Eugene was also over with the kids at the time, including my autistic nephew. Eugene was his favorite wrestler at the time because, and I quote, "He's like me!" He related to Eugene and didn't see the character as making fun of him, unlike some people try to virtue signal Eugene as doing.

7:13 - Eugene & Regal dropped the titles at a random house show because Eugene suffered a ruptured patellar at New Year's Revolution a week earlier. In fact Eugene didn't even wrestle in the match, he had to be replaced by The Coach.
Only problem is this is a bug to most fans but a feature to Vince. IMO, the complete inability to handle tag teams in WWE is part of the reason for the relative lack of roster depth on RAW and SD right now.
And WWE has 3 tag belts less important than the 24/7 title. Hell the UK belts are more important and I bet you forget WWE had tag team champions in the UK.

Idk there were a lot of Snitskys, Heidenreichs and other awful big men being pushed and failing while the Cruiserweight division was relegated to Velocity (which was honestly better than Smackdown in 04).
I loved William Regal and Eugene as a team. Despite how random it started the two had a natural chemistry together and some of Regals best promo work ever was done within that pairing.

WTF?), then almost getting into Legacy instead of Cody Rhodes... damn, the wrestling scene in 2021 might look a whole lot different if Deuce had gotten that pinfall back in 2008, wouldn't it? Oh, and then being a cameraman plant in that infamous HBK/Taker match at Mania 25, and not catching Taker on his suicide dive, which nearly became an ACTUAL suicide dive. Then, getting released that June, which was definitely COMPLETELY unrelated.

Yes RVD and Rey Mysterio had a thrown together feel to them, but they were the first tag team I saw when I first started watching wrestling religiously. They beat the Dudleys before Judgment Day 2004 so at least them winning the belts before Armageddon had some precedent. And it was a fun watch to see them get one over on Rene and Suzuki.

It's crazy how many of these teams came from the ruthless aggression era. It seems that outside of evolution and the smackdown 6, wwe didnt really care about the tag division(like in the modern day).

I think Roddy Piper teaming with Flair in 2006 was actually good. For one reason, because WWE needed to do a physical test on Piper, they found something bad that Piper was able to get sorted before it got too bad to sort. Forgot what the specifics were but when I heard about that, I have since thought them winning the Titles wasn't that bad. Because some good came out of it.
I thought I understand why we make fun of them, their needs to be a list of the best thrown together tag teams (New Day excluded but can get an honorable mention) in WWE, and Breezango needs to be in the Top 5.
I wanna see some top stars take the belts and hold them for a year. Just defending them every week on Raw/SmackDown and each PPV making them feel important. Would at least be somewhat interesting compared to what we have now.
Depends on how early into the match Trips tore something, honestly. :-(. AJ would have found a way to make it a decent match. (He had a great match with Shane McMahon, ffs) and Triple H is an underrated in-ring storyteller for all of the things he *doesn't* do particularly well. But it's a clash of styles - no pun intended. And Triple H probably knew that, too. Oh, well. Maybe Omos can learn a thing or two rubbing shoulders with AJ.
Cody and Drew's team had a name ("The Dashing Ones"). I wouldn't have known that if Drew himself didn't reference it during the buildup to WrestleMania XL in a promo with Cody.

I wanna see some top stars take the belts and hold them for a year. Just defending them every week on Raw/SmackDown and each PPV making them feel important. Would at least be somewhat interesting compared to what we have now.

It wasn’t their fault but their reign was what buried those titles so early into their existence.
It may be because I've watched wrestling religiously since 1994, but I remember all of these teams winning the championship... Not sure I'm proud.
Maybe just cuz i grew up along side ruthless aggressions era, I remember 9 out of 10 of these team were champ quite vividly.

Depends on how early into the match Trips tore something, honestly. :-(. AJ would have found a way to make it a decent match. (He had a great match with Shane McMahon, ffs) and Triple H is an underrated in-ring storyteller for all of the things he *doesn't* do particularly well. But it's a clash of styles - no pun intended. And Triple H probably knew that, too. Oh, well. Maybe Omos can learn a thing or two rubbing shoulders with AJ.

As far as thrown together teams go. Kane and X-Pac and Rock and Sock were two of my favourites.
Both of these had cool storylines where the bigger star was reluctant to team with the plucky underdog. Only to be won over simply with the power of friendship
