Had a lot of comments about what phone my wife was using at the time she hid the tracker. She is a Pixel user. Always has been. I've been trying to convert her for years but she won't budge.

I'd like you to do a test and hide the SmartTag 2 in a busy area to see if any unknown Samsung phone nearby connects to it and sends you the location. This would help us to determine how long it takes for a lost item to be found using a SmartTag 2.
I'd be curious to see that as well. We have them in our cars and it seems to update the location as soon as I open SmartThings. My electric bike was stolen last Saturday from in front of the grocery store here in downtown Long Beach. I was in the store for exactly 10 minutes. The thief used an angle grinder to cut the 7mm thick square Abus chain, which likely only took 5 seconds to cut. I located my bike using the hidden Galaxy SmartTag Plus and found it 1 hour and 20 minutes after being stolen. I could've found it faster if I didn't have to flag someone down for a ride and then had to order Lyft after that to get home to use my own car to search for it. I have one in my car, on my keys, and one in each of two backpacks. I'll be adding a second hidden tracker to my bike soon. I've switched over to using Solum Smart Tag, since it's the same company that supplied Samsung and it's got the same functionality in a much smaller package. So it's much easier to hide.
@thelockpickinglebowski633 such a bummer to go through that. Glad you got it back! Ultimately, the idea is to never have to use them. I have the tag plus on a few things. The redesign of the tag 2 makes it alot easier to hide and being that most companies that make "airtag pockets" in bags and clothing are made for airtag specifically, the galaxy tag and tag plus just doesn't fit. How was the tag able to show you the initial location in the cemetery? Was it using Bluetooth and your wife's phone to establish the initial map location? Does your wife's phone have the Samsung Smartthings app installed?
It will ping off of any Galaxy devices in the area. Not real sure of the range but I do know it's pretty impressive. Maybe that could be another test??? She does have SmartThings installed on her Pixel but I am almost certain that would not matter. She has a SmartTag2 on her keys and is unable to track it using her Pixel 8 Pro and SmartThings, nor will it update the location of the tag .....until she passes a Galaxy device. @Donny B So the distance initially that you were separated from the smarttag2 was bigger than 120meters(got this number from the specs). So how could it pinpoint the cemetary? Or did it pinpoint/connect to it when you were closer, in range?

Do you have a Galaxy phone with Ultra Wideband? if so, can you try a trickier location and try find it with the UWB augmented reality camera navigation option?
You tell her you don't want to break any laws, and 2 out of the 3 ideas involved breaking a law. "Abandoned House" is a description, not a legal status. I like the down to earth way the video was made, so I am subscribing.
An excellent video. Just a small question: - How far were you from the smart tag2 when you started the search and detected on the map that it would be in the cemetery, even before getting in the car? Thank you and keep up the good work.👍
Samsung really needs to make it so that UWB is part of the standard basic S phones of Samsung because you need to have the Samsung S20 Plus or Ultra or higher for precise finding (flip 2 or note 10 or higher as well) as I don't like large phones (+ and ultra is 2 big for one hand use) might get S ultra phone for second phone at some point (use a53 5g currently for video playback and backup hotspot)
Great video!! How did your phone know it was at the grave site, but was hard to track it down when you were so close to it? I want to put one in my truck incase it gets stolen and if can work for that purpose? Sorry for possibly dumb question first time looking into these things, thanks!
hey, great video :) I was looking into buying one of these but my S20 Plus does not seem to support ultra wide banding. Does that basically mean I would not be able to retrieve a pin point location of the missing item when i open smartthings? I would get a 2 mile radius of its approximate location? Cheers
Yeah, the UWB didn't make it until the Note 20. It will really depend on how many devices are in the area and how close they are. Unfortunately with the S20 plus, it will only show the location of the devices it pings. Fortunately, that does give an approximate area that it is in and then you can use the ringer function to locate it precisely.
As long as it is in proximity of any galaxy devices bluetooth range, it will ping its location in the smartthings app and the find app. Pretty sure it needs to be a S10 or newer device, though.
Fantastic video. Thank you so much for this. Today I purchased this tag for tracking my lovely cat 🙀. He is usually around the house but if I don't know where he is I am panicking. So. I was worrying how to find him if... Thank you again. With this video you helped me a lot. 😘 By the way, your wife couldn't find better place 😂
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's comments like yours that really make it all worth it and I'm glad you were able to find the information you were looking for and more importantly a way to keep your baby safe! I'll let Lawren know that you approve 😊 She is my biggest asset when it comes to the channel...well besides viewers like you. Either way, I could not nor would not be able to do it without yall! Thanks again for the support and for your time! It does not go unnoticed!
For this test to be real, the lady should have left her phone somewhere else before dropping the tag as HER OWN phone would have tracked the location of the tag. For it to be real world test it needs to connect to a strangers phone, this could take days or weeks in a remote location for a passer by with an Android Phone. When he opened the APP it INSTANTLY located the TAG as it had been connected to his wife's phone when she placed it.
Great content! thanks. The only issue I have with this device is the map not updating as quick. It takes a very long time to locate the device on the map. And I live in NYC. Any settings that would improve the map location? Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! I agree that it could be better. Especially if you are using Smartthings over the Find app. The Find app is faster. I recently had notifications that the firmware had updates. I haven't tested if it has made maps any faster at loading, but it should certainly help. Maybe check for updates on both the tag itself and the find app.
I just bought one and have 3 issues: 1.Cant enable "find phone" feature on my Verizon Galaxy. 2. camera with arrows doesnt come on when close to the SmartTag in "search nearby mode." This is a feature I happened to see working on another youtube review. 3. I can't figure out how to shut this thing down when Im not using it. The battery on my phone is draining quicker, not to mention the battery in the SmartTag.
Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to watch and comment. I'm not sure. I would think that it would be equivalent to say the 1st gen. It would just give you approximate location and directions based on the most recent ping from a galaxy device. My mother actually has the S21 FE, I will test it on her phone and report what I find.
Great video, it was much fun to watch. I was running the Smart Tag alongside my older Smart Tag+ and noticed immediately that it is lacking accurate and frequent offline updates. Note that the tag is NOT! in power saving mode. Now I understand the long battery life which is simply achieved by the infrequent updates and long time gaps between them. I regret having bought the Tag 2 and cannot recommend it for the sole purpose of locating my item (bag, car, etc) fast and accurately. I managed to buy another Smart Tag+ but they are hard to find and cost now almost double.
Thanks for watching. Honestly I'm not really sure. I would think that you would still be able to use the map function but not the exact directions to the tag. It would be as if you were using the 1st generation tag.....I think 🤔 I will look into when I get back to the office. I still have a S10 that I can try it on. Thanks again for your time and comment
I had the same problem as you do but with the SmartTag 2. I live in a 3rd world country so my small city mostly has android phones including Samsung A & M-series phones. But it was still unreliable. I was hoping I could use it on my cat, disappointing :((
Where's the AR stuff. 1st gen works literally the same way as you have shown for the 3rd gen. I guess you didn't have ultrawideband turned on or something. I have 1st gen. The speakers are gone. The range has also dropped for some reason on it too.Samsung Service centres in my city have denied they even know anything about smart tags 😂
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. The way they work is a protocol called LE Bluetooth or Low Energy Bluetooth. Everyone's phone (most everyone) is constantly sending out a Bluetooth signal. Well this device is designed to "see" the signal coming from Samsung Galaxy devices and then uses that devices location to report back to the owner of the Smart Tag that location...all in the background. The device owner cant even tell it has been pinged. Once you get within the vicinity of your tag, you are able to pin point exactly where it is by either an audible tone or using you camera. Super cool and convenient way to keep up with things you would hate to lose. Its pretty much a very affordable insurance. Hope this helps and thanks again for your time!
@@Donny_B My wife and I are going on a trip next week. We will probably buy a couple of these. Hopefully they will help us to locate our luggage that may not arrive with us. On our last two trips, our luggage did not arrive with us, however, they arrived a couple days later.
Depends how many phones are pinged on the way (if only same phone in range likely be 15 minutes intervals) samsung has 7 day history in the smart of things find app It's also Reliant that the people that have a Samsung phone nearby I've actually agreed to enable the offline finding network which is extremely unfortunate because on Apple when you set up an iPhone when you log into your Apple account by default I switches find my phone on and apple offline finding on Samsung does not do this when logging into Samsung account, after 1 to 2 days it pops up once (and only once) to ask if you wish to turn on offline finding if you dismiss that pop up offline finding is disabled until you go into 4 sub menus to find the offline finding switch, Samsung needs to change it so when you're logging into Samsung account offline finding is enabled by default it's all good and handy that Samsung has hundreds of millions of phones out in the wild when only about maybe 100,000 of them have the offline finding network enabled (most probably tech people who have gone out of there way to enable it) vs over 99% of iPhone and iPads have it enabled by default My recommendation is to use both the smartTag 2 and the airtag on the same object ( Pet, car, keys, luggage, expensive equipment like workman tools, TV and other portable but expensive items) buy a cheap iPhone or iPhone 11 (as it supports UWB > precise finding) for airtags Samsung you can get away with cheap Samsung phone but lacks any precise finding (AR/precise finding only works on samsung S20+ and ultra or flip 2 or note 10 or newer) Major downside with apple airtag it has no history function (only tells you where it was last reported so once found you need to goto its location right away and hopefully get close enough to it to make a connection) samsung has 7 day history function in the smart of things find app so you can see where it has been as well as where it currently was last reported
Probably one of the most affordable insurances available. Definitely one of those things you hope to never have to use. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Cool video as usual Donny. Mrs.B did a great job although I think she could have made the clue harder for you😀. They seem like they could be a very handy thing to have.Give Sir Winston a stroke for me.🐶👍
Thank you! I was really expecting it to be a lot harder than it was, but maybe we'll do a scavenger hunt or make it more difficult in the future and include an apple airtag to see how they compare. I don't have any regrets but I am starting to second guess myself getting a puppy, haha. Geez, I dont remember them being so chewy 🙄 Thanks again for the kind words and your time to say them!
@@Donny_B Just a quick question. Will you be getting the HoverX1 drone to review ( don't think you've done it) . I'm thinking about getting it as my first drone but would like your take on it.
@grahamjones7070 I would love to check it out but being such a small channel it is tough to get some of the products out there. I wish I could do them all but most of time I just end up buying them myself, especially if it will help bring production value. I'll take a look and see what I can do. It seems pretty legit though and I love the small form factor. Can't make any promises but I will try to get my hands on one
It can. There is an alert that can be turned on for when you arrive or leave it behind, but no way to set a precise distance to alert. Not real sure of what the distance is before it does notify you. But I do know it is not customizable. When using the find feature, it will show you precise distance as long as UWB is turned on. I'm actually working on a new video about the SmartTag2 and some other viable options. But unfortunately, the AR feature that allows you to use you camera is not working with the S24 Ultra. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next update and I'll be able to finish and publish the video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I hope I somewhat answered your question.
Her phone probably pinged it right away when leaving it. Imagine if it didn't though. It could be days or weeks before a galaxy device gets within range of it to give that location.
@FubarMike I'm not sure the exact distance but it is pretty impressive. Might be worth testing. I'm sure it is whatever bluetooth 5.3 is along with ultra wide band
thanks to that Smart Tag, that's how my Friend Find His Stolen Car, it was in the Thief Garage, when He called the Police and went into that House, 4 of the Tires are missing, they about to Dismantle the Car and sell the Car Parts
😯 Daaaang! That's what I've been telling people.....for $30 he got his car back. Best case is you never need it, but when you do..... Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Glad your friend got it back!
Can u help me. We tried ours earlier. I xan locate the tag when it's within the house but when my husband took it with him while he went to a store (not even 10 KM, i couldn't see the location on the map or history. He has his phone with him. He even called to tell me where he is to see if I can see the location.
Then now, he left the tag in my car in the parking area of our aparrment. When I click navigate, it won't allow me saying I'm already in the same location and won't show history
Yep, well about half of it. A river splits it in half. The other half is "Main Street" and consists of one block and a court house. The bridge is the major focal point of the city. Kinda sucks for creative work, but honestly I wouldn't want it any other way. Kinda forces me to travel and I get to come home to peace and quiet. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Good question. Turns out there is an AR feature that let's you use your camera to find it. Considering doing a version 2 since this video was way more well received than I expected.....well, 95% well received. It's had it's fair share of haters 🫣🤓 I appreciate your taking the time to watch and comment
Wanna check that the smart tag 2 take signal from other samsung phones around it to transmit the location am i right? if i go places where galaxy phone wasn't common then it wont be effective?
@@hai7012 Android is the primary market holder in China at around 75 percent. You should have no problem at all, even if it held 25 percent of the whole market that's more than enough to still be effective.
I was thinking Samsung device is required or just android device required to transmit the signal of the token. Places like china Samsung device only take up to 5% market share, however if it's android device then I'm not worried. So which one is it
If the wife left without her phone in that isolated location, you would never find the tracker. The battery was running out and you still had no chance of a Samsung passing by with the Smartthings application installed and working.
if she has a Galaxy phone with here at the the time she hid the smart tag, it would already mark the smart tag's last location before she even left the area.

@@Donny_B thanks - even better approval from it then - you would hope they would link in with androids own finding service to expand the number of devices which could report back locations. This is Samsung though and as much as I love them, they like to do their own thing
@nickthorley1 yep, I agree. It's getting better though. They recently merged quick share with all other Androids, so that's a start. I think Samsung is finally starting to realize that it's OK to get a little bit of help every now and then. I just hope they go back to being on the leading edge of design. It's getting a bit boring seeing the same phone every year.
I will get 4 for 69 USD in Norway, a great deal. It is not in stock but will come next year. I wish they also were compatible with Apples find network. I think it's stupid to have different networks. Why not just one and open, compatible with all. But I'm a socialist. I have 3 of the gen 1 (without UWB). One I have taken apart and put in my wallet. I have a flat battery with solder tabs, and a speaker from a tollboot chip payment system. I don't recommend buying flat batteries from China from like Ali, they dont last long. But you can get a holder for cheap and buy locally a good battery. But also you can get bigger flat batteries from your country electronic shops with solder tabs or wires. It is also water proof, I used modified silicone conformal coating ( because I fly FPV on quads and areoplanes) Modifying this new one will be a little more tricky. I might not get the NFC antenna installed in my wallet. Might need to order a diy one. But the rest seems easy. I have seen teardown videos. Its more complicated than a Airtag and older samsung tag.
No, she has a Pixel. The tag pings off of galaxy devices. Pretty good chance there is at least one eventually. I live in a pretty rural area and have never had a problem. Thanks for watching!

😄 Thank you so much! I really did not expect this video to do so well, but I am thrilled that so many of you enjoy it!
I will certainly relay to message to the Boss, lol! Tomorrow is his 1st birthday. They grow up so fast 🥲🤣
Thanks again for the kind words and taking the time to say them!
Do you have a Galaxy phone with Ultra Wideband? if so, can you try a trickier location and try find it with the UWB augmented reality camera navigation option?
I do and I think that would probably make a pretty good short. I'll see what I can do
You tell her you don't want to break any laws, and 2 out of the 3 ideas involved breaking a law. "Abandoned House" is a description, not a legal status. I like the down to earth way the video was made, so I am subscribing.
I have no idea how I missed this comment, but I'm glad you made it and thank you for your time and support
An excellent video.
Just a small question:
- How far were you from the smart tag2 when you started the search and detected on the map that it would be in the cemetery, even before getting in the car?
Thank you and keep up the good work.👍
Thank you so much for the kind words! I was roughly 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the cemetery. Thanks again for your time and support
@@Donny_B Thank you, for your quick reply.
Happy Hollydays!😎👍
@Arkos39 you too 🤓
@@Donny_B Thanks! 😉
Didn't the old SmartTag+ let you use augmented reality and showed you (in distance) approximately how far away the tracker was?
It did! Bluetooth 5.3 has better range and the new design is way more usable than the original. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Samsung really needs to make it so that UWB is part of the standard basic S phones of Samsung because you need to have the Samsung S20 Plus or Ultra or higher for precise finding (flip 2 or note 10 or higher as well) as I don't like large phones (+ and ultra is 2 big for one hand use)
might get S ultra phone for second phone at some point (use a53 5g currently for video playback and backup hotspot)
Excelente video. Muchas gracias
Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to watch and comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Should I put the smart tag inside the suitcase or attach it to the outside??
I would hide it in the suitcase. On the outside someone could possibly take it
Great video!! How did your phone know it was at the grave site, but was hard to track it down when you were so close to it? I want to put one in my truck incase it gets stolen and if can work for that purpose? Sorry for possibly dumb question first time looking into these things, thanks!
This is a great video. I really injoyed it. thanks
hey, great video :) I was looking into buying one of these but my S20 Plus does not seem to support ultra wide banding.
I thought you couldn't track these things from far away like a regular tracker that requires a subscription. how did you track it?
As long as it is in proximity of any galaxy devices bluetooth range, it will ping its location in the smartthings app and the find app. Pretty sure it needs to be a S10 or newer device, though.
Good job !!! Now im going buy a four pack for my cars
Thanks! It's definitely worth it! That's the cheapest insurance you can find!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Pixels are not part of the Galaxy ecosystem. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I really appreciate the support! 🙌
I just bought one and have 3 issues:
1.Cant enable "find phone" feature on my Verizon Galaxy.
2. camera with arrows doesnt come on when close to the SmartTag in "search nearby mode." This is a feature I happened to see working on another youtube review.
3. I can't figure out how to shut this thing down when Im not using it. The battery on my phone is draining quicker, not to mention the battery in the SmartTag.
Very Well done .
Thank you!
Great video. Do you know if the Smart Tag2 is compatible with the Galaxy S21 FE, since the FE does not have UWB technology?
Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to watch and comment.
I'm not sure. I would think that it would be equivalent to say the 1st gen. It would just give you approximate location and directions based on the most recent ping from a galaxy device. My mother actually has the S21 FE, I will test it on her phone and report what I find.
well done Mr. Donny I'll buy some Smarttag2 thank you for the video
Hello. What about using this tag with a device that doesn't come with uwb, e.g. non-plus/ultra galaxy s series?
How long after she hid it did you wait before you left to go find it?
She hid it around noon and I went after work, so probably around 6 pm
How does this product work locating misplaced luggage?
@@Donny_B Thank you. Very good explanation.
@darrellgritten4398 I'm glad I was able to. These things get tricky sometimes 😉
@@Donny_B My wife and I are going on a trip next week. We will probably buy a couple of these. Hopefully they will help us to locate our luggage that may not arrive with us. On our last two trips, our luggage did not arrive with us, however, they arrived a couple days later.
Can the smart tag 2 do live track? Have it on my wifes cat but living rurally i dpnt see many movement updates though cat is gone 3 days
Depends how many phones are pinged on the way (if only same phone in range likely be 15 minutes intervals)
samsung has 7 day history in the smart of things find app
It's also Reliant that the people that have a Samsung phone nearby I've actually agreed to enable the offline finding network which is extremely unfortunate because on Apple when you set up an iPhone when you log into your Apple account by default I switches find my phone on and apple offline finding on
Samsung does not do this when logging into Samsung account, after 1 to 2 days it pops up once (and only once) to ask if you wish to turn on offline finding if you dismiss that pop up offline finding is disabled until you go into 4 sub menus to find the offline finding switch, Samsung needs to change it so when you're logging into Samsung account offline finding is enabled by default
it's all good and handy that Samsung has hundreds of millions of phones out in the wild when only about maybe 100,000 of them have the offline finding network enabled (most probably tech people who have gone out of there way to enable it) vs over 99% of iPhone and iPads have it enabled by default
My recommendation is to use both the smartTag 2 and the airtag on the same object ( Pet, car, keys, luggage, expensive equipment like workman tools, TV and other portable but expensive items)
buy a cheap iPhone or iPhone 11 (as it supports UWB > precise finding) for airtags
Samsung you can get away with cheap Samsung phone but lacks any precise finding (AR/precise finding only works on samsung S20+ and ultra or flip 2 or note 10 or newer)
Major downside with apple airtag it has no history function (only tells you where it was last reported so once found you need to goto its location right away and hopefully get close enough to it to make a connection)
samsung has 7 day history function in the smart of things find app so you can see where it has been as well as where it currently was last reported
This video just made me buy 2 of them
Probably one of the most affordable insurances available. Definitely one of those things you hope to never have to use. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Someone's having a party it smells like the sweet Shiba 😂😂
At least I think that is what it smells like 👀😉😎
I have one but when it leaves our location it grays out and says not near me. Now it isnt updating the location. Help?
Haha you should have kept going without ringing it. This was an awesome review. I'll have to get some myself. 😊
😁 Thank you, thought I would try something new! Glad you like it!
Some advice, look at the demographics of the people who steal in your area, then you’ll know what tag type/devices to get.
A colorway is 2 or more colors together.
Can it track distance? Say if i am 10m away it shud automatically ring?
She has a Pixel. It will only ping Galaxy devices.
@@Donny_B Those new smart tags must have some amazing range then
@FubarMike I'm not sure the exact distance but it is pretty impressive. Might be worth testing. I'm sure it is whatever bluetooth 5.3 is along with ultra wide band
thanks to that Smart Tag, that's how my Friend Find His Stolen
Car, it was in the Thief Garage, when He called the Police and went into
that House, 4 of the Tires are missing, they about to Dismantle the Car and sell the Car Parts
Have you tried ringing it? If it's saying that you are in the same area it should give you the option to ring it. What kind of phone are you using?
@@Donny_B I use S20FE.I have tried this a few days ago and it now works. However, would this work if the tag is in a different country?
That was "downtown" in your generic city?
Yep, well about half of it. A river splits it in half. The other half is "Main Street" and consists of one block and a court house. The bridge is the major focal point of the city. Kinda sucks for creative work, but honestly I wouldn't want it any other way. Kinda forces me to travel and I get to come home to peace and quiet.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
It's not just phones it's any device that uses USB like their watches and earbuds and tablets
Be curious how close it'd get you without ringing it
Good question. Turns out there is an AR feature that let's you use your camera to find it. Considering doing a version 2 since this video was way more well received than I expected.....well, 95% well received. It's had it's fair share of haters 🫣🤓 I appreciate your taking the time to watch and comment
I ordered a 4 pack so I can put these Inside my camera bags
Probably the cheapest insurance you can get. If you use a battery grip, one will fit where the battery door stores. At least it does on my Canon R
Wanna check that the smart tag 2 take signal from other samsung phones around it to transmit the location am i right? if i go places where galaxy phone wasn't common then it wont be effective?
That's right. But the odds are pretty good there will be a Samsung device somewhere nearby. I have never had an issue.....yet, but I get the concern
@@Donny_B planning to go country like china where local brand and iphone holds the market. Not sure should I still get the tag
@@hai7012 Android is the primary market holder in China at around 75 percent. You should have no problem at all, even if it held 25 percent of the whole market that's more than enough to still be effective.
@Sparks220 I agree. Even the 1st generation was more than effective and the technology has improved tremendously.
I was thinking Samsung device is required or just android device required to transmit the signal of the token. Places like china Samsung device only take up to 5% market share, however if it's android device then I'm not worried. So which one is it
I'm new to the smart tag. Is there a way to turn it off when you're not going to use it?
You remove the battery as simple as it sounds
Mrs. Taylor is going to haunt both of y'all.
I don't disagree 👻👀😬 hahaha
I hope you got that check engine light taken care of. You'll need another smart tag to find your broke down butt.

Please make a video where you use different android phone than Samsung.
I'm working on one now that works on the Google Find My network. Should be up in a few days
Hidden by a Samsung phone user? So was tracked. If hidden by someone without a phone in an unpopulated area .. maybe good bye tag?
It was hidden by a Pixel user
If the wife left without her phone in that isolated location, you would never find the tracker. The battery was running out and you still had no chance of a Samsung passing by with the Smartthings application installed and working.
if she has a Galaxy phone with here at the
the time she hid the smart tag, it would already mark the smart tag's last location before she even left the area.
She has a Pixel
@Donny_B great! can't wait for my smart tag and dog collar case. its always sold out in my region
@ddddaaddaaaa it's great to have! I have one on both my dogs and hope to never have to use it. But it is great peace of mind. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Hope you get yours soon!
This was good but does your wife have a Samsung phone and hence Samsung knew an accurate location where it was lost Vs waiting for someone to pass by?
Thank you for the compliment and for your time watching a video I had no idea would get the attention it did. At the time she had a Pixel 6. The SmartTag2 will only ping off of other Samsung devices. Thanks again for your time and comment
When you considered to buy Samsung samrtag please check your model of Samsung phone. Not all Samsung phones can be used even new models. Be careful.
If you use the same Smartthings account, it doesn't matter what phone your wife had.
reality can use like gps , heading in car if still car/bike yuo faund
It is also water proof, I used modified silicone conformal coating ( because I fly FPV on quads and areoplanes)
Modifying this new one will be a little more tricky. I might not get the NFC antenna installed in my wallet. Might need to order a diy one. But the rest seems easy. I have seen teardown videos.
Its more complicated than a Airtag and older samsung tag.
Hope she didn't have her phone switched on while hiding the tag...
Is the wife using a Samsung, because if it is not near any Samsung phone, will it work?
No, she has a Pixel. The tag pings off of galaxy devices. Pretty good chance there is at least one eventually. I live in a pretty rural area and have never had a problem. Thanks for watching!
Smart tag aint finding this guys chin.
You are much better off with GPS the smart tag and airtag are completely useless unless someone is nearby with a phone for it to ping off
does she have galaxy phone? maybe thats why it showed up in your map fast
No, she's been a Pixel user for years now. Which is good for the channel since she just got the Pixel 8 Pro. I've been trying to get her on a Galaxy for a while now.
@@Donny_Bthen how did just shows in your map ? Bcs of other samsung devices around the place???
@minions6977 exactly. It will ping off of any galaxy device that passes within proximity.
