This has seriously inspired me to become a barber. I'm in an Early College High School and i've always dreamed of becoming a computer technician but until I saw a video by Daniel Alfonso (Hanz de Fuko hairstylist) barbering really took me by surprise. Daniel is really a huge inspiration for me and will continue to be. I have one more year left of school and I really feel that barbering will be my path.
I am so happy that I came across this channel. I have so much respect for both the artful craftsman you portray in your videos and for you and your masterful way of sharing these stories. Thanks!
I saw this video about 10 years ago when I was 14. This gave me the Barber's itch and I've been working in a shop after Barber school for about a month now and taking my state board exam soon. This video really started it all for me and gave me the idea to follow this path. Thank you
My mom's grandfathers were both barbers in Buffalo, NY. They met as business partners and moved to LA together to start a barber shop in downtown in the 1930s. One of their sons married the other's daughter and the rest is history. They ran a barber shop in the basement of the Security Pacific Bank building in downtown LA for 25 years or so. This video brought back lots of memories of them.
AWESOME!!! I have been in the biz for 15 years. The traditional barbershop is making a come back. Men are deciding to be men and go to a place that actually says " Barbershop" The video is very inspiring! Thanks for sharing !!
Great video lads.Best barbershops i ever seen.I am proud to be a barber .Its really kind of culture. Its great motivation for me open another biger shop.thanks
I love this video and I love the mentality behind these guys entire set up I work in a boring old man barbershop in nj and I'm trying to bring a younger feel and a more modern approach to an old feeling establishment. People ask me all the time why would I want to become a barber and I tell them well who is gonna cut your hair when gippetto the Guido barber finally kicks the bucket?!?! I'm glad these guys are doing something I can relate to and if I was on the west coast I'd be working for these guys for sure.
I will follow in these footsteps. I will get my license after the military and eventually open up my own shop. I will have my own UA-cam channel. Watch out for me in Atlanta Georgia!
in my fourth month of barber school this gave me some encouragement ive been stressing over money, but this reminded me why i started school in the first place thanks for the video
A great way to spend the weekend, or after a hectic day at work, is a nice professional shave and simple facial massage at a vintage and characterful barber shop. When I'm back in the States for a short while, I'll always visit The Modern Man barber shop in Portland. Lovely old school charm, with an adjoining PUB where you'll enjoy your fav whisky or other drinks, have a cigar while waiting, or after your shave and hair cut. BLISS!.
Bingo, the man nailed it ... 'Make less money and be happy' - that's me through and through. Apparently the job satisfaction of Barbers as a profession is very high - it's a social activity and you get to see the product of your labour walk out the door with a smile on their faces.
Great video !!! Just giving a shout out to my local barbershop here in Fresno Ca and these two guys are great and the shop is a sports shop from football to boxing and it's just a great place to hangout and get a cut !!! Leonels barbershop !!!
Although I prefer to have my hair cut textured and messy, I can't express enough how cool this is that the barber shop is making a come back, that there are business owners who are willing to go the extra mile to make something like a hair cut an experience not just a chore.
@andomaxcha Thanks. It's a good feelin when you hand your client the mirror and they are like real nice work. To know they appreciated your effort is the best feelin to me, n no job I ever had has ever gave that to me.
i typically go to a barber for my cuts. This last time I got my hair cut at a salon, because I was there waiting for someone. The way it came out, I was horrified. I told her to finish up her cut and paid (yes, I paid, she's only doing her job). I went home and was very close to shaving it all off; instead i went to work the next day with my head down. Immediately following I went right back to my barber and he was able to salvage it. TL;DR: Thank goodness for good barbers who makes cutting hair their art-form.
ive been shaving my head for 10+ years and im ready for something new, the closest barber to me is 2 hours away should i travel that far to get the first cut of something new just to try the new haircut or just go to a salon to have it done?
***** curly thick hair im to the point to where it stops growing normally and starts to fro out and i need the cut bad, also i have a wedding that im in coming up. what would be worth it to do at this point?
ive always had thoughts about becoming/learning the barber trade for the very same reasons that were displayed in this vid. ive always viewed it like that a sub almost counter culture and definitely a "mancave" feel IMO. I think this is the level/plane of skill I want to achieve . . . nice
20 years ago I was a barber, my dad and I had our own shop. I loved the profession, but my Dad died young at 52 and after that I lost my passion. It is a wonderful craft, but you must have passion for it. I do miss it. The only down side is you have to learn to manage your cash well when you have a slow month. I am very security mined and like the fact that I have a stead check (working in an office). Barbering can be feat for famine. But it's a great lifestyle and very addicting.

Das hatten die bei mir im Barbershop damals auch gemacht, der hat abe reinfach nur gefragt ob er den Scheitel ausrasieren soll. Weiß nicht ob es da nen speziellen Namen für gibt

Hit up this Barber shop I heard was pretty good..owner wasn't there and some chick was cutting for the day..Best haircut I've received so far. Just thought I'd share that.
Hey dude, Im a Graphic designer so I love seeing comments about fonts. I found one close to the font you're talking about called roper but it's not free. Here is the link www.myfonts.com/fonts/virtuecreative/roper/ Otherwise the font might be custom but easy to recreate if you know how to use Illustrator. Hope that helps! Font on!
my barber was a navy barber for 40 years. the only cuts ive ever seen him him do is flattops and high and tights. but that dude can tightest fade you ever had UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA
I own a little two-chair joint in Tennessee and we hear daily how glad our customers are to find an authentic barber shop. We don't do appointments and hour-long waits are not uncommon. Gone are the days when men were forced into cookie-cutter unisex salons or franchise haircutteries. Men are looking for something real -- not gimmicky or theme-y -- and they are looking for barbers who understand how men think and how they wear and groom their hair. Long live the barber shop!
i used to feel like that too. I just started hanging around barbershops and learning everytime I got cut. Then I started to practice on myself, and little by little on my friends and now my neighbors and friends all hit me up for cuts. And don't worry about looking like an idiot, school is for learning and nobody is good at something the first time they try it but they get better with practice. if you really like it then just go for it bro.

I love these old school barbershops. I find them very relaxing

Never go to a salon for a mans haircut! Barbers are for mens hair.

Servus Marc,
Belze bart
Ich meine speziell den ausrasierten Scheitel.
