As a teenager in the 70's in the uk🇬🇧 When Paula Murphy came over from the states in the STP flopper, I was amazed how such a nice lady was able to drive it and pull such a big sponsor. I think one of her cars was purchased by the hound dog team and instantly became a pod favourite.

I remember the 80s going to Bristol. Bunny Burkett was still on the scene. I remember everybody knew her name. And she was making rounds, but mid 80s. You had Kenny Bernstein and the Budeiser King was the man at the time. Nobody even heard of John Force at the time. I think i remember seeing him i a Pepsi sponsored vette? Kenny amd Armstrong were the kings though. I remember hearing Jim Head's name tossed around. He was a class act. But back then Kenny was King. I hope the Bernstein legacy makes its way back to drag racing. Match raving fuel funnycars never came to our "area" . And im glad they didnt. Because our tracks were too small and too dangerous. But if they did. My old home would still be open which it isnt. So a double edged sword.
Hello yes sir I didn’t notice that on some of those cars. I was a great time in drag racing the best as far as I’m concerned. there was nothing like the 70s. It was the best decade ever 👍☮️
The best-looking funny cars around. Today cars all look the same no trick paint jobs or space tape gold leaf lettering. The golden days of drag racing.
Seen several of those exact cars myself standing trackside back in the 60's & 70's at KCIR. My brother dropped his Coke-Cola and stuck his fingers in his ears... Dad said: Damn, I gave a dollar for that Coke. Little Read Wagon & the Paddy Wagon would run the full quarter side by side @ 120/130 MPH... In late 2011 high socitity who built or bought homes around raceway for years had KCIR demolished under the premace of wanting the land for a park. No park for 10 years, now a small playground & walking trails on 93 acres of overgrown weeds. KCIR taken using "Ethical Violations" and legal loopholes with a reported 1.59 Million Dollars in City Parks Funding to close the deal. I could hear the Raceway from my bedroom window as a kid, T&T Wednesdays and races on the weekends.
Hello wow it sounds like some really good memories growing up when you were a kid and you saw these cars run it was mind blowing experience for me to say the least. I’ll never forget 1970 at Tampa dragway Arnie was a friend of my father. I was standing beside the car didn’t realize what nitro methane was. I got my first taste when I was 10 years old. My dad didn’t tell me did it on purpose and burn my eyes. I got up my nose. It was. I’ll never forget as a kid and hooked me on drag racing of course That must’ve been a really cool experience to have a house that close you could probably smell the nitro through your open window lol I’m enjoying all these great stories. Thank you so much for yours. Appreciate you being on my channel. Happy Easter to you 👌✌️
Hello Michael, yeah they should bring back the classic body style so I think that would be really cool and have a class just for them thanks for your comments👍✌️
Hello Kenny, thank you will do. I just download a new movie program I’m working on that meantime, you gotta look at it on your big screen and just use your remote to stop it. It’s the best way to view on the TV. 👌👍
And to rub it in to you newer drag racing fans, Imagine being in So.Cal. in the sixties and being able to take your pick of at least THREE drag strips every weekend. We didn't realize how good we had it. Now, nothing...
Hello Michael, yeah you guys on the West Coast we’re always ahead of us one step ahead and technology and horsepower why is that more money? I will love to Ben California in the days you were there if you look at my interview with Don, he talks about racing against the California guys and how tough they were back in the 60s have a 50 minute talk about thanks so much for reliving those good times, I love bringing these videos out because it just brings back smiles for us older guys PS old guys Rule happy Easter 👍✌️

Hello Paul, I got what you saying but Center lines look good on certain cars not all you put Craig on any car. It’s gonna look good. I also have keystones on my 69 Hemi Road runner convertible back in high school. but I had two other sets of wheels I would change them out. People always had to do a double take to see what wheels I have on the car, but I’m with you on slots slotted were cool. Also polished my dad had had challenger convertible back in the day and it was sharp, looking at the back they were all pretty cool thanks for your comments. Happy Easter.👍✌️

Love the old school cars when they were named and not completely covered with sponsors, i know, i know
Hello yes sir I didn’t notice that on some of those cars. I was a great time in drag racing the best as far as I’m concerned. there was nothing like the 70s. It was the best decade ever 👍☮️
Should have at least one gratuitous photo of Jungle Pam.
👌👍
U.S. 30 Gary Indiana, late 60s…❤️❤️
👍👍✌️
The best-looking funny cars around. Today cars all look the same no trick paint jobs or space tape gold leaf lettering. The golden days of drag racing.
Couldn't agree more! 👌
The time that dragcars had names
Hello Stan you brought up a good point I forgotten about that NHRA should bring that back great point thank you so much for your comments 👍✌️
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 you are welcome
It was. I’ll never forget as a kid and hooked me on drag racing of course
That must’ve been a really cool experience to have a house that close you could probably smell the nitro through your open window lol I’m enjoying all these great stories. Thank you so much for yours. Appreciate you being on my channel. Happy Easter to you 👌✌️
Coolest cars ever. The generic egg shaped stuff today can’t compare.
Hello Dave agreed they look like real cars. Thanks so much for your comments.👌✌️
Every track except Fremont.😮
Hello James, I will have to look for some from Fremont dragstrip I’ll see what I can do. Thank you so much for your comments.👍✌️
Chi town hustler had to change their name .... Discrimination ! 😮
Pure Classic and the Way Furry Cars Should Look Like ❤
Hello Michael, yeah they should bring back the classic body style so I think that would be really cool and have a class just for them thanks for your comments👍✌️
Cars from my childhood in the '70s! Try to slow it down a little and spend 5 seconds on each car, please.
Hello Kenny, thank you will do. I just download a new movie program I’m working on that meantime, you gotta look at it on your big screen and just use your remote to stop it. It’s the best way to view on the TV. 👌👍
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 That's what I've been doing.
👍✌️
Cars are cool but Bikes rule......
NITRO BUMS RACING RKFD ILLINOIS ☠
Hello big iron hey I’m sorry I should’ve got some pro stock motorcycles as well. Next track meet. I’ll make sure to get some cycles on for you. Thanks so much for being on my UA-cam channel. Appreciate you happy Easter 🐣✌️
Todays cars look like they are made of plywood.
Hello agreed there no style they need to bring back the old bodies would be cool👍😎
Slow down between pictures
Hello Daniel, gotcha I’m working on that man. Thanks so much. Happy Easter.👍✌️
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 Good man. I didn't mean to be critical. Happy Easter to you.
Hey Daniel, no problem brother gotta get that corrected. Thanks so much.✌️
Hey Daniel, I know you gotta have a smart TV. Watch it on there and use your remote to stop it whenever you want to view.😎
Centerlines really uglied up drag racing. Spokes & slots were much cooler.
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 Currently driving a 65 Nova wagon. Got tired of fiddling with mags and my Cragar Screamers won't fit under the quarters. Running 14 inch rallys and have 16 sets of knock-off/spinner hubcaps that I swap from time to time. 10 minutes and a rubber mallet and I can change the whole look of the car. She's wearing 62-63 wires with knock offs right now. Pie pan wheels suck.
When funny cars looked like real cars, not like the generic crap today
Hello agreed they were correct to a stock design it was the Era That I enjoy the most thanks for your comments👍✌️
