The whole box concept, being confined due to your anxiety, that's what I think. Being close minded and kind of like claustrophobic, being afraid of being in a small place which is your mind and you looking to get out .. I think this is what Aesops verse is about IMO
As always Aes takes a min to decipher. First few listens got me on this thought: It’s obviously “layers upon layers” theme. -Inside the box another box -pandora has a pandora -Aes is speaking about isolation and feeling like a phony pertaining to fame and attention…between you and your pumpkin seeds, & powerball, & Sunkist peach, at one or 1:15am all you want is drugs & peace. All you get is waves & waves of uninvited company -each secret layer has inner & orbiter, corridor after corridor This track reminds me of Mandelbrot sets 😆

Pretty sure Aes' verse is just him talking about all the danger and weirdos you might encounter on a late night snack run. "holes covered up with leaves" is talking about bear traps, like there could be a trap anywhere to fall into on his errand. He's keen to the furthest needle drop because he's on high alert. he talks about the odd untrustworthy people he runs into, "druid, vandal, huckster, priest" but he just wants his pumpkin seeds and Sunkist and it's late and he just wants drugs and peace. Lupe's on another trip, while Aes' verse is describing a scene, Lupe's talking about a concept, like how there's entire worlds inside the small details. He calls his teeth oral choral reefs because his mouth is an ocean, and there's even immigrants trying to cross the border hiding inside the tooth he's prying out lol. Lupe's verse is way more hopeful, like he's giving you the keys to some kind of knowledge. He's saying don't waste your lucky shot, "i rigged the wheels go gut the slots" like he's saying go for it because fortune is waiting for you, he rigged it that way for you even. there's a lot of contrast because Aes' verse is way more apocalyptic and cynical, relating to the theme of a lot of his songs which is about his fear of going outside and interacting with people. So when he's saying inside the box is another box it's like a hopeless statement like you can't escape, nothing's what it seems so beware. but Lupe's saying the opposite. Lupe's saying it's good that nothing is what it seems, there's surprises and discovery everywhere. which is pretty true to Lupe's vibe too, he's all about inspiration and community and education and hope. While Aes is more about the dark stuff, isolation and distrust and duplicity. Despite the differences it still somehow works together and I hope they rap together more.
I am also kind a shut-in misanthrope ("Coffee" is a fucking anthem), work from home, get off late, the convenience store down the block is open late but always surrounded by sketchy folks, and this is a whoooole ass vibe. Sometimes you gotta run the gauntlet for some funyons and soda.
I met Aesop the day before this came out. I was on my smoke break and he was filming sebo walker skate a 12 stair. It was crazy met my favorite mc and a great skater the same day randomly
Oral corral reefs. Coral is a multiceluar animal. Its a single thing made up of smaller things. Each cell of a coral reef is stand alone but they network together.
Pig noses are better at picking up scents than a dog's nose, catalytic converters removed things. Its a juxtaposition. Something good at recieveing to something good at blocking.
Truffle pig noses to catalytic converters. I thi k its the idea of taking something natural and good at what it does and sensoring it. A way of saying we take something beautiful and alter it, give it filters. Filter out what we dont like but in the process loose what makes it special.

You should check out Cool Calm Pete if you haven't already, he's got a pretty small discography and almost all of it is from like 2003-2005 but all of it is heat. He's got a solo album called Lost and he was in the group Babbletron. If you want to hear him and Aes on a track together check out the song Side Two.
Can you do a react to Harry Mack Omegle bars 85 or 86. Imo he’s the best freestyler in the world and what you see is real and off the top of the dome. He is a computer. You won’t regret it.
