    🌞🌻ABOUT THE CHANNEL🌻🌞
    Bored of the usual vanilla, ‘Pollyanna-esque’ allotment/gardening vlog formats that saturate UA-cam, we decided to start our own, unique channel in 2023. Follow the adventures of our family as we navigate life on two allotment plots based in Devon in the UK. The Allotment Family Diary offers a light-hearted, realistic and informative look at the daily running of two large allotment plots. Chocked with dry-wit and lovingly edited, we film hours of footage each month to bring you weekly episodes that document life at our allotment plots, and sometimes outside of them.
    🌷🌻ABOUT THE ALLOTMENT FAMILY🌻🌷
    Tilly and Nick have maintained their plot for almost ten years now, and Tom (their son), Han (Tom's wife), and Flo (Tom and Han's daughter) acquired theirs in May 2023, with a plot extension in Feb 2024. Look forward to seeing Alfie (an elderly lurcher) and Tor (a young Romanian rescue dog) joining us in our diaries, as well as our 6 chickens (new additions to the Allotment Family), and various stray cats and other wildlife that call the allotment their home.

    Allotment is looking fab! I find lots of clay pipe ends on my plot too. Such a nice tour and a lovely couple you are. Everything is growing nicely and you should be very proud of how much you’ve done in just over a year.

    I really enjoyed the updates!! It helped me to see the relationship of the beds to each other. Your place has come so far! We're battling terrible daytime heat and not much rain. Fortunately the dew has been heavy. I watered some last night and then again this morning very early. I got my first garden items today! 3 young okra pods. Hopefully more will be ready Monday morning so I can fry them up for breakfast.

    🤭🤭 or we have a hole 🕳️. A large bug hotel would be cool and your wild garden already has a tiger 🐯. Carrots look fab I harvested some Parisienne those little round ones yesterday. My strawberries aren’t doing great either but I have some new plants too. A fun and happy tour to tag along. Have a gardening funday Sunday, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

      Thanks Ali. We have both collected stuff to make big hotels from the ‘Bug Build’ on the community plot.
      Little round carrots sound cool!
      Hope your Summer is looking good. Tilly😢

    You could sow foxgloves and wallflowers and sweet William for next spring Hannah or still time to throw a packet of ten week stock or cosmos 🙂 Super plot tour 🎉

    Great stuff and very calming manner about you two 🙏 You have such a big plot and all is looking healthy. Can I ask what you did to make your tomatoes and chilli grow so well? 🍅🌶️ Also your shed looks like a nice place to hang out!

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  Місяць тому +1

      Generally we keep a steady watering routine (every two or three days - depending on heat) and feed tomatoes with Epsom salts and Tomorite once or twice a week. We feed our peppers with Chilli Focus twice a week now they are bigger. The shed is an excellent base of operations for us! TYSM for watching :)

    I found the culprits to be millipedes which are mainly found in soils which are rich in organic matter, when in large quantities, they may bite and damage underground plant organs: roots, stems and stolons. ☺

    • @AllotmentFamilyDiary
      @AllotmentFamilyDiary  Місяць тому +2

      It’s really fascinating how different pests can wipe out or damage crops. As much as they are a nuisance, it’s really interesting learning about them and how we can prevent crop damage in the future. We’ll bear the millipedes in mind ☺️

    I’m on the waiting list for a plot, and really like how you have yours. I have three dogs and am going to make an area where they can go. Might be awhile yet. 💐

    I have just sowed some calabrese for harvesting later in the year. They only took approximately 4 days to germinate.
