Best g shock mudmaster 1000 1a3 ever made I have this watch out of all my watches just can't ever take it off always gets comments aswell. Amazing watch
Thank you for the video, great content keep it coming. I ordered my GWG1000 only after watching your videos. Then I watched your other videos on the GA2100, since watching those videos I now have 3 GA2100 in my collection 😂😂
@@stormrider1119 So, I've got the all black, black with white markers and then just purchased the grey version too. Thanks for your videos there excellent quality, you have a very unique way of presenting and really enjoy them, you present them as an actual user and not a reviewer if that makes sense. I like that you actually wear your watches and your not afraid of getting them dirty/scratched, just like me.
Thanks for observing exactly what I try to deliver, that being genuine and authentic perspectives on the great G-Shock watches by someone who wears them each and every day. To me that's the most truly valuable type of review. Great choice in the GA-2100s, glad you got the grey as I think it is absolutely beautiful and incredibly rare. Probably a collectors piece along with the triple black. I wonder what is next for you lol
Also you can put it inside of a transparent glass of water direct to the sun to recharge it, that will protect way more your watches' displays and will charge them not as fast as natural conditions but it'll do the job, water protects the watch from overheating
Thanks for testing this so I don't have to 👍As a tradesman I love my GWG1000-1A3, I wear it grinding, working with dust and concrete, working on the car, it bashes against walls and metal and is unphased, the saphire protection was the selling point for me, flawless in any environment! The resin has some scuffs but hardly noticeable and that's what it's there for 😉
What i do during hot summer : i immerse the watch into a bowl of fresh water and put the all thing in direct sun light. I’m always afraid to damage or weaken the gaskets, i guess this method can prevent from that. Nice video, cheers :-)
Interesting approach! I wonder if the water will reduce the intensity of light reaching the solar cell? Sounds like it works anyway and I guess it reduces the heat of the watch. I'll experiment with that one day. Thanks for the kind comment man, appreciate it.
I just purchased one of the watches on eBay at a good price, but unfortunately I’m not getting the manual with it…. So I’m watching videos until it arrives at my door.. Thank you for the valuable information on this video… if I hadn’t watched this video, and I had seen it go blank like that, I would have freaked out !!!!!! Thank you again for making this video and sharing your experience 😊
My pleasure Sir. But don't worry you'd be unlikely to make it go blank unless it gets really really hot! Congrats on the purchase... You will love that watch.
When it comes to knowing about the other side to G-Shocks, you’re there, and this video was a hammer of content :) They can take a deal of heat, and leaving it in direct sunlight isn’t recommended because of burning yourself, also the sun does love to fade colours and dry out resins.... really good to see how the LCD performs in heat, and how the module goes into safe mode when around 60c As for long term damage there isn’t any, as you have to think when the circuit board was made, it was flow soldered and that’s around 80c maybe more. The only side that isn’t good with the watch overheating, is the silicon oils used inside, on the gears and especially around where the gasket are. Charged quickly from ‘L’ which was very impressive, but then it does have virtually the whole dial as a solar panel ;) Over 900 subs my friend, want to see 1000+ very soon ;) Huge thumbs up and thanks for sharing more amazing content!
Thanks man, it was an interesting G-Shock experience that I thought people would like to see. Very good point about it not being damaged by heat as the manufacturing process has high heat too. I will avoid doing it on purpose again though; as you say the various components probably don't appreciate it. Hope your GPW project is going well...
@@stormrider1119 Cheers buddy... It was a 'typically you' in this video, and that's why I really want your channel to grow further, you really hit the topics I really have much interest in, and there's millions that are like minded for this content.... I have been pondering whether to get the Mudmaster gwg-1000 or Rangeman with a heart beat monitor. Your video is just amazing and thank you for testing it in that manner. I am edging closure to wanting the Mudmaster.
Thanks for the kind words man, I try to make videos people find interesting. I'm not sure if there is a Rangeman with heart rate monitor, although there are some G-Shocks now with the heart rate monitor. The Mudmaster is a great watch if you are pretty active and your watches get some hard wear. It's pretty big and heavy. The Rangeman GW-9400 is a great option if you want something a bit lighter.
Cool video! Cheers for sharing and taking the risk twice! I remember reading somewhere that it can take a maximum temperature of 70° but I certainly wouldn't want to try that out!
Thanks man, yes I think at 70 degrees it will basically cook the non metal components, I wouldn't want to push any further and from now on will keep it out of direct hot sunlight so long. Hope you are well, cheers!
I have used an ordinary light (gooseneck LED spotlight) to charge my GWG-2000. And it only took a couple of hours to get to full charge. LED lights dont get so hot. I used the IKEA NÄVLINGE LED spot light.
Wow! I panicked for a sec just watching that. I mean, look at it coming back to life and forming the LCD. If that does not look super cool and sophisticated, I dunno what does. This will stop me from having a stroke if I forget to leave my in the sun. (I live in Kuwait most of the year and temperatures here exceed 52 degrees in shade in summer). What an utter beast and piece of engineering :)
Haha. That's exactly the feeling I had when I picked it up when the LCD was blank. It's truly remarkable it comes back to full definition in less than a minute when it's been 55 degrees plus, twice! So yes you don't have to worry about it if you ever leave it out in the sun it would seem. They are true tanks. I don't know what would actually break it to be honest.
@@stormrider1119 one of the appeals of G-Shocks is that feeling of knowing that no matter what happens, you can rest assured that it would keep on ticking. In my opinion, GWG-1000 is the toughest of them all. True tank as you have said.
Very spooky watching this I too thought I had broken my watch. I ordered a prg-6600yb from italy to the uk it has module 5571. When the watch arrived it had low power and once I set it up it had dipped below low and the hands ended up at 1158. No lad display. I wasn't happy after spending £ 300 on a watch. Eventually realised it was the battery and mine did exactly the same as yours. It seems a very similar module with a lot of similar features. For a couple of days the watch stopped at random times. A slight tap on the case brought the hands back to life. This then stopped and the watch has been perfect since. 🥰
I recharge my Casio solar powered watches overnight next to a low energy or LED lightbulb. I prop the watches so they are within about 1cm of the bulb. At that distance they barely even get warm, but take a good amount of charge. Less damanding Casios charge overnight. The MR-Gs take maybe two nights.
Hi stormrider how are you keeping my friend? I just want to say a big thanks for this video.. it’s really impressive your willing to put your beloved beast through this stress and twice! Knowing what it was like first time. I really appreciate your willingness to provide this i formation buddy 👏🏻 fair play. What a watch it is 😲 I can’t stop wearing my gwg -1000 1A3, I’ve purchased the black band for it and it looks so good with it. I was a bit annoyed with a certain video on UA-cam recently wheee the top 10 g shocks were listed and I had to reply to the creator with disapproval that our watch was not in the list of 10, unbelievable! It’s definitely 2nd IMO with arguably the rangeman in first spot with it’s GPS capability and tracking. Just to give you an update with how the training is going, My eating is really good right now, my body shape has improved so much and I’ve dropped 2stone since I last messaged you, it’s been tough but good, I get lazy days as I work shift and motivation really is difficult a lot of the time as shiftwork and nights effect me. Having my 7year old boy stay with me every week is hard going but so good to have him stay. I need to get to the gym to push on as I’m not pushing myself hard enough I know I’m not.. I could press my slef more to start HIIT training when the weather is permitting as room in the house is very limited. It’s maybe excuses but I’m hammering press-ups and sit ups on a daily basis which helps a lot with the lack of gym time due to Covid and the lack of space I have.
Kev! I was wondering how you are doing mate. You lost 2 stone, that is incredible well done man. You must be feeling great. Your watch's power is fed by its capacitor and the battery charges the capacitor. A capacitor stores the energy and has just a 14 day power reserve. It is best to store g-shock watches in northern facing light here in North America.
Thanks for the info. When Power Dave (PS) mode is on the charge does last a lot longer. The watch hibernates and can stay charged for months when in a dark environment.
@@stormrider1119 It would be my understanding that since your battery recharged in a relatively short time, your battery was not very low but your capacitor to power the watch was extremely low. Keeping a solar g-shock out of total darkness is best in my opinion. :)
@@artemisXsidecross ah I think I understand. I'm definitely no expert on the subject of charging tech so I'm sure you are right. For me it has always been trial and error to see what works most effectively for charging. :)
Great informative video. Thanks mate. I place my watch in a cup of water just enough to submerge it up to the top of the buttons and place in direct sunlight.
@@automotiveoscilloscopediag2227 thanks so much for the kind words man. Yes a couple of people have mentioned this 'heat sink' approach and I'm definitely going to try it! Cheers!
I just had a similar issue on my Rangemaster and Citizen Promaster during Christmas. My problem was a bit differan though. Sitting on the window sill (even inside) in a Canadian winter caused the watch to get below recomended temperature plus with only about 7-8 hours of sun during the day it took both watches about 2-3 weeks to get to full charge again. Lets just say all my solar watches are now store in a watch display case with glass so they always have some exposure to light.
Yes I think environment plays a massive difference. I imagine the charge rate during a typical Canadian winter isn't too high. Lol. Your display case sounds like a fine idea.. Cheers
I put my gg b100 in a -20 degree freezer The screen had turned off Because i left it in for three days, when I took to out the watch was Covered in a very thin layer of ice, So I rubbed the Ice Off the screen The screen wasn't working but the hands were In about 15 seconds The screening came back It was impossible to press the buttons For the 1st Is 20 seconds but then I was able to press them, When I pressed them The LCD screen was moving very slowly, when i went to the tech temperature reading after around 30 seconds it showed a temperature of -16,3 degrees, after around 5 mins it returned it normal,i was very impressed that it actually survived and returned to normal because i thought i broke it.
I left my Casio King on a window sill to charge here in Arizona and that day it was 118 degrees fahrenheit (48 celsius).......I melted and destroyed the insides......
I wish the GWG-2000 has positive display and bluetooth connection, and maybe a way to set different light on time, like 3,5,10 sections. i find positive to be more functional as its easier to read.
@@stormrider1119 woah it truly is something else... this is the watch that I can just toss around and not worry about! ~ that dial is beautiful and the sapphire crystal is so clear!
I have had this watch for over 4 years, only issue I have since moving to Spain Costa del Sol. Is that the radio control signal does not work, no signal here 😡. Please change the ground coverage Casio 🙏🏻
That's frustrating, did you see the video I did where you can set it via the special app that is synced to the Japan radio signal? It really works well, it's a little fiddly but a fun little project. Glad to hear from another G-Shock GWG-1000 owner who loves the watch :)
Thank You so much Dude, i was just wondering what would happen if i put mine out in the sun for too long. I'm from Serbia, here summers are very hot and winters very cold. I got my watch in january and kept charging it on my led head lamp. P.S. First 😂
Glad if was useful Zoki! So basically if you have the GWG-1000 it would appear to be indestructible no matter what you do to it lol. Although I personally will just charge it in indirect sunlight going forward just beacaue I don't want to stress it too much and it charges really fast anyway. Cheers!
To avoid overheating in hot summer light you need a towel soaked with cold water and a white kitchen plate. Roll up the wet towel to the size of the bracelet, put the watch around the towel and align its face to the sun on the plate to recharge. The water in the towel will evaporate and keep the watch from overheating. The plate is just there to keep the window sill dry. Keep at least 8 inches (20 cm) distance to the window and you'll be fine. That's how I recharge my Rangeman in summertime.
@@stormrider1119 Thank you. I found this tip at the UA-cam channel " Bush Camping Tools", very useful and informative channel concerning a great variety of topics.

subscribed sr. keep up the good work, enjoying my recent purchase the little brother ggb100, looking to buy the gwg2000 hopefully by black Friday with some offer
You do allot on G shocks but have you ever looked into Protreks or even an Edifice? They share allot of the tough movements from the Gshocks and I've found them to be extremly durable as well. Perhaps not as durable as a gshock with the edifices but I was into Protreks before gshocks and with all the hiking and fishing I used to do I never broke one.
You know it's an area I need to explore. I have often looked at them but never bought one. Some look very cool and im sure they are very tough, legit adventure watches. I love a compass in my watch so I'm sure I'll be a fan. I'll look into them, cheers!
hey thx man.. i watched a lume war vid recently with some tritium tube watches included and thought hey i need one of those before remembering i already got a gwg1000 plus it got a cool serial number 221D007J 😁
Thank you so much for the video ! I wanted to share with you my experience and hope you could help me into the right direction, My GWG 1000 has shut down completely and wont start, the only thing i get is the blinking sign " CHARGE " and after a while goes away even when i put it towards direct sun light or under LED light for hours on end, 3 days straight even and it still does the same thing and wont start up. Does this mean the watch is broken and need technical help ?
That doesn’t sound right to me Sir. If it’s in sunlight for a day it should have a decent charge. Take it to your nearest CASIO dealer and ask for some advice. It also surprises me though because these things just never seem to have defects. Maybe there is a simple explanation we aren’t thinking of… Cheers Sir!
I didn't use my watch for a long time. It was in the box. I decided to use it again. I took it out of the box. all functions had stopped. It says charge on the digital screen. How long do I need to charge? Will it return to normal? Or is it completely out of battery?
No when on the wrist you are moving and it goes in and out of shade etc. This happened because it was left in an environment you wouldn't want to stay in without seeking shade. If that makes sense... Cheers!
The impossible happened. I dropped my black GWG-1000-1A1 about 4 feet to the wooden floor and the watch landed flat on it's face. Both the hour and the minute hand stopped moving. I couldn't solve the problem and neither could the local watchmaker. That's it. Kaput. I managed to break it. However I think this watch deserves a second chance so I ordered a pre-owned, excellent condition GWG-1000-1A3JF from Japan.
using a white LED light also able to charge all tough solar Gs, way safer than leaving it out in direct sunlight as it could fry the internals due to heat
Absolutely agree man. There is no way your average smart watch today will be around in 10 years. My G-Shock G-9300 Mudman is going strong 11 years later. Awesome bits of kit.
There is a huge difference between light and direct sunlight that creates heat. Room light is enough to recharge it. It is a expensive watch and I wont risk destroying it that way.
Yes, it is clear room light definitely provides a charge and you don't need direct sunlight. So unless it's very low I agree best to do it the least stressful way and not overheat the watch.
Good question! I don't really clean my G-Shocks very much as you can probably tell, lol. But I need to do that more so maybe will do a video on it when I do. Thank you for the comment :)
The best way to charge your gshock gwg is using uv c led. You can find it if you bought the uv tempered glass for your phone. It used for hardened the glue, and it can used to charge your gshock. More safety and no heat for the gshock. Try it for yourself. Thx
The biggest killer of solar watches is killing them over time by allowing them to overheat in full sun. i've done several videos on how to avoid this. Over heating as u found out also buggers up the LCD as will below -10C for these guys. The problem is with resin cased watches is that they are not good at conducting away heat (except the newer carbon impregnated PEEK resin models because carbon impregnated PEEK is a better thermal conductor. Use my evaporative cooling method in my vids, u can leave it in full summer sun and should be fine and it will charge very fast.

Indeed I do generally. I had been playing around with the settings on the GWG-1000 before I put it away for a while though and that's why it lost its charge over a few weeks. If I had PS mode on during that time I imagine it would not have gone below medium.
I've been a subscriber for a few months - seems to me this Mudmaster is your favourite G - your 'right hand man'. I really like the build quality, compared to the new carbon core version. What are you planning on picking up next? I have tried the MTGS1000 & can recommend this model as it slips under sleeves and has a very attractive dial. I think you should treat yourself to an MTG or MRG - the latter I doubt I'll ever own, as the outlay is to steep for me. I really enjoy your informative videos, thanks.
Thanks so much for the comment man. Interesting you mention the MTG S1000, I had the opportunity to buy one at a good price a while back and probably should have went for it. It's a cool looking watch and so much tech wrapped into it. I think the GWG-1000 is definitely in my top 5 but it's very situation dependent. For example, out and about smart casual I'll go GA-2100, wearing a suit Metal square, bike ride GW-9400 Rangeman, swimming G9300 Mudman. GWG for camping and tough outdoor workout. I have my eye on a very specoorc MR-G, they are beautiful and really hope one day I get the opportunity at the right price and the stars align. Cheers!
Thanks for the reply. I regret I passed on a new Mudman a few years ago for approx £100 new. Also I've some additional regrets, over choosing a GPW1000 over the GWG - this was a difficult decision at the time (3 yrs ago) - they were the same price. My life isn't as active as yours - I use a GMW5610 as a daily beater. A GD350 for as a beater when the vibe alarm is required. The GPW is on my wrist most of the remaining time - but I never use the GPS to sync the time - as atomic is reliable & a temp function would be useful instead. I've no plans to pickup anymore 'pieces' for a while - though the metal square w/resin band you have is v.tempting - but then there's the problem of having too many Gs and don't want to pickup something that gets little, to no use. Sorry for rambling. Thanks again.
@@freeatlast1963 not rambling at all man, I really enjoy listening to other people's perspectives. The GPW is a great watch and I think a classic. it happens to my Casio aq-s810w also I leave it at sunlight for few minutes cause its very hot the screen turns dark and recovered thinking it was toasted but it's completely fine lol
This is weird, i visit sauna with my oled display amazfit trex watch and it takes heat easily, going strong for almost 2 years, no overheating. Also from sauna straight to cold shower, takes abuse!
So I am thinking about getting one of these, and you are tell me , nothing wrong with the watch, but .. it does not work properly !!! .. how much does this watch cost.. do you see the problem in what you are saying ?
It’s a protection mechanism in the crystal display when it reaches a temperature most watches would break. It’s working great despite huge amounts of abuse over the past 7 years or so. I love mine. Not a single thing wrong with it.
@@stormrider1119 So the watch not working is a protection thing from the heat? I live in Arizona where it gets to 120 degrees , and my Gshock, keeps and going, and just about any other watch I have, including a mechanical wind up watch. The summer's in Arizona gets so hot you cant touch metal with out it burning your hands, you have a British accent, I grew up in the UK, the UK does not get that hot. Something is wrong with your watch, my Gshock is 11 years old, just saying.
It was an experiment to see how quick it would change in direct sunlight. I didn't know it would get so hot of that would happen to the LCD. It's all about learning :) . Thanks for the comment!
Guys, all you have to do is to buy some stronger LED bulb, >10W and put it for example in the lamp and then point to the watch and very near it and thats it
@@stormrider1119 I actually use a full spectrum LED grow light to charge my solar watches in the hot summer when the sun is too intense. It has the same Lux as the sun on an overcast day, uses very little electricity and is cold light because it is from an LED

@@stormrider1119 100% true GWG 1000s are a thing a beauty which are treasured dearly, they are getting very hard to source now, hence the high premiums they fetch, plenty of very good fakes out there too! I should know as I purchased one from a well known UK retailer for £600, my alarm bells rang when I checked out the lume which as you know it’s very bright on these watches especially on the dark green band variant, the lume was basically none existent, just a very faint glow on the hour and minutes hands. The middle dial crown only moved the hour and minutes hands, the digital display was just day, date stopwatch and alarm. The light was very poor quality, the button recessed too far which made operation too uncomfortable, BARO and TEMP dial never moved it was fixed in place. It was a very good looking fake probably the best I’ve ever seen but none the less it was still fake. I think what had happened was a previous customer purchased an original GWG 1000 then sent fake GWG 1000 back for a full refund and keep the original GWG 1000, it was that good of a fake return inspections where none the wiser. If you was interested I could send you the images of the fake GWG 1000 compared to my original and still the very best GWG 1000. No worries if not, Keep up the good work.
I use a G-shock Rangeman 9400-3 which is a negative display and use it after dark and with auto-light turned on; it is the best illuminated watch. I use a Rangeman 9400-1 with positive display during the day. This two watch setup, one for day and the other for after dark, cost less than one GWG-1000 MUDMASTER. I have used both since 2014 with no problem. :)
I understand that some people struggle with the fact that negative displays. I find it fine but I think for some it's to do with how your eyes see certain colours. Definitely positive displays are better for some people.

The only side that isn’t good with the watch overheating, is the silicon oils used inside, on the gears and especially around where the gasket are.
Charged quickly from ‘L’ which was very impressive, but then it does have virtually the whole dial as a solar panel ;)
Over 900 subs my friend, want to see 1000+ very soon ;)
Huge thumbs up and thanks for sharing more amazing content!

@@Phil5150Bower Now that's a great idea, StormRider you need to test that, preferably not with fizzy water LML ;-P
@@Phil5150Bower yes a couple of people have mentioned this. Fantastic idea, thanks very much for sharing I'm going to try it...
@@stormrider1119 Yeah you certainly don't want to be doing that too often! Thanks dude! Likewise...!
I have used an ordinary light (gooseneck LED spotlight) to charge my GWG-2000. And it only took a couple of hours to get to full charge. LED lights dont get so hot.
I used the IKEA NÄVLINGE LED spot light.
Good knowledge drop. Thank you GTR

Arguably the best... Cheers!
Monster of a watch 😁👍🏻
Absolutely Sir :)
Thanks. Today my GWG 2000 in direct winter sunlight , inside a metal box, reach 40° and i was worried 🙂
It’ll be fine I’m sure!
In the winter I place mine under a LED lamp to keep the charge high.
Yep, good move. The solar cell works on any light source so that will definitely help. Thanks for the comment
@iPeter that sounds like a very cool idea
Very spooky watching this I too thought I had broken my watch. I ordered a prg-6600yb from italy to the uk it has module 5571. When the watch arrived it had low power and once I set it up it had dipped below low and the hands ended up at 1158. No lad display. I wasn't happy after spending £ 300 on a watch. Eventually realised it was the battery and mine did exactly the same as yours. It seems a very similar module with a lot of similar features. For a couple of days the watch stopped at random times. A slight tap on the case brought the hands back to life. This then stopped and the watch has been perfect since. 🥰
Great to hear it! And from experience it doesn't need a lot of light to maintain a good charge. Glad you love the PRG :)
The prg is lovely with the green cloth strap. Keep up the good work.

Cheers

How long do we have to leave it in the sunlight for the battery to switch from the m level to the H level?
So.. what happens if you have this watch on your wrist and you spend time outside on a sunny day? Is it overheated constantly?
No when on the wrist you are moving and it goes in and out of shade etc. This happened because it was left in an environment you wouldn't want to stay in without seeking shade. If that makes sense... Cheers!
@@stormrider1119 Got it, thanks mate!
The impossible happened. I dropped my black GWG-1000-1A1 about 4 feet to the wooden floor and the watch landed flat on it's face. Both the hour and the minute hand stopped moving. However I think this watch deserves a second chance so I ordered a pre-owned, excellent condition GWG-1000-1A3JF from Japan.
using a white LED light also able to charge all tough solar Gs, way safer than leaving it out in direct sunlight as it could fry the internals due to heat

Interesting, thanks for letting me know and commenting. So definitely sounds like it causes no long term issues :)

Great advice thank you Jonathan. I will give it a go!

@@stormrider1119 So the watch not working is a protection thing from the heat?

Something is wrong with your watch, my Gshock is 11 years old, just saying.

I will never buy a black display g-shock again. you cannot see it in lower light there for makes the watch useless to me. i bought 2 and not to happy
