardening vlog formats that saturate UA-cam, we decided to start our own, unique channel in 2023. Follow the adventures of our family as we navigate life on two allotment plots based in Devon in the UK. The Allotment Family Diary offers a light-hearted, realistic and informative look at the daily running of two large allotment plots. Chocked with dry-wit and lovingly edited, we film hours of footage each month to bring you weekly episodes that document life at our allotment plots, and sometimes outside of them.
🌷🌻ABOUT THE ALLOTMENT FAMILY🌻🌷
Tilly and Nick have maintained their plot for almost ten years now, and Tom (their son), Han (Tom's wife), and Flo (Tom and Han's daughter) acquired theirs in May 2023, with a plot extension in Feb 2024. Look forward to seeing Alfie (an elderly lurcher) and Tor (a young Romanian rescue dog) joining us in our diaries, as well as our 6 chickens (new additions to the Allotment Family), and various stray cats and other wildlife that call the allotment their home.

Thankyou, looking forward to our first eggs!
love seeing silvy and I love the chicken names ❤😊
Thankyou. The chickens are getting really settled in, but no eggs yet, lol! 😀
I knew it! Plus, Karen is so cute. If I do say so myself! They all are! Good job building such a tight run for them. We lost 25 chickens in one night to a fox. They are sneaky.
Tysm. Very sorry to hear about your chickens. Yes, foxes are cunning!
I enjoyed this,I want chickens on my allotment
Thankyou. We spent weeks making it ‘Foxproof’ as the chicken keepers on our site were very helpful telling us what we should do. The hens are settling well and Flo has got three of them eating from her hand but no eggs yet. Tilly x
Loved the names of the chickens😂 great video again❤️🇦🇺
Tysm for watching!
Yay! Hens! Love the names you gave them LOL! Nice breed assortment as well! Blessings on your "new additions" and your garden season everyone! 🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿
Ty! They have settled in nicely 🐔🙂
Found you on my youtube homepage, came to look and connected to see more. Lovely cat on top there and the others tooNice chickens you have, i have some too.
Welcome aboard! X
Exciting times and lovely chickens! 🐓 I will be getting some soon and this has been inspiring 😊🌱
Tysm! Such wonderful creatures they are, each with their own unique personality 😊
May I suggest an automatic solar operated chicken door. Hang or set feeders and water up higher. Helps them stay cleaner. Food should be under the tarp area to keep it dry. Also, as good a builder you are make a 2-3 foot tall frame to set the chicken house up on. Gives them more ground and makes it Much easier to gather the eggs! I know this is a lot of hints. I have over 100 chickens at the moment. I can't eat store bought eggs here in the States they upset me. So I raise my own and sell some. I'm thrilled for you guys that you have your own birds! Buff Orphington chickens are usually the friendliest breed. White Leghorn chickens are very skinny egg laying machines. Loved the video BTW!
Thankyou so much. We will certainly follow your tips.
I am looking into a motorised door to use in the mornings.
We appreciate the time you have taken to comment.

Hi just subbed I’ve been researching for a few years before I get my girls I went with metal cable ties galvanized steel mesh chicken wire and a shed still not finished we have badgers that can bite through the chicken wire happy gardening Richard x
Fantastic! Thanks for watching. There are no badgers that frequent our allotment, however we do have plenty of foxes. Hope your build goes well, and best of luck with your chickens 🙂
yep mr fox will find away in there crafty creatures.lost countless birds to them especially in the winter when foods a bit short onn the ground.as for egg production just feed them layers pellets.dont forget to register your flock with defra wether its one bird or a hundred.sorry cant see the point of naming hens but each to his own.good luck.
Thanks for the advice. We appreciate it! 😊
