Nice review again Pete , big fan of Mark over at LIW , been trying to convince him that this dial needs to go into one of the 38mm case's , but in terms of value the teal SF40 blows everything out the water :)
Why no applied indices? Also would love to see this model with a DLC coating to have the dark light contrast with the lume dial and the dark scratch resistant finish.
The Island watches look decent but I am not a fan of the beveled crystals. I like a wide screen view not impinged by the bevel. Just a flat non beveled sapphire with clear AR.
@@iancole5034 What did you think of its build quality? I'm thinking about getting an Islander ISL-09 the 42mm one blue dial sapphire grey and blue bezel!
@@NathanChisholm041 (sample size of 1) case finishing, probably on par with skx. Dial/ hands/ chapter ring/crystal and bezel insert: flawless. Bezel action: awful (however if knowledgeable about seiko bezels I'm guessing would be an easy adjustment?) Sturdieness: first day I wore the watch ( Accidentally) dropped it from 4feet right on tiled concrete. Still runs within a couple seconds a day! Amazing. The value is there I would buy one again. I say go for it
Marc went from hero to zero for me the second he announced his Samurai. Ripping off a famous design still new enough to be building its own reputation is uncool AF. I literally clicked on this video just to say that! ...but critical opinions are valuable ones too and I was quickly browsing your titles having just discovered the channel - looking forward to going through some more of them later. All the best
@@anonimushbosh What you have gone and spoken to them? I would say more ppl like them than don't! personally, i don't do homage watches im a Citizen or Seiko guy but ppl love these Islander watches...
@@NathanChisholm041 I know they do, that wasn’t my point. I’m not knocking anyone for choosing to sell or to buy an unoriginal design but it’s natural to prefer and to admire originality and creativity. And that represents a widely shared belief you won’t see peppering the comments on most discussions.
I could be completely wrong but I vaguely remember Mark from LIW saying he chose the smaller case size to better mimic the original Seiko Samurai before the 4R35 SRP reissues.
I bought that bracelet for my Samurai's, excellent quality. I'm definitely buying this one when it is back in stock, I didn't want to give it up when I had it on the tour.
@@ChillinwitWatches If you say so. I can't put on a watch with plastic and un-sized bracelet and say it wears good. I did check the Citizen return policy and they take it back as long as its not scratched up. I have to look into the Seiko return policy.
@@12hebrewtribes I was asking, I wasn't sure what you were getting at. Long Island is a bit smaller than Seiko and Citizen and he probably needs to be able to resell the item. The average joe will probably scratch a bracelet sizing it.
@@ChillinwitWatches I am not trying to be rude on your channel. This is my first visit here. That is my point exactly that you have to be sure that you want to buy a watch that you can't remove the plastic from or even size the bracelet...as you said the average Joe will scratch it so my point was be sure you want the watch before you buy it cause the return policy might bite you in the a**. Not bashing them they make decent items, but that is a deal breaker with me. Edit: Esp with solid end links. I have seen people first time with this that know how to change bracelets. The first time doing this takes them 20-60 mins and scratches will happen.
@@12hebrewtribes it's all good, speak freely here! You have a valid point and it's worth taking about. My thinking was if I bought a watch new and it came with the plastic already off because it was returned, I might be disappointed. Well I might not care, but many would.
Great content, as always...keep it up and you will be over 1k real soon. As Rob said, surprised your not there yet. Great job Pete!!👍
Thanks man! Appreciate the support!

Thanks so much for weighing the watch! That’s the most important number I’m always looking for and so few reviews show it
Well I'm a very serious and thorough reviewer... Bah hahaha, right! It is important tho isn't it ?!
Thanks the for review! Super chill lol. I’m new to building my watch collection and Mark’s ISL-26 caught my eye!! Keep it up!
Great Review. Such a great watch at that price point.
They are so solid feeling in hand!
Seiko no longer punches above its weight. Orient and Islander as well as many microbrands give you much more watch for the money.

Excellent review and watch.

I think I tend to agree.
Or slightly domed, no bevel, clear AR. As you get older those bevels and bifocals don't mix well.
I'm sure it's a good/fine watch that will give many years of service. But I do prefer the actual seiko samurai for all its seikoesque design cues.
Islanders are good, but I would take the seiko samurai.
Anyone know when Mark is gonna release an islander with the "great wave" dial? Seen some teasing but nothing for sale yet
I've not heard any update on that!
Been out for some time!
@@NathanChisholm041 yeah, thanks man. I was able to snatch one up on the first drop.

Opinions are like assholes everyone's got one!
Not on UA-cam. The overwhelming majority are afraid of disagreeing with their own crowds which leads to accepting skewed narratives.

Looking at the bracelet on the Islander has made hairs grow on my chest! Also if you get into a fight, you don't need brass knuckles!
Isn't that what it's all about? 😉

I've had three samurais, I shouldn't have sold the hexad bracelet, because I ended up buying it twice! LOL
my islander dual time runs so well i cant believe it,
They are fantastic watches!
Awesome video....
Very nice review. That has to be the brightest lume on your channel thus far.
Is this a U.S.-designed watch????
It's a Seiko homage so...no?
You have 30 days to return it as long as you have not size the bracelet, worn it, and they even want the plastic back on the watch.
Seems a fair return policy?
