In my search to bring Japanese food and culture to the world, I may have offended some people by including whale in my video. I apologize to those whom I have offended. Out of respect, I will not feature whale in my future videos. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the video.
Paolo fromTOKYO Whale is important & eaten in other cultures as well. Native Americans in Alaska eat whale & seal. Don't apologise. I just recently subscribed, been bing watching your videos - dig the editing, pace, map drawing & your honest energy, unlike some UA-camrs who overreact by tilting their heads when taking a bite of food. Hope you get more subscribers & sucess. Also, your girlfriend is adorable.
No need to apologies - not sure 'offended' is the right word. Its just that its illegal, and the vast majority of people in the world (including Japan) would prefer it didn't happen. Its not even a viable industry as it costs the Japanese governments millions of dollars every year.
I don't think it's a matter of respect. I don't feel offended, I know that a lot of people eat whale, I knew it before your video. And I know that Japan Government is ignoring the international laws about it, maybe for lazyness, maybe for protecting a weird and minoritarian "food nationalism". The problem is that if you buy whale, eat whale and make a video about it you are actively promoting the thing. And you still are, now! If your video remains online, you are taking a position. Your apologizing comment cannot compare with the video itself, they have different weighs, I don't know if I'm clear. You should put it offline, edit it, in order not to promote the (illegal) consumption of whale meat. If you really want to change your position about the thing...
Paola, We filmed at the fish market this morning and I guess you’ve heard they’ve put up your photo where they sell the sea urchin bun :) And you’re right, it’s absolutely delicious!
im not a huge commenter but what kinda blows me away from your videos is how genuinely happy you seem to be eating that food--hahah you're just so expressive and seem super genuine which is rare to see! also all the food looked (w the exception of whale, but you already addressed that in your pinned comment i see) so good!!
My buddy and me went to tsukiji back in 2015, took the advise of a hotel assistant and queued up at a corner-shop sushi restaurant. Hands down the best sushi i ever had, straight from the auction, cut up and served. Can't beat fresh fish that was still swimming in the sea less then 12 hours before eating it. Japan is amazing.
Just wanted to say thanks for this awesome video. Me and my girl enjoyed all of the food you recommended from the whale meat to the uni bun, which is our favorite. They had you’re picture posted right in front of the place lol. Thanks again!
Paolo, you're the best japan vlogger ever. As someone who came to Japan twice a year, all your videos and guides always bring something new to me. And yeah, I followed most of your guides and they are the best experiences!
I've got to say it, your videos make me smile everytime. It's just a joy to see you guys being so enthusiastic and seemingly genuine in front of the camera. It's a wholesome experience to watch these videos, it really is! I love it!
I just tried yesterday. It’s really not delicious. Smell like something you can find it in the toilet. Hahaha....and they are also hanging paolo photo there.
I've eaten at Kujira no Tomisui and it was one of the most memorable places I ate at not just in Tsukiji but in all of Japan. Cool to see that you've been there too!
I watch a lot of these UA-cam in Japan food videos and nice to see foods I've never seen before. Was surprised to see the whale but it's part of their culture and at the end of the day, that is what you were doing showcasing Japanese food and culture.
Aidan Lam but he posted a comment with his apologies for showcasing whale food, and wrote that he wont do it anymore. I believe he is not against it since whe can see he likes to eat it, but in the end it is his opinion, he said he will respect the viewers point of view ant will not show it anymore so its ok. Stop being a dick.
What I like the most in your videos is your joyness doing that, this is so contagious that I normaly hit the like button before the first minute :) Also you always bring quite interesting spots, foods and activities to share with us, thank you for that!
@ 13:13 I love the fact that you're eating oysters and behind you on the right side of the frame, there's a sign NO Food & Drinks (ROTFL). You're an adorable duo, thanks for sharing all this precious content.
I'll be back in Japan at the end of this month, & I'm trying to experience the auction as well as the foods you've featured on this video. Thanks for making this, it was super enjoyable to watch!
Hey Paolo- Another great video brother..! And I can’t imagine anyone being honestly offended if they knew how genuine and kind you are. Keep the vids coming...maybe I’ll see you and Maiko by the green train 😎
Love your videos on Shinjuku. You made our first trip more enjoyable! We found most of your top 10 things to eat, but we really wanted to eat the uni bun and could not find it! Can you give us some direction to find it? Keep on making video’s.
Hi Paolo... been watching all your Japan videos... it had been interesting & informative. What is the best time to visit Tsukiji Market? Will be in Tokyo next week and will definitely try out the ten foods that you had recommended in your video.
Love this guide! My lil sis & i watched this & a few more of your videos before we made a trip to Tokyo this summer. We pretty much used your video as a guide for the food stuff! When we had a hard time looking for the food stalls, we ended up finding them by recognizing the vendors themselves thanks to your video! LOL!
You guys make the best travel videos. Love the editing and contents. So entertaining and fun to watch. Plus it's so educational and informative. Keep it up. You just got another subscriber
First time we tried Otoro don (no. 6), it was that good, the second time we visited Japan, we purposely flew the earliest flight to arrive in Tokyo and hired a car so that we can visit Tsukiji first thing in the morning, just to have that warm toro don again.
You make the best videos Paolo! We're visiting Japan next month and your videos are helping us plan our trip! I love this video about Tsujiki and want to try everything! What time are these places open? Thanks and keep up the great work!
All your videos are full of energy... We'll be visiting tokyo osaka kyoto last week of June.. and im so excited for tsukiji food stalls. Are they open on a Sunday?
Dude your videos are awesome! I just found your channel recently and I’ve been obsessed watching every video. We love your reactions! Also, I really thought it would be a good idea for you to visit Puerto Rico one time and try our food. We have a vast variety of food ( most is fried so I’m pretty sure you will like it) . Our little island is known because of it, and I admit, our food is awesome! I wish you would taste it! Keep up the good work! Itadakimasu!
Hello Paolo! I'm going to Tokyo for 8 days in November and I'm excited to eat the giant oysters at Tsukiji market. Maybe I'll see you there with Maiko!
Thanks for this video. We only had a couple hours a couple weeks ago because of Typhoon Hagibis so didn't get to try everything. I thought the Uni bun was ok, but I'm not a huge Uni fan to begin with. My favorite didn't make your list, but the Wagyu beef was really good. A little pricey, but it just melts in your mouth.
I am watching a lot of your vids as your maps and enthusiasm really help. With this place relocating slightly are you going to do a newer version of this one?
I really like your videos, good work! I am going to Tokyo this October, and I am thinking about visiting the fishmarket and the early morning auctions they have there. Would you consider making a video/guide from the fishmarket some time?
Just back from Tsukiji market, tried the oyster of Saito Suisan, absooooolutely incredible, the most crispy, delicious oyster ever I have tasted!!! Saito Suisan Slays!
Paolo, we will be visiting in May 2020, what is: 1) the best day of the week, and 2) best time of-the-day to visit the Tsukiji Market and be able to try the top 10 shops on your video? Love your videos, thanks !
Omg paooo you making me hungry, i cant wait to visit japan.. im going there soon.. cant wait to try all the food recomendation from you.. BIG THANKS TO YOU!
Ei Paolo! Just recently discover your channel and now having a marathon on watching your videos! The quality and details are way beyond!!. Planning to visit Tokyo in July and here I am taking down notes from your vids. Just wondering since you live in Japan for so long and your gf seems to be a local - how come when you are trying these food - feels like you "just tried it?" - like a first timer; Are these food your all time fav and you just wanted to show to your viewers how much you like it and how good it is? Feels like you just had these food. Wish we could experience and will be able to try (not all because of our limited time there) - most of what your recommend. ^^
Thank you! And thanks for listing all the spots with locations! I just copied and pasted the list and sent to myself for easy access (except for the whale...). :)
I subscribe right away! This is what i hope to find as my guide before i went to Japan last year. Nothing much to eat that time, hope to visit and stay one day. Love ur vids❤️

don't bow down, geeze. if they're offended, they can take a walk. i want to see more whale!
Native Americans don't do it illegally and don't over-hunt endangered species.

I went to the market today and had the sea urchin bun and it was amazing! Plus they have a picture of you on the stall! 😁
Yes, me too, I saw it on the steam box last week : )

Actually, me too. I couldn’t finish it. I had to throw away. The grilled scallop with uni on top place has a better uni there.
Are you people really argueing about taste🤦
