You are absolutely right. Unless you are going for style or really need the extra "ruggidity", it seems silly to use these cases. I understand why they would make them though. Because people will friggin buy just about anything.

Quick release is so you can attach it to a bag or wallet.

The ring is there to put it easily on your keys. The Smarttag is quite bulky to attach. I buy the official case anyway because it's simpler. But I don't know what color😅

Official case is much better finished but it's also 2 times more expensive. It's almost as expensive as the actual SmartTag2 tracker itself which is very shocking.

I didn't need a case for my Samsung Galaxy Buds Live and my new SmartTag 2 because they were not expensive.
