This was truly the best era for funny cars. Real mustang, camaro ,barracuda bodies ,not the one design bodies in NHRA today . These cars had real character .!
Hello yes sir agreed thank you so much for your comment. I’ll pass that on to NHRA lol Please stay tuned for thunder Valley action coming up next month. Will be there for three days filming and uploading videos. I believe they’re gonna have the nostalgia drag cars. Also thanks for being my UA-cam channel. Please subscribe happy holiday.🇺🇸🇺🇸
The bodies today don't even remotely resemble a production car. They look like a cross between a submarine and a fighter jet, and they are all identically shaped.
Hello Kenny, yes sir same here. It’s what shaped the mold me into wanting to see those cars back in the day. Fortunately, me and my dad went to the Gatornationals starting in 73 and we never missed a year till 2000 thanks for your comments please subscribe and happy holiday 🇺🇸🇺🇸.
I built gene snowe the snowman .look a prudommes cuda you could put that on road without a top fuel motor.body not cut to shit..what do present day F.C.resemble...to me it looks like siding for a house

I remember when O.C.I.R. would have nothing but funny cars for a show. They would line them up just at the start of this video. The 60's/70's was a awesome time for drag racing in Southern California. I'm glad that I grew up there to see it first hand.
I lived close to OCIR back in those days too. I lived in Laguna Hills back behind the cow fields behind Lion Country Safari. I would ride my dirt bike across those cow fields. Then I would come up behind Lion Country Safari, and then drive up Irvine Center Drive a little ways. I would then go over that bridge that crossed over the I-15 freeway that led up to the back entrance of the El Toro Marine base, which is where the OCIR front gate was.
Hello yeah I wish I would’ve grown up in California and to be there in the 60s and 70s must’ve been amazing time. Everybody was so much further ahead on technology on the left coast and we were on the right coast but got to see it all at Gatornationals Sounds like great memories so I’m putting all this out because it’s positive good stuff makes people happy in today’s world we need the memories of the 70s when the world was such a better place to live I’m still stuck in the 70s. Thank you so much for your comments please subscribe and happy holiday.🇺🇸🇺🇸
OMG!! This brought back so many great memories!! The Coca Cola cavalcade was one of my fondest memories!! The cars weren't that fast by today's standards, but what a show those guys put on!!! Wow!! Thanks!!
Hello Roy Super cool I didn’t really remember that I believe they did that gatornationals in the early 70s. I’m not sure when you’re seeing these cars I wasn’t looking on how they were lined up I will have to look into that. You’re very welcome thanks for being on my UA-cam channel please subscribe.✌️😎
Thank you ! My Dad & Brothers ran the Big Cat F/C and later bought Mr. Pickett.. I was so fortunate to be raised in that Era & be prt of all this. I'm 62 now. And without doubt these days were Golden.

Those were the days. I remember in Washington state at Seattle International raceway going to watch 64 funny cars every year Those guys would close the track down around 10- 11 o'clock at night and they would cut the lock on the gate and they would get into the tower and turn the lights back on and run all night long it was amazing
Hello Mike wow that’s a great story man. Nothing like drag races all night. Sounds like some great memories thanks so much for being on my UA-cam channel please subscribe thank you 👍✌️
Great pictures from a great era. I always preferred Super Stock or Pro Stock back in the day but the funny cars and what we called rail jobs back in the 60s and 70s hold a dear spot in my drag racing heart.
Hello Keith, yes sir I always love pro stocks as well, but funny cars I thought were the coolest I think was the coolest of pro stock is you could go buy one on the off the showroom floor that was similar and we resonated with that at least I did thanks so much for being on my UA-cam channel please subscribe ✌️👍
The purest Funny Cars of all time! Always I enjoy videos like this. Anyway. I'm not sure but I read that the Golden Commandos team also competed in the funny cars class in 1967. Is it true and what car was it? Many thanks
Hey man, yes sir the best of the best yes, the golden commando team that was a 1965 satellite AFX car I believe they ran it in the 65 and 66 season. I’m not sure on 67. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks for your continued support. Have a great holiday weekend. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 Anytime, sir!👍 Yes, I agree. They started with the '63 Plymouths. Then, of course, the most famous AWB cars in 1965. In the same year introduced F Stock Plymouth Barracuda - Goldfish. Apparently in 1967 they introduced their first full funny car know as the "Dune Buggy with the Flip Top. In my opinion it wasn't a plymouth.
That opening photo reminded me of the Coca-Cola cavalcade funny cars that rolled into Edmonton for their Fox Hunt program on a Wednesday night. 32 of them fired up all at once! They drove off the track and as soon as the track was clear the racing began. Long smoky burnouts, lots of dry hops, it was a show.
Hello, yes I love that picture. It shows the sign of the time how many fun cars were it’s a great way to showcase Heading to thunder Valley nationals next month stay tuned. More 70s funny cars and slingshot. Thank you for being on my UA-cam channel. Please subscribe thank you and happy holiday.🇺🇸🇺🇸

I’m gonna have to look into that jungle. Pam‘s husband was telling me about it. He runs a car in it. I’m wanting to get to look at a bunch of these funny cars when I go out to California I’m gonna try to get with Prudhome he’s got collection of his cars and some others and I want to go through the NHRA museum out there in California as well.
