+Jman_ 5540 (Jman_5540) the boy asked if they are playing "touch move". Typically chess is played this way, but the opponent decided to let the boy correct his mistake when he didn't have to. It cost him the match.
Having played with some of them, most are 1500-1600 elo. Few are quite higher. If they are nice, like this man, they are all the more fun to play with.
Well, when his dad is bragging about how his kid beat the hustler, it invites observations such as the fact that the hustler allowed the kid to take back his rook move after he took his hand off the piece.
holy shit the amount of people saying he missed checkmate at 3:50 with Rh8 don't realise he's is in check. The incredible thing is nobody in the comments mentioned Qf6 at 3:10 with indeed a forced mate.
I would Like to suggest in the second match around 8:24 to check the black king with no mercy with the knight standing by the white's queen, this ngates reguar king exits plus puts the king into a position for many attacks. one is getting the other rook into play in case he decides to go in the middle, if king instead goes dark square there is a check with the queen allowing it to be more active keep the knight safe, even trading queens to defend may solve the issue for white for a bit but the activity of black pieces woud be higher for attacks with rocks and that knight and back is not forced to trade queen anyway.
MISSED MATE IN 1 lol i saw it without pausing but he didn't play it. 3:46 guy moves his queen to d4, the blue queen. now its the kids turn he can mate with rook on h3 to h8 check mate with his queen backing him on f6 square, he can ignore his queen lol why take when you got check mate?
A much more winning move in the first game is Qf6 a much more quicker way to checkmate black, the threat is either Qh8 or Rh8 checkmate. Black cannot play Qd4 since the square is guarded by the knight.
@3:13 the best move for the white was to move his queen to f6 before moving his knight to g3. Either Black would lose his queen or otherwise would be checkmated in the very next move.
+StopFear There is no charge. They are great guys and people take care of them. A couple times I've given them $10. Recently Cornbread gave a 45 minute lesson to 2 of my young students in the freezing cold. I gave him $20.
It's pretty cool that he didn't play a true blitz game with him and told him to take his time, see the moves and know the whole opening before he moves fast.
I like this "Chess Hustler", I think it is really cool that he doesn't mind getting his ass kicked by a kid - he shows that he is truly passionate about the game.and that he respects the kid regardless of age. RESPECT - and still great for the kid to practice with someone his own level.
oh wait, on second thought. he's in check. I couldn't tell at first. this kid is good. he'll be a grandmaster if he keeps it up. hopefully with these videos we can follow his journey
also... grandmaster is a very high achievement. it takes a LOT of scrifice. if you dont want to make that decision for him - to turn his life into a chess achievement race - theres no need really to aspire for a gm title.
That sounds like unnecessary critique. There have been grandmaster's completely apathetic to the game. They come in various sizes and shapes. Rather than dismissing your son's potential, I would look much more kindly towards an argument that read something like that he have other passions he wishes to pursue on a deeper level than chess.
+Defendor Thanks! I got him to 1400 and here is where I take a step back. He's going to "Russian grandmaster" for two weeks in the summer but aside from that and the 30 minutes of chesstempo.com I have him do everyday....I'm stepping back. He has to take himself from here - as does anyone really.
you sound like a great dad. I used to play this kid when I was in 8th grade and he was in 5th. We were both rated around 1500 for a while, and I pulled away probably because I was older. I have not gotten higher than the mid seventeen hundreds, but he got above 2000 by age 18, and I am not sure how seriously he took his practice, he is now 19 and not doing chess anymore. So with your kid lots of improvement can happen if he is still interested in chess in a few years. If not, its all about staying mentally sharp, lets say chess, or math problems, or reading and writing, or whatever you can come up with. Make sure your child exercises regularly like an athlete, it helps a lot with school performance, and the extracurriculars too. Swimming and Running are great, its mostly about the cardio. Sound like you are doing a good job as a dad.
Thanks. Agree. Definitely trying to incorporate "less sitting", not necessarily sports but more constant, organic movement. Sitting is my new villain. Not a fan of shoes either. Doing a lot of barefoot stuff with whole family - including "barefoot running".
in the first game the kid missed mate. instead of exchanging queens there was rook to h8. but it didn't matter in the end. he's really good for his age
he is playing very good, keep encouraging him, he might try for some title and as with age, he might start burning with defeat. so what if he is a gracious loser. or a gracious winner.
Not trying to take anything away from the kid but I just dont get blown away when I see child "prodigies". Their brains soak up knowledge faster than that of an adult. Better students because their memory isnt full yet. However it is extremely adorable hearing him say "checkmate"
I love both these players. No trash talking. The man is a gentleman. The kid is inspiring.
It's very cool of these guys to help the young man gain some confidence.
I only watched the first game but I feel like he let him win on purpose
Paul2nis These guys are chess hustlers. They're lots better than you think. Hence why I stated 'help the young man gain confidence.' Come on man.
Out of all the chess hustler videos I've watched this guy seems by far the nicest. Seems humble and like a good guy.
I was agreeing wih you. Come on man
Alex Bong he touch move and just let him get away doesnt seem fair to me
I love this: no talking, just concentration.
6:00 what a class act
indeed a nice guy.. the whole.. take your time.. get to know your openings ect. in the beginning as well
Patrick Smith what did he say?
+Jman_ 5540 (Jman_5540) the boy asked if they are playing "touch move". Typically chess is played this way, but the opponent decided to let the boy correct his mistake when he didn't have to. It cost him the match.
Patrick Smith what does touch move mean
Jman_ 5540 whatever piece you touch first for your next move has to be played
The opponent was very nice to the kid.
A winner in life 💚
those blue pieces look sick
jonavuka I wish I had them
init
Haha I was totally thinking that!
A dollar on Alibaba
Everyone is a grand master on the comments xDDD
NandoGSI10 i know right?! it takes more than average moves to beat a ny hustler!
Having played with some of them, most are 1500-1600 elo. Few are quite higher.

Now this is how you “ hustle”. Teaching children (or learning from them 🤣). Congrats to that Gentleman and Thank You !
Another amazing old school cat showing love to the younger generation. So few words show so much respect when it comes to chess. Only in NYC baby!
holy shit the amount of people saying he missed checkmate at 3:50 with Rh8 don't realise he's is in check. The incredible thing is nobody in the comments mentioned Qf6 at 3:10 with indeed a forced mate.
Carlos Silva that's note a mate?
Isaiah T exactly how do you stop Rh8?
not a mate but the men loses his queen (Qd4), so yep, a win
daniele rabino Qf6 Qd4 Nxd4 Rxd4 Rh8#. Its still a forced mate, black can throw the queen away first.
i mean, same of later
I would Like to suggest in the second match around 8:24 to check the black king with no mercy with the knight standing by the white's queen, this ngates reguar king exits plus puts the king into a position for many attacks. one is getting the other rook into play in case he decides to go in the middle, if king instead goes dark square there is a check with the queen allowing it to be more active keep the knight safe, even trading queens to defend may solve the issue for white for a bit but the activity of black pieces woud be higher for attacks with rocks and that knight and back is not forced to trade queen anyway.
Dad, you should be very proud of your son.
I love that guy, he's so humble, unlike any other chess hustler
MISSED MATE IN 1 lol i saw it without pausing but he didn't play it. 3:46 guy moves his queen to d4, the blue queen. now its the kids turn he can mate with rook on h3 to h8 check mate with his queen backing him on f6 square, he can ignore his queen lol why take when you got check mate?
Stockfish News:
The engine says that at 5:00 Black is winning, with an advantage superior or equal to -50.72. The suggested move for white is Nd2+.
With the next move, Tb6 white has further weakened his position, and Black has a forced mate in 18.
at 3:52 I think white: Rook to H1 would have been mate instead of taking the queen
What is the name of the opening of the older guy?
Looks familiar with the pawn pyramid at 0:47
A much more winning move in the first game is Qf6 a much more quicker way to checkmate black, the threat is either Qh8 or Rh8 checkmate. Black cannot play Qd4 since the square is guarded by the knight.

You are letting him win
Do the guys at the park charge to let someone play a game with them? And do they do the same if they know your kid has a high chance of winning?
+StopFear There is no charge. They are great guys and people take care of them. A couple times I've given them $10. Recently Cornbread gave a 45 minute lesson to 2 of my young students in the freezing cold. I gave him $20.
i want to see som more videos like this with this kid
It's pretty cool that he didn't play a true blitz game with him and told him to take his time, see the moves and know the whole opening before he moves fast.
at 3:49 couldn't your son play Rh8#? instead of trading queens?
queen d4 was a check move
Yes,He miss that, no defence against Qf6
Yes that would have been checkmate right or were my eyes fooling me?
Boy is in check if you look close
How good are those chess hustlers in rating?
I love how the kids apponent is such a nice and quiet guy
at 3:42 wasn't that a check mate opportunity for the kid?
His king was in check
What will happen when there is rain??
3:50 Rh8 mate or am I missing something. Good game though, your son played good. Trying learn my son and he is 3 now. Not an easy job to do)
He is in check that's what you are missing :)
@@Marius-xm3wz ah yes, you're right :)
I like this "Chess Hustler", I think it is really cool that he doesn't mind getting his ass kicked by a kid - he shows that he is truly passionate about the game.and that he respects the kid regardless of age. RESPECT - and still great for the kid to practice with someone his own level.
Anyone else notice that he missed the checkmate at 3:47?
Alex Holland I saw it
+Pastor Kenya Harris the blue queen was chequing the white king
no, the kid should be move queen H4, and walahh check mate
+ongot ongot @3:02
Alex Holland but the king was in check so he couldn't have moved his rook
3:45 why not rook rh3-rh8?
Good to see a kind hearted guy.
Pretty solid game by the boy. He did miss a checkmate, I think at 3:47. Instead of QxQ, play Rh8++ (the rook is sitting on h3, it appears).
Oh wait. He had to move out of check.
Correct....I missed the check. Thanks.
somebody add a link to buy these blue pieces
At the 3:15 mark white whoulda played Qf6 threatening mate in one.Black could not save himseelf, he would have had one check and then it's over.
his opponet was actually being nice to him
The old man's a hustler... he totally let the kid win... but people don't understand that
Isn't that the dude Carlsen played when Liv Tyler and him were chilling?
3:33 wasnt it checkmate if he moved the castle instead of the queen?(im greek and I dont know how the fuck its called in english)
At 9:47 white should play Rook, f1-f2..
I am confused.....why is the title of the video "hustling"? am I missing something?
That kid is pretty darned good! And that "hustler" is one of the ones Magnus beat on his visit to Washington Square! Seems like a very nice guy too.
Qué bien juega al Ajedrez el niño!... Me gustaría jugar en ese lugar, Washington Square garden chess.🤗
8:10 black could play ....Bxe6 instead?
3:50 Rh8#
Young Fischer! Great games John!
oh wait, on second thought. he's in check. I couldn't tell at first. this kid is good. he'll be a grandmaster if he keeps it up. hopefully with these videos we can follow his journey
No chance of being a grandmaster. My son doesn't have the killer instinct. He doesn't burn with each defeat.
These videos are awesome man. Great to watch.

I seriously have to get to Washington Square Park one of these days.
3:47 he actually missed a check mate by playing castle next to king
look closer. he was in check by blue queen
Really nice dude. Nice to see one of these games where someone isnt talking constantly too.
at 3:51 he could have moved his rook to h8 and check mate
why not RH8 at 3:47 ?
He was in check..
3:26 he missed Qf3 that's a instant make the dark squares are weak make use of it
what is his rating
your son is talented, in a few years his rating is going to climb very fast. Exciting times!

What's wrong with shoes? You just sound like some crazy dad now who nurtures their children into being socially awkward and strange.
do not listen to these idiots, they are just projecting
Whrre is washington square
great show
There was a mate in one just instead queen exchange: Rh8.
Qd4 was check
Didn't this guy play magnus? He got pwnd in 10 moves!
a board would've been a nice gesture
Look at this smart kid. Great teacher.
Mate in one from that kid 3:49
theres a mate before queen exchange...haha im glad i notice it
this kids gonna be hustling these dudes for beer money on high school
great future for this kid. nice game
at 3:51 the kid should put the rook near the king for the check mate instead take the queen head on
That man stayed amazed
Who is this "kid" ? He's great!
You are my idle kid thank you I'm still learning
nice checkmate tho.. that knight taking away an escape square
When I come home to NY I want to play this kid.
in the first game the kid missed mate. instead of exchanging queens there was rook to h8. but it didn't matter in the end. he's really good for his age
He did not miss anything, his King was in check so he could not have mated with the rook.
Erik Komas I caught that soon after posting
Kingomegared the mate he did miss was Qf6 at 9:10 no exchanging queens with the knight still on e2
Does this father only upload videos of his winning?
Who cares man? The kids like 5 years old for Gods sake. Get a life.
Man, kid missed the mate with the rook.
That kid's awesome. He missed rook h8 mate at 350 though...I think.
kid's in check at 3:50
Ahh, thanks.
kroppyer he is in check but he then he stopped the piece that put him in it so he got out when he took the queen
On 3:47 he had a mate with his rook on H8
whats ur sons elo rating?
he is playing very good, keep encouraging him, he might try for some title and as with age, he might start burning with defeat. so what if he is a gracious loser. or a gracious winner.
Isnt this the kid who had Magnus Carlsen in his ear? Because i saw a video. Then later on Magnus did go against that guy later on.
No. Not him.
3:51 mate with tower.
At 3:50 instead of taking the black queen the kid should have played Rh8 mate!
Min 3:47 rook (torre) h8 checkmate
What is a Hustler ??
It's what the old man is doing to the kid... letting him win... reeling him in... this one is on the house though
I love how they didn’t play with time
These are the Autumn games, Autumn games, The Autumn games
Esse carinha tem futuro, se pegar umas aulas comigo ele vira campeão mundial
Qf6-Qc4
Rh8 check mat...
What is wrong with me?
3:47 If the rook on the kids right hand field went next to the king, that would be checkmate.
3:47 checkmate with rook in H8
i absolutely love this kid he is amazing he should go pro some day because he can beat a "hustler" at 11 years old
I bet this kid does well at school
The blue pieces are unacceptable.
lol
I teach a boy in England who is a doppelganger for this lad!
Not trying to take anything away from the kid but I just dont get blown away when I see child "prodigies". Their brains soak up knowledge faster than that of an adult. Better students because their memory isnt full yet. However it is extremely adorable hearing him say "checkmate"
black (blue) had a crappy counter opening. i put the game through a computer and white was destined to win.
6:31 blue lost a golden opportunity to kill the pawn with the rook and win
liskran lmao he’s check wdym
Well done
what are chess hustlers
3:51 Rh8 mate
***** didnt see that
