    I prefer the term 'cheater'.

      @StayAwayFromMyCat 5 років тому +10

      I prefer the term "actor." I mean, is everyone really so gullible that they believe a hustler randomly walks up to a table with a camera on a tripod pointed at it and proceeds to try and slip a cheated move in 😂

    • @MultiCheeseLouise
      @MultiCheeseLouise 5 років тому +30

      A chess hustler is usually not a cheater... they just underplay their skill until you put money down on the game and then they play for real and beat you. What this cheater did is not the usual way a hustler will perform.

      Fair enough, except of course ANY move that he was going to play was going to have some kind of advantage to it, otherwise he wouldn't be considering it. If it was an accidental illegal move it would likely also be a good one, otherwise he wouldn't have considered the move in the first place.

    It is heart-warming that the most popular comment on this video is someone stating the timestamp of the actual cheat move.
    Hero indeed, a cape should be worn, I even dare suggest some medal or life-long achievement.
    This unbelievably helpful person saved hundreds of people 7 minutes of their life.
    It makes you go silent and bow the head (not too long though).
    We all are very busy and constantly bettering the world and ourselves. These hundreds could have used those 7 minutes to save a child, help a woman give birth, rescue a cat from a tree, save someone drowning. The things we all do all the time.
    So yes, making us go through a chess video (we like chess but don't ask us to watch it please) for 7 minutes until we reach the point we want to see, that is almost a crime to humanity.
    I'm taking myself now like 10 minutes to compose this tribute, in which time sadly probably someone died or got ill or lost or drowned, had I not been occupied with this.
    But for once it is worth it. This hero deserves all the credit and respect and admiration.
    It actually brings a tear in my eye.
    But I have to get a grip. I'm working on a theory how to battle global warming and can not waste any time.
    Cheers people! And hail to the timestamp heroes! In the end, they will be the ones saving this planet.
    Peace out.

    Playing clock move instead of touch move is asking for trouble. Here's a scenario. You're both in time trouble. He makes a move, and slaps the clock without actually pressing the button. If you don't notice, you might respond to his move, whereupon he puts your piece back, and moves his piece to a different square, and presses the clock. By then, you're probably confused, and do something inappropriate, such as stopping the clock. Stopping the clock means you're declaring the game over, and if you don't have a legitimate reason for stopping the clock, you lose.

    • @CoffeeChess
      @CoffeeChess  7 років тому

      Black was going to move knight to f4 to set up a mate threat (queen takes on g2 mate) so g3 prevents black from moving the knight to f4, plus blocks the mate path of the queen. Normally a move like g3 would be dangerous if black had a light square bishop because combined with a queen, there could be mating opportunities but since I saw black had no light square bishhop, I was comfortable pushing g3 to prevent Nf4.

      It was agreed upon before the game that it was going to be CLOCK MOVE (hitting clock is final). That's what we normally play here in street chess in Southern California. If we agreed on touch move, I would've been forced to move the piece I touched.

    • @davividal
      @davividal 7 років тому +4

      It depends. Specially on blitz. One time I was playing 1 minute blitz: 1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. c3 Nc6 5. Nf3 Qb6 6. Be3 Nge7 7. dxc5 Bxc5.
      Yep. I made my bishop jump over my knight. And I wish I could tell you that I was cheating, but in fact I forgot about my knight on e7.
      How? Well, I don't know. All I know is that we laugh really hard about it.
      And now answering your comment: I don't think that making an illegal move is less of a cheat than not playing touch move. Both are cheats.
      I just think it is funny how easy it was for the OP to brand the hustler as a cheater on the same game as he cheated, before the hustler as well. :)
      But I just watched again: it looks to me that the hustler did cheat.

    I’ll bet when he made the illegal move for a split second you were thinking to yourself “F@%! How did i not see that?” because as you said due to position/time constraint you were briefly distracted and had already calculated moves based on the legal position. This has happened to me also, not until re analyzing the game was I like wait WHAT THE WHAT HEY!!!!!! Great game sir!

    Yep when my son was a Jr. I would watch for cheats! USCF kids tournaments would record moves very haphazardly towards the end of games and saw 10 and 11 year-olds cheating. They were counting on their opponent not checking the score sheet. Another time a father was giving his son moves in Hindi as he would pace back and forth behind my son. I called the tournament director and he cleared the room of parents. Later I approached the man in front of his team, parents and all and told them, "Looks like my son beat both your son as well as beat you!" One of the parents thanked me for calling him out and said he had been giving his son moves for over a year in a similar fashion.
